    Keep it mate! Settle down, settle in for the long run. The grass is always greener, and it is a male thing that you always want what you haven't got.
    Keep the bike dude, regardless to value. Pay off the loan, and once it's paid off put the money you were spending into an account, when the KTM dies you will saved enough to at least stick a deposit down on a newer bike.

      ***** the snag with used bikes today is there is little value in private sale. you can get a bike to commute on for £1500, with 12 months MOT and around the 20k miles on the clock, for example an old cbr 600f..... my point is.... if you have a bike that will do the job for commuting, just keep it, as you wont get a lot of money back when it comes to re-sale, or you will have your pants pulled down if you part-ex. Andy Man Cam had a fazer with over 60K on the clock, and so if you look after the bike, it will just keep going...... BUT!!! you will never - ever, be able to get away from the grass is always greener syndrome, it is written in every bikers DNA.

    You should keep the bike if it's reliable and you like it. Eventually your payments will catch up and pass the worth. You don't lose out until you sell.

    Tiger 800, you'll learn to love it. I'll make sure of it!

  • @Weeem
    @Weeem 9 лет назад

    If you love the bike - keep it and ride it into the ground.
    Then new engine and repeat :D
    But if you want to keep it good, get a cheap commuter bike and leave the Cyclops for weekends and occasional commutes.
    e.g. you could add a slightly more expensive low-miler commuter to your fleet like a CB1000R that has the grunt, easy to ride and to add on your gear change shenanigan magic doodah bits. It would be a mile eater and decent build quality
    Nice jacket btw ;) :D

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  9 лет назад

      The problem is I already shifted my commuter (the drifter) to sunny days and events so the 990 is my commuter! If i then get a third bike as the others are two precious i may just have to answer some questions to 'her in doors' :)

    Only just come across you mate so my two pennies on the Italian bikes you mentioned at the end are way late. Might be handy for future reference though. Iv put on 27,000 miles on my Diavel in just over two years. Yes tyres and brake pads are a tad on the expensive side. Servicing is way on the expensive side. But the intervals aren't bad at 7,500 miles. I don't know what BMW are? Yes electronics are shit, fixed corrosion on the headlight wiring twice and now my starter switch is starting to go (twice in my vids since I have been uploading on here and Iv only got four) Suspension on the Diavel is crap but I'm told on the multistrada it's awesome. If you can live with a few electrical niggles, the Italians are getting better. I think the multi and diavels character are well worth it. Engines are the absolute nutz! Except diavels a bit twitchy under 3k revs. The engine management system does help a bit.

    If you want to change then I would recommend the Honda Varadero XL1000 :) Heard great reviews about them and planning on getting one after I pass my test :D
    If not build your own if thats possible? Use one frame and engine you like best and adapt :) If not just keep the bike and by the time it needs changing you could have the money to get another :D

    Just keep the one you've got sounds like you like it a lot nothings better out there. just keep yours and run it till its had enough then whatever you get for it is a bonus... In the meantime you could get an older cbr 600 or even 900 for about £1500 and use that to soak up the mileage when you dont want to use the KTM. Insurance and maintenance combined will be cheaper than changing bikes and taking a hit on your current ktm i reckon. Anyway peace!

    (Keep that bike it's lovely)
    Triumph Tiger Sport 1050
    Uhh...
    ....
    Ducati Multistrada 1200?!
    ^ absolutely stunning, incredibly powerful BUT can be very expensive - should be similar to the KTM
    Sorry if you mentioned them^ my phone decided it didn't like you and stopped half way through

  • @RidingJapan
    @RidingJapan 9 лет назад +1

    considering that the millage amount you do doesn't change in the future. the depreciation argument isn't really valid since you would have the same problem with any bike?
    if it's reliable I'd say keep it.since it's depreciate more slowly as it becomes worth less xD?

  • @force788

  • @Motortriker
    @Motortriker 9 лет назад

    I'm with the herd. There's no point in chopping your ride in every few months and taking a hit on depreciation each time; you're always going to put the same miles on whatever ride you have, so why pass on your lovely KTM to someone else to enjoy at a knockdown price? YOU may as well enjoy that bike.
    Whatever you do, you should upload more regularly. Love the vids mate.

    I'm getting a bit old, a bit fat...a bit unhealthy LOL You should go all bike reviews. Comedic and brutally honest but you'd never be invited back to a bike launch. *LOUD COUGH* 1190

  • @nakedlondonbiker
    @nakedlondonbiker 9 лет назад

    Damn! I somehow missed that you sold your MT-09! Must've slipped through my feeds. I did too by the way, got myself a GSX-R750. Fits my needs and my style perfectly, almost like it was made for me.
    Anyway, as per your question - the logical choice (if you know your current bike works and is reliable) would be to keep it and ride it until you no longer like it and want to ride something else. Any bike will lose its value over time and if you're doing loads of miles then the value of your next bike will depreciate too. This way you'll lose double the money - first by selling this bike which has already depreciated and then selling the "new" bike. If you keep riding this one, however, then it'll reach it bottom price at some point and won't depreciate any more. I mean, it's not going to suddenly miraculously cost £10 just because you've done 50k miles on it, will it?
    On the other hand, all modern bikes are reliable and no matter which one you get you shouldn't have any issues with them. Of course, an odd one here or there might have some problems but it's all minor issues and generally wheels don't fall off of them. If you have money to burn and don't want to ride the bike you have at the moment then go for it. A new bike is always exciting. If not, then stick with what you have and keep enjoying it while it works. That's my 2 cents :)
    P.S.
    I'd be interested to watch your test rides (Duke, Tracer) if you have the footage available. I see you used some shots from them in this video, was wondering if you have anything else worth sharing?

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  9 лет назад

      Hey due, you're definitely right, the 990 is a great bike, so perhaps i should just keep it...... but if i get a bonus then get a new bike LOL!! I guess a bike is a bike, and I've already had 5 in 2 years, so perhaps i should settle for a while!! I did record the other bike rides, but they weren't reviews or blogs, but i'll put some more in the next daily observations!!

    • @nakedlondonbiker
      @nakedlondonbiker 9 лет назад

      crotchrocket I can see where you're coming from with wanting something new. I'm in a way the same - doesn't matter whether it's a bike, a tablet or a TV. I get bored of things quite quickly. I initially thought the same when I got the gixxer, that I'll probably keep it for a year and then get something else. Having ridden it for a while I've now half decided that I actually want to stick with it for a bit longer and have "my" bike, if that makes sense. There's always the getting used to period when you get something new, when the thing is not quite yours yet. I want to own it for longer so that I feel that it's mine and I think you should stick with your KTM too. Of course people are different but 5 bikes in 2 years is plenty so I'd say save yourself some money and keep riding something you like and already have and put your bonus in a savings account :)

    Thoughts on the Tiger 1050 Sport? ;-)
    I'd keep it. That KTM sounds sweet and looks like it handles great.
    I had the Versys 650, it's not got a dodgy engine, just a bit vibey, but the new 650 fixes that apparently.

      YEah i do like the look of the tiger sport, but then its always compared to the 990 SMT and the SMT always comes out on top.....which is the same engine as i already have !! :)

    Interesting vid.I faced the same question recently and decided to keep it 'till it dies/gets too expensive.I would love a ktm adventure but refuse to get in debt so the old lovely vfr stays.
    For me you should keep this bike,ride it until things get expensive and it will help me decide what mileage s/h adventure i eventually get.Yes i am selfish.Sorry.
