To be fair I just don't think how Michael could be that clever. I mean there were billions upon billions of bars spread out the entire world. And the one golden ticket 1 just happened to come into his own part of the county.
@@tomedy_official I don’t think Mike knew exactly which store in his state was selling the bar with the Golden Ticket in it, but he managed to narrow it down to about 4 possible stores, and then just went to each one and used all of his allowance money to buy their entire stocks of Wonka bars. He didn’t figure out the exact location of it, he just figured out a rough search zone, bought all of the Wonka bars within that zone, and then found the ticket that way. He wasn’t very precise, but he was precise enough.

Mike: Doesn't stop playing video games even with the news people in his house. Charlie: Was born under a lucky star.
Honestly, out of all the parents in this movie, Augustus' and Veruca's seem the least vile (not including Charlie's family because that would be cheating.)
I never noticed they gave Mike Teevee an extremely intricate technical explanation for how he found the bar by determining probable locations from the manufacture dates of the tickets vs. delivery dates. What the fuck that's ingenious, and presumably lots of smart people around the world were doing it but only he succeeded. That makes him the only winner to actually earn the ticket in any way, which puts him ahead of even Charlie for factory candidates. All you have to do is fix his developmental disorder to do with his videogames (which is clearly shown to be down to a lack of attention and care from his parents - something Wonka as a mentor could easily ameliorate) and you have an unbelievable child savant on your hands.
Wonka didn’t seem to like Mike tho he seemed offended that Mike outsmarted the system and Mike was very disrespectful/overly aggressive while in the factory
His character actually represents people with aggressive, hostile intelligence who outsmart the system to exploit it to the disadvantage of others. He doesnt even like chocolate, and yet he deprives kids of their chances, whose biggest dream is to find that ticket. He disillusions and breaks the magic of this huge lottery, thats why Wonka doesnt like him. Non of these kids deserve to be the lucky one, except for Charlie.
Gotta remember though, Mike doesn't even like chocolate. He thinks candy is a waste of time. He cracked the system and found the golden ticket just because he could, which ruined the chances of more deserving children.
Perhaps but......even if he did do the rest of that he couldn't determine it down to one specific bar. Besides, Wonka is sold internationally, so it may still be difficult to determine probably locations. I always just figured that he just opened one bar at random and told himself that he'd done the rest. In any case, nothing in the rest of his behaviour indicates he's able to put in hard work for anything, all we see him do is play video games, smash things, insult everyone and everything by mocking hem, dismissing them or calling them stupid, demanding that he gets his way anyhow, or to claim that something is impossible and not even show respect to the person who made the impossible possible. His just running to the machine after seeing it work without stopping to consider if it had a reverse button doesn't really seem to indicate that he's capable of planning that far ahead.

He'd probably eat the wages of the Oompa Loompas as well. - Veruca Salt: Greed. Has everything the world can offer her, due to her rich and weak father. Would probably still want another pony after getting her squirrel and the factory and forget about it within a week. - Violet Beauregarde: Pride. She excels in many things, but not in being humble. Overconfident and arrogant, she would probably see the factory as yet another trophy. - Mike Teavee: Envy. A know-it-all who can't stand it when he's been proven wrong. He'd probably insult everyone for being too stupid to figure out how to win a chocolate factory, had he won.
Envy doesn't sounds like Mike, it's either Sloth. Charlie, on the other hand, is the close one to Envy, because he's basically envied other kids, and his envious life allowed him to feel granted by his victory. As for both Lust and Wrath, I could still find them on Charlie and his father (albeit neither of them are competitors nor event children)

Been awhile since I saw the remake, but I remember the Gene Wilder version implied that A) Willy Wonka had a hand in where his tickets went, so he rigged it so only children could win and B) Charlie literally won his ticket after a fake 5th ticket was found so the press had died down 'and' he won it the day before the tour began, so there was literally no time for the press to react. Also, Charlie didn't announce he won like the others did, he didn't care about the clout.
There's a Theory that the 4 kids isn't random, they were choosen by the wonka himself. Charlie is the only random kid that Wonka didn't choose. Tge reason is these kids was the kid of a someone who done bad things to Wonka years ago.

