    It sounds like they both agree; everyone *should* follow the traffic laws. GMB wants a debate, but they're asking an inflammatory question instead of a productive one.

      @@TheAegisClaw I never said that the penalty for a cyclist should be the same as a motorist ? but pointed out that they should follow the guidance in the Highway Code ( rule H2 , rules 59 - rules 72 ) for cyclists that many completely ignore and should be fined accordingly.

    Everyone should be careful, but how is it the motorist's fault if a cyclist all in black and no lights pulls out on them? If you're driving safely, that's should be that.

    A ridiculously loaded and one-sided 'debate'. Cyclists on pavenments: just count how many motorists park on pavements. Delivery drivers -ditto white van drivers. Red lights -just stand at any set of lights in the country and watch motorists tailgating each other to get through the red light. EVERY point the taxi driver tries to make to demonise cyclists can be countered with an example of infinitely more dangerous practices by motorists that motorists seem to be blind to.

    Drivers are not responsible for cyclist safety cyclists are anybody who's on the road is responsible for operating their vehicle in a safe manner. I've lost count how many times I have seen idiots cyclists manoeuvring in such a reprehensible and irresponsible unsafe manner and then playing the victim when something happens to them. They think they have the moral authority because they are on a bike and they seem to be better on the road because they are more environmentally friendly, trendy woke mode of transportation so they can act like jerks put everybody at risk and then blame others when something happens. Also the comparison of a 5000 pound car going the speed limit and the manoeuvrability compared to the ability of a cyclist to move her is vastly different and has safety risks. I had a friend a cyclist who is an idiot on the road admitted it got hit by vehicle got a severe and head injury and that was permanently disabled. The insurance company ruled it was his fault the cyclists but he insisted it was the car drivers fault

      @@nlewin5072 yes I do woke means finding ways and means to hold other people, responsible and accountable for your bad actions. Everyone else is to blame. Everyone else is responsible for ensuring either safety or security. They will not take personal responsibility. That is the definition of woke and this is exactly what the cyclists are behaving, they are cyclist who are entitled and feel they are not accountable to observe the rules of the road operate their bicycles in a safe manner and yet expect motorists to be more responsible for their safety. That is the definition of woke, lazy, entitled, and uncountable.

      Make motorists pay to be on the road, too. I know what you're getting at, but you're just ignorant. Roads are paid for by general taxation, which we all pay, whether we use the roads or not (like pedestrians).
      How does making cyclists 'pay to be on the road' help road safety? Will that make motorists more respectful? Do motorists target cyclists BECAUSE the don't 'pay to be on the roads'? Will they change their attitudes once cyclists start paying? Your comment is idiotic.

    As someone who commutes to central London everyday, there are at least 10 instances of cyclists jumping red lights every day that i see. Saying it's the 1% is wrong.

    • @nlewin5072
      @nlewin5072 3 месяца назад +1

      Stand at any set of traffic lights in the rest of the country and watch just how many motorists go through red lights, tailgating the car in front just because they don't want to wait. I see it every day as a pedestrian, sometimes meaning that the number of motorists who have gone through the red lights mean that they block the carriageway for those on a green light. As a pedestrian it means that I'm often unable to cross a road in the time between red and green lights because there's a constant stream of traffic.
      I'm sure the accusations of London cyclists are true, but I promise and guarantee that for the rest of the country, motorists are the overwhelming majority of red light bandits.
