If someone can play quiet Michael Corleone and loud Tony Montana so well and maintain their intensity... He has to be one of the best actors of all time and someone who can play any role
Have you watched him in Panic in Needle Park and in...and Justice for all? Beautiful performances early in his film career
Tribal Peacock absolutely and not to forget scent of a woman
He's not so good doing comedy. Drama is his main strength.
@@starofgideon i know he has done more comedy in real life than in reel life but trust me if he had chances or if he would have wanted to change his godfather type of image in the industry to a funny man he would have mastered that area as well.. though he did well in his own way in jack and jill and once upon a time in hollywood
Fuck Tony Montana, I’m going with VINCENT HANNAH. THAT performance is very fucking loud.
Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro - The holy trinity of the acting world.
Yeah wish Brando was alive 😔❤️
joe pesci should be included in that. too
@רועי כספי Oh I do. He's spectacular. His acting in The Godfather and in Apocalipse Now is beyond incredible
@רועי כספי whaaat? I think Marlon's perfomance in the first Godfather was the best acting in the entire trilogy! But of course, Al Pacino's perfomance in Part 2 is incredible as well.
Daniel day Lewis
For his performance in Devil's Advocate, a reviewer in India wrote: Devil himself couldn't have done it that good 😈
Diwakar Pant he was AWESOME in that!!
I love his performance on that movie

Personally, not only do I think "Godfather Part II" was Pacino's best performance, but it's one of the best performances of all time.
In my Top 5 best performances of all time.
It's really haunting.
I completely agree.
+Akil Ali
I hate how Brando is seen as the face of The Godfather saga. He was great, but Pacino is in a whole other league.
Sorry, but when Brando says: "Look at how they messed with my boy" while looking at Sonny, that was intense man.
No one else can play the role 'Tony Montana' this perfectly. Al Pacino is a legend.
Al Pacino can never be replaced he’s a natural. You seen the rest but he’s the best His every line is perfection
He deserves minimum 3 oscars!!!
francescogeo he was nominated for freaking 7 Oscars or more and won Just one, such a shame...
Should have won and deserved 5 total Oscars: Godfather (supporting role). Godfather 2. Dog Day Afternoon. Serpico. Scent of a Woman. Note- One of Hollywood's best director, Alfred Hitchcock, NEVER WON a best Director Oscar.
John Tompkins and scarface
Oscar is overratted
francescogeo I say 4
The Godfather Part 2
Scent of a Woman
Dog Day Afternoon (Yes, I think he acted better than Jack Nicholson that year)
Scarface (Talk about range)
The one thing Pacino does that many actors cannot do, is to make the role believable, and carry the spirit of any role on film without being seen as someone else he played as in an earlier movie. Like, if you see Keanu Reeves in The Devil's Advocate, odds are, you mostly see him as Neo from the Matrix. Al Pacino on the other hand, when you see him in The Devil's Advocate, you don't see him as Michael Corleone, or Tony Montana. You see him as John Milton. He is SO talented that he can make that work. He is so into every role that he is in, that he isn't Al Pacino on screen. He is not this bland actor that you saw on Dog Day and continue to see him as Sonny on another film. You see him as a different person on each film he is in. It takes so much skill to do this. It will be the saddest day when he passes. He is my all time favorite actor and will forever be a legend.
I'm waiting for The Irishman...
he can never die, his legacy lives forever, you just cannot say something like that, its disrespectful.
the list of his great roles could've been longer if he would've accepted Apocalypse Now, Kramer vs. Kramer, Se7en, The Usual Suspects,...
yet, he Is the greatest to me... he brings the character to life and makes you completely forget that you're actually watching a movie!
That's so true
He was not Milton he was the devil himself
His acting in Scent Of A Woman was stellar. He is a gift to his craft.
Carlito's Way... the ending scene will forever be my fav movie scene ever.
Classic
Just watched it recently. And it was so good
Hell yeah next to scarface my favourite al pachino performance
Audios chancellor
it is my favourite film. Seen it too many times. Love the soundtrack too
In 5 years, Al Pacino did the following movies:
Godfather
Serpico
Godfather part II
Dog Day Afternoon
These movies in JUST 5 years! This should easily have been atleast 3 oscars in 5 years!
john cazal did better!
Whew.
he did those in 4 years, not 5
Sarthak Nayak glad you mentioned serpico , that movie doesn’t get enough attention!! And it’s a true story
should have gotten an oscar for each one imo
"Say hello to my little friend!!!" Ahhh, just love it. One of the best memorable frases of all time...

