Glad you finally got to Chiloe' (where my wife's family goes back to the 1600's.) Hundreds of years in Chonchi/Villupulli, and now all of her cousins in Quellon. (saw the shot of you standing at "Hito Zero") There is a tradition in the family of being teachers - the large elementary school , Escuela Eulogia Borquez Perez, was founded by and named for my wife's great aunt. Spending time with, and being warmly received and feted as family by todos los primos de mi esposa in Quellon was the absolute highlight of our trip to Chile. Chilotes are a proud and welcoming people!

A french colleague that also loves Chiloe told me that the most beautiful place in Chiloe is the west coast in front of the open Pacific. It is place in which many whales, dolphins meet to mate. Also there are many types of sea birds

En el año 2011 salí de Santiago a conocer Chiloé y en 2012 me vine a vivir a esta Hermosa Isla llegué a la Ciudad de Dalcahue y aún sigo conociendo lugares fantásticos la tranquilidad es imparable las fiestas constumbristas son fabulosas y la comida exquisita sobre todo el curanto saludos
I went to Chiloe when I was 20 years old. I’m now 40, and I had never forgotten my awesome experience being there. I went there to farewell my country since I was moving to live in the US, place in which I live until today! I really miss all I felt there the time I spent visiting for a month. Places I visited: Dalcahue, Quellon, Chomchi, Castro, Ancud, for as far I can remember. Thank you for this beautiful video showing the absolutely wonderful places of my beloved country❤❤❤.

Un dato curioso es que al curanto se suele llamar así cuando se cocina en un agujero en la tierra, el que comercializan en los restaurantes se le llama "pulmay" que es el mismo curanto pero que se realizó en una olla, Saludos desde castro💙💙

Jon, you are still thinking in english , because of the video title ;), yes Chiloe is a magical and mystical place. In 2017 I visited Chiloe, and I buy a cd music of Chilotean music from Bordemar band, was a magical experience.

El título original del video está en inglés, RUclips lo traduce automáticamente al español cuando lo visitas desde Chile, el problema es que Google lo traduce en forma "tarzanesca" y por eso quedó como quedó. El título original es "The magical island of Chiloé, a must visit destination" y su traducción correcta es "La mágica isla de Chiloé, un destino que debes visitar".

Bueno, yo estuve en Chiloé en enero del 2008, visité Ancud; su mercado con diferentes tipos de licores y artesanía, las pinguineras en donde vi los islotes llenos de pingünos. Conocí los jotes, el caballo chilote que es más pequeño, el cerdo marrón, las nutrias y lo más maravilloso, me topé con pudúes (el ciervo más pequeño del mundo) en estado silvestre y en lo particular son animales muy tímidos.
I loved Chiloé.
Everything is special about that island: the landscape, the architecture, the people and the culture. I am amazed by the place.

El hecho de que Marca Chile te confiara este proyecto, habla de la calidad tanto técnica como de contenido de tu trabajo, ojalá algún día aparte de enseñar inglés, pudieras enseñar a los jóvenes el arte de expresarse con este medio. Chiloe island is all green and full with mystical folklore and tales of magic beings, pretty much like Ireland, but in Chile...
One of my favorite videos you have created. One year ago I was visiting Chiloe. I’m a landscape painter and I really wanted to paint there. What a place to go. I would love to have the opportunity to move there for a year, pay a local fisherman for a room to stay and paint all year around. I know there’s a lot of rain and cloudy days, but they burn wood during the cold season, and that my friend, creates beautiful atmosphere. The people and their unique and colorful boats...and the food?...I better wait for my next comment on that. It’s Wow!

Hola Jon. Si bien estas haciendo estos vlogs para los extranjeros, también nos sirve a mucho de nosotros los chilenos de lugares que algunos no conocen aún. Felicitaciones por tu iniciativa. Además, tu das otro punto de vista y ves muchas cosas que nosotros los chilenos no vemos por ser parte de todos esto. Animo, y sigue adelante con todo esto. Un abrazo!!
Con mi señora fuimos a Chiloé el 2018 (yo ya la conocía parte de la isla en 1982) y ella me decía para que llevar auto a una isla... pues pensaba que era pequeña (plop). Chiloé es del mismo tamaño que la isla de Creta (Grecia) o Puerto Rico: 8.000 kms2); pero además hay muchas otras islas habitadas llenas de tradiciones; formando un arco hasta Chaitén (Chiloé continental). La parte habitada de la gran isla está ubicada al Este, mirando la cordillera, protegida de los vientos permanentes y húmedos del Oeste que descargan gran parte del agua en las cordilleras de Piuchén y Pirulil, aunque de poca altura, por la latitud permiten descargar el agua en la vertiente occidental. La parte más agreste mira al Pacífico y a la zona Sur. Se requiere de muchos días para recorrer toda la isla desde Ancud (la antigua capital); Castro, Chonchi y Quellón, pasando por Dalcahue, Tenaún, Quenchi y otras localidades mágicas. Es muy lluviosa y fría, de allí la vida familiar y la mitología. Los mejores meses son Enero y Febrero. Hoy se construye un puente colgante entre Pargua (continente) y Chacao (isla) de casi tres kilómetros que cruzará el Canal de Chacao (que hasta ahora se cruza en ferries) y que será el puente colgante con la luz más extensa (entre pilar y pilar) de América.
