Love love love my 2000 new beetle 1.9 diesel. Fuel mileage is unmatched! Bought mine in 2003 and never had any issues so far 156,000 miles still going strong
I have a 2001 new beetle gls manual with 357,000 miles… I love this car! And speaking of handling.. I live in the Ozarks, switchback roads like crazy… I know there will be haters.. but I put 2 inch hubcentric wheel spacers on it (been on it for 4 years) and it corners like a monster, (bearings are fine) and it looks like a hot hot wheels car..
All it takes is a little love every once in a while. They get a bad reputation from those that drive them into the ground, only adding fuel and nothing else.
@@nicholaskoenig3106 My son just got back from college with his engineering degree. It served him well. No breakdowns or trouble at all. I did have to change the electric water pump for the turbo, but did that while he was home on Spring Break.
It is way beyond fixing. The timing chain broke in it (I found out) and destroyed the engine. I've pulled enough parts off of it now that it would be a losing battle to bring it back. It lives again in other cars, though.
I am right there with you, mentally. I do not like things going to waste when you have the knowledge and parts to get it back into shape. What I am wondering is how you got your wife to say okay to a third Beetle? LOL!
I’ve had 2 beetles now also and a Jetta, the beetle handles amazing! Don’t drill a hole in your thermostat housing, the 1.8t is self burping. Just squeeze the hoses to create vacuum and get as much air out as possible, then let the car do the rest.
Here to help again ! NB’s Bumper always need to remove with the fender (strange design….)or the attachment between them might be broken by tearing it apart
I was able to remove the bumper cover in one piece by finding all the little screws that held it on. Eventually, I also removed these fenders because they were also damaged. Thanks for the advice.
Good Day Sir! I am from Philippines. I've just watched your videos and I love your passion with the bug. I would like to ask if where can I buy a legitimate new blue beetle seller with a cheap price including the deed of sale.
The best place to look is on the internet. The New Beetles are old now, so a good used car dealer would be my guess. Though I would stick to private sales if I were you.
@@HelicoolsHelipad Sir can I buy your new beetle chassis? I want to know the actual size of it. No one is selling salvaged cars here. All vehicles are bought and recycled.
good afternoon noble friend Dave , I want to follow the restoration of the VW , but did you check before that there was no snake inside?? God bless your work and your life
There were no snakes in or on this car, thank goodness! As a matter of fact, I have not seen that snake since last year. And that is well with me! Be blessed, Sir Valter.
Welcome aboard! I have two running and one parts Beetle. This project took a lot of parts from that "parts" vehicle, but that is what it was meant for. Hope you get one and can be fully healed.
😂Hey Dave . got a few lights on...Most people would trip out..Not Dave..Dave knows whats going on..I have a 2001 glx 1.8t...Oh yea ive done a few things to it..Yes its had some lights on..But now she runs fine..
Just got the wife a 2000 model 2.0l trendline . Paint is shot but good solid car . Came with 17inch turn 1 porsche replica rims. Its a automatic transmission for now but looking for a crashed audi rs 4 or rs3 . The plan is to add the rs audi motor and tiptronic transmission and braking system. After that custom interior .....they are famtastic. Lots of guys here jn southafrica havebinstalled a vw vr6 motor and skme also add parts from the kld audi tt. Great underated vehicle
I have a 2002 Volkswagen beetle turbo S and the check engine light to come on sometimes and then goes off but not all the time does anybody know what that is please
You need to hook a code reader up to it. The computer should save all the information, so you don't have to wait for the check engine light to remain on. You can hook one up for free at any AutoZone, O'Reilies, etc..
Yes, there are more videos to his build... right up until my son took it 6 hours away to college. Check out the playlist... ruclips.net/p/PL_reA0ZH2rCSkPvfC16XfTiIxLfhR-0-H ...I know they are sprinkled in there... just look for the part numbers (i.e. part 2, part 3, etc.)
@@HelicoolsHelipad it's like driving a go kart..the lil turbo spins up and it takes off..I have a few mods..ko3s turbo..race n75 valve..tune..race diverter valve..race n249 valve.. downpipe and exhaust.. Hi, just got myself a 2004 VW Beetle and I'm looking to gradually fix it up. I'm on the hunt for a mechanic in Miami with reasonable prices. Appreciate any recommendations you can throw my way. Thanks a bunch in advance!
got so tired of my TDI's running away. 2 of them now.... on last one this was even after swapping to brand new injection pumps and turbo.. and it still ran away a year and a half later (still with in range on timing belt). Presently driving a BEW closing on on 300k miles a friend gave me... but once I get my dieselized Jeep TJ working where I trust it (w/ MB OM617A)..... I will sell all the TDI's. just flat burned out on them. Granted this is useless rambling since this thread is about a Petrol New Beetle.
I have a TDI New Beetle as well... love the car. Going on 320K... I don't think the turbo spins anymore, but I don't really want to put any money into it due to it's miles. I've never had a diesel run away (thank goodness). Sounds scary. This one looks like it will serve my son for his first semester of his Senior year in college. I hope to have it done for him, and then it's working on his car... found water in the oil. :-/

The corning is awesome, even without the spacers. I can't imagine it getting better, but yours is living proof.
Awesome! 👍
Can't wait to give a rip for the first time.

That was a good question. I had to promise to get rid of the parts car by August. I don't know if I'll make it, but I'm going to try.

Needed old Beetle or Kaefer )))
Thankfully, I have the car parts from the silver car. I've been using parts off of it for a year now. It has been very generous to me.
6 months ago I bought the exact same beetle but I got lucky that it’s in very good shape and the owner changed the timing belt and other things.
Wow! Got lucky with that one! Timing belt change in these kinda sucks for a guy with big hands. 😁

I have a crazy brother that taught me that technical term. I feel like I used it in its correct context, but I can't really be sure.

The best thing I like about it is restoring it to it's former glory. It is crying out for help... so I could not resist. More to follow, my friend.
In case you don't already know, that is a Blue Lagoon Color Concept.

I have not had to do that yet... knock on wood. But I am sure you will find some kind of video on YT on how to do that.

Generally speaking? Specifically, the chassis is 100% VW, but may have some characteristics of other car manufacturers.
