He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audiende to be seen or heard.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

Here you can hear a large part of fhis vocal range, as well as an incredibly awesome Kazakh instrument. The Kobys. The man who often plays the kobys in Dimash’s performances is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.

Thank you for your emotional reaction. I was much the same the first time I saw this. I knew I was then transformed, but I didn’t know in what way. I had an existential crisis for several weeks. I existed in some kind of fog not being able to understand what I witnessed, but somehow knowing that this was a miracle for me as I had lost my beloved 15 year old daughter to suicide in 2018. Because of Dimash’s beautiful voice and his genuine performance, I could finally understand why she left and that she must have felt exactly as portrayed by Dimash. So…I thank him with all my heart and soul for helping me to understand and find some peace in her decision.

The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! Dimash the soul healer. There is nobody like him in the world for me, nobody can affect me like he does. I still listen to different performances of this song everyday, this specific one I listen to everyday, often multiple times. And it's true for many others of his songs.

It's this song that shot him to worldwide fame back in 2017 when he sang it on a Chinese talent show. He was an unknown in China when he went there, he performed this incredible song on the first show & went viral overnight. By morning he was told he would need security when he went out!
The song is from a 1970's rock opera called Starmania. Many have sung it, but never as great as this.

So glad you got to hear Dimash. There are soooooo many fantastic performances for you to get to. If you want to start at the beginning, instead of the end, as you did with when I've got You, go to The Singer competition in China in 2017. That's where he did S.O.S. first as a wildcard entry, and blew everybody away. Please watch ALLps He calls of it, from the start, when he arrives by plane, including b4 and after he sings to hear him talk (in Qazaq as he spoke no Chinese or English then) You will also get the backstory behind Autumn Strong, Daybreak and Daididau. Very important for u to understand them b4 listening. Fyi Daybreak and Daididau are very sad true stories. DAIDIDAU is always in Qazaq its an older folk song taken from a poem and is so important to Dimash.
I hope u keep going with him, he is an amazing performer and person.

I have seen vocal coaches, cry with tears, running down their cheeks, swear in astonishment, set down their headphones, and walk away from the camera, and to even fell off their chairs! I have seen probably 50 or 60 arms held up to cameras to show the goosebumps.
MANY vocal coaches and professional singers consider Dimash to be the greatest vocalist ever on the face of the Earth. His delivery evokes emotions in people, grabs their hearts and souls, and sends them soaring into the stratosphere. Many people say they have been healed of depression by listening to his voice. And my opinion, he is a great force for healing on the planet. His sweet, kind, generous nature is an example for all of us.