I love the Bavarian looking timberframe Düsseldorf. Especially the snowy mountains are hilarious. Especially when you consider that Düsseldorf is a super modern city in the plains on the Rhine river.
I’ve been to Bavaria before and it rained almost the entire time I was there. The only place I saw snow was in the Bavarian alps. Only a few patches but it sure was beautiful despite the rain

Roald Dahl based Augustus, Veruca, Violet and Mike of things he didn’t like in children. He didn’t like greediness, children who where spoilt, chewing gum and children who where obsessed with TV.

It's a case of parents not deciding to take the time to hang out with their child and talk with them, instead they just constantly use electronics to babysit their kids. The kids in the 1971 film were at least partially redeemable as they weren’t necessarily evil but needed better control. The kids in this film are flat out maniacs.
I feel like it’s because of technology in both movies. Because when you look at Mike in the 1971 version, he’s less brooding and more like a kid wanting to watch tv. The Tim Burton one features Mike as this smartass, possibly edgy kid who only cares about video games and being a so-called “genius”

You know how most think Mr. Salt hasn’t learned his lesson on disciplining Veruca until the end of the film? I feel like he did at one point because after giving Veruca the golden ticket she asked for another pony. During the Nut Room scene later in the factory, she explains she has only one pony as a pet. So meaning since that day ever since she hasn’t had another pony.
i like to think that veruca's father won't go so easy on her the next time and that was enough punishment for her seeing as she was really lucky to have gotten out of the factory just covered in trash.

Been awhile since I saw the remake, but I remember the Gene Wilder version implied that A) Willy Wonka had a hand in where his tickets went, so he rigged it so only children could win and B) Charlie literally won his ticket after a fake 5th ticket was found so the press had died down 'and' he won it the day before the tour began, so there was literally no time for the press to react. Also, Charlie didn't announce he won like the others did, he didn't care about the clout.
I remember reading the book in the 3rd grade and in the book the press actually did come to his house

I love the Bavarian looking timberframe Düsseldorf. Especially the snowy mountains are hilarious. Especially when you consider that Düsseldorf is a super modern city in the plains on the Rhine river.

Violet would've seen the factory as "Yet another tropy", either that or she would've started going in competition with other candy companies. Veruca would probably have lost interest in it after 1 hour due to her always looking for something, and mike would've probably closed it due to him not even liking chocolate, he just tried to have the ticket to prove that he's smart

Roald Dahl based Augustus, Veruca, Violet and Mike of things he didn’t like in children. He didn’t like greediness, children who where spoilt, chewing gum and children who where obsessed with TV.
in a way he's right about what Mike portrays. It's a case of parents not deciding to take the time to hang out with their child and talk with them, instead they just constantly use electronics to babysit their kids. Kids can still have electronics but parents gotta try and interact with their children more

You know how most think Mr. Salt hasn’t learned his lesson on disciplining Veruca until the end of the film? I feel like he did at one point because after giving Veruca the golden ticket she asked for another pony. During the Nut Room scene later in the factory, she explains she has only one pony as a pet. So meaning since that day ever since she hasn’t had another pony.

Also imagine if Vercua in the end became the one Wonka decided to give away his entire factory. Mr. Salt would be thrilled 'cause he can use his nuts in the candy bars.
Just Charlie and Augustus like chocolate. The others wanted the golden ticket for different reasons. Mike was probably like Violet, his competitiveness was the main reason for searching for the ticket.
Proving how smart he was, you hit the nail on the head. Mike is just THAT arrogant and self-absorbed, that he'd take time to do something for the sake of proving how much _better_ he _obviously_ is than everybody, whether that's other kids, adults, or anything else.
He can still want to see the factory from inside. It was kind of mystery how it workes since it stayed closed for years. Anyone would like to see it, liked candy or not.

No, he didn't literally hack anything. Mike just figured out the algorithm that determines which bars get sent where, and then just used it to find the bar, which he only had to buy once.
