Surpsingly, that wasn't even one of his favorite songs from Kiss Land, and he barely had anything to say about it. He liked The town, Love in the sky and Belong to the world far more, I think they were his three favorite songs from Kiss land, which is funny, because Professional and Adaption are my personal favorite songs from Kiss Land.

Initiation, as dark as it is, is one of the most musically creative songs The Weeknd has ever written. The up and down modified pitch of his vocals represent the ups and downs, the mania and depression, the girl is experiencing through her adventure of drugs, sex and partying and the lyrics portray what that lifestyle is guiding her to do. It truly is a masterpiece

Echoes of Silence was the perfect end to Trilogy💯
Initiation - as a recovering addict/alcoholic, this song was just a vibe that made my skin crawl when i first heard it. It was my lifestyle at one point, high on uppers and then coming down to ‘normal’ and then messed up on downers, then coming back up, constantly trying to find that miraculous balance that never truly existed. This song weaving between the highs and lows is just such a great musical metaphor for how this day to day tug o war can be so exhausting.
Oh boi Kissland is next, and knowing Jon's taste, it may be his fav 😁😁😁

KISSLAND! Don’t miss out on this masterpiece it’s really lyrical and has a lot of storytelling. It’s also atmospheric and cinematic and the instrumentals are out of this world

The crazy thing about Kissland is when it came out,nobody really fukked with it...other than us die-hard Weeknd fans, but I guarantee that if that record dropped tomorrow, it most definitely would be his biggest album to date!!! Anybody disagree with this statement???

I feel like you need to know this: you actually may be the best music reactor on the whole of RUclips. The way you break down songs/albums and are able to describe so eloquently the sonic and thematic/conceptual elements of music is top tier. I mean to the level you could be a professional music critic (whatever the fuck that is). I think Rock Reacts not being a thing anymore allowed you to reach new depths in terms of analysis. I always want The Weeknd to go back to this type of music but I’m so glad he changed it up also because I fear if he didn’t I would’ve got bored of the same ol music. I don't think I've ever waited a RUclips video as much as I did during this series. You're by far the best one at doing these reactions and it's not even close. To be the man you gotta beat the man, and there's nobody even in the same stratosphere with you. Not sure if you're continuing The Weeknd season, hopefully you do, but at some point would love to hear your thoughts on Trilogy as a whole, when you've had time to go through it with time and Genius. Let me tell you. Kiss Land is whole another world. Trilogy is so dark and mysterious but kiss land has that horror movie vibes in almost every song and the LYRICS!!!! You'll feel like watching a story so get ready for that one.

I remember first getting this, no one knew if "Weeknd" was a group a person or a voice. Oh my god this ep is the best thing I think he ever put out . Dark fantasy as an exposure album but the nostalgic feelings I get listening to this again still gives me chills. Out of the trilogy this was perfection. Thanks Jon for going back over this

Oh hey, react to his standalone track "Enemy" BEFORE KissLand. It was kind of a bridge between the two bodies of work. It wasn't on an album but he has a knack for dropping a tease before the release of a new album. Enemy was first. Then, after KissLand album, he dropped "King of the Fall" before Beauty Behind the Madness.
I keep coming back to all these mixtapes because I’ve still never heard anything like them, it’s awesome watching someone hear it for the first time

I just have to say, your reaction to the first 5 seconds of D.D. is probably the most genuine reaction to anything I've ever seen on any kind of reaction channel. That first little bit of confusion when you hear the opening lines like "Is he really doing this?" Then that little smirk 1:33 when it finally kicks in like "Yeah he's fuckin' doing this." I think I can speak for all Weeknd fans when I say that we had that EXACT reaction. Thank you for restoring the feeling Jon!
This for me is the pinnacle of his mixtapes. The emotions in his singing is super expressive compared to the previous mixtapes. Something about this record is always why it’s in a constant rotation for me.

I loved these reaction videos, Jon! Can't Feel My Face was my first time hearing The Weeknd as well, but I went back, listened to these mixtapes back in 2015 & been a fan ever since then. Your videos also inspired me to listen to Trilogy again recently.

Love the channel, when I heard this mixtape in 2012 it changed the way I forever look at music!
The last songs from the three mixtapes (twenty eight, valerie and here comes the sun) were added when the mixtapes were remastered and released as Trilogy. That’s why ‘here comes the sun’ and the others might sound a bit separate from the other songs, as they were not the original endings to the mixtapes :)