"The Irishman" is another great triumph for Pacino!
Dog Day might be the most powerful performance I’ve ever seen
Br Greg how so?
That silent scream in Godfather Part III is one of his best, I get chills every time, no matter how iffy the movie is.
Yeah, i think it shouldnt be just the Michael from part II but all the trilogy
I agree
In an interview I saw of his, he said how they edited that scene to have him scream silently.
yes absolutely right
To me I think the godfather 3 is underrated
Carlitos Way is such a fantastic and underrated movie!
Fucking great movie ever
Here comes the pain
I think godfather 3 underated I don't get why people hate it very good movie I thought donnie brasco was one of his best movies ever pacino did some great movies
@@ryanevans126 Al Pacino’s performance is not underrated at all
@@I-495he mean Godfather 3 the story in the movie alone we know Pacino is the goat but people always mention godfather 1 or 2 but left 3 out it’s just as good but a diff tone in my opinion he really got older and wise and regretted much things and wanted to legit it’s so realistic but sadly Michael couldn’t escape the life but that is what the movie so good
I'm Tony Montana " say hello to my little friend". That's a classic lol
His performance in “And Justice for all” should have made top 10
You’re out of order!
one of his best performances honestly
For some reason I've always felt that scarface was the most influential and greatest performance he has ever done, should have been number 1
Yeah I liked him in Scarface more than any other movie, but he's a legend so all these movies are good.
Dude I am from Miami and he insulted the Cuban people with his crappy accent and go to tough guy mantra. Don't get me wrong it was an amazing film because of the plot, but Al's Cuban style put a bad taste in my mouth and other Cuban people as well.
442hoeky for the sake of comedy, not the sake of realism asshole
Scarface is Al Pacino's best performance. He "WAS" Tony Montana!
Scarface was definitely his best role
TCM that's what I'm saying. Scarface was his best movie and the best movie ever made. he fit the role soooooo well. amazing.
+Eyan McFarland
"The Godfather" is way better
' I said She is a lion. She belongs to me'
'The eyes, chiko, they don't lie'
Pacino's performance in the Godfather 2 is unmatched by any male or female actor. The intensity was so prevalent in so many scenes. Raw emotion. Just a spellbinding performance.
Hands down, he’s one of the best and in real life, he’s actually quite humble.
My friend met Pacino on a street corner-Upper West side in 1989 or 1990. He asked her to go have coffee, and she said no !! She had a social organizational meeting she could have skipped. What a fool. Think of how many women would die to spend some time w/Pacino. he probably was not used to getting turned down. He must be humble because she was just another person on the street.
@@Karen-dk1ec Damn, what was wrong with that girl??? LOL. I would say hell yeah and run off with him.😍
Damn, even the honorably mentioned roles are lengendary!
My favorite is Micheal Corleone in The Godfather.
I loved when he played Lucifer in the Devil's Advocate
This is why he's my favorite actor. He is so amazing at what he does. His performances are just awing.
Me too. 😊
I love Al Pacino! One of the best actors of ALL time! In my opinion!
"Never betray your family". This iconic dialog of Pacino from godfather ll is the best scene I've ever watched in my life.
"...and justice for all" is so underrated but I'm still surprised that it didn't make the list or even the honorable mentions! Al was brilliant in it!
E. Ar Agreed, Al felt quite believable as a lawyer, had some memorable acting scenes in it too.
I agree with "And Justice For All" being underrated. I thought the closing Courtroom scene was not only Great- But Funny and Rousing. Al Pacino standing up against Injustice
That movie is soo good. I remember my Dad being glued to it from start to finish.
I believe that that role was the most any actor ever got paid up to that point and he DESERVED it. By far his most under-rated performance and quite possibly his best.
You are out of order, This whole list is out of order.
1. The Godfather Part I
2. The Godfather Part II
3. Scarface
4. Dog Day Afternoon
5. Serpico
6. Scent of a Woman
7. And Justice For All
8. Heat
9. The Godfather Part III
10. Donnie Brasco
Agreed!

Thanks haha, although come to think of it, I actually would change it and put Godfather II over the first one.

Carlito's way?
When he’s gone I will say this: Film was invented for us to enjoy watching Al Pacino! That’s not an overstatement that’s the truth
Amen 🙏
It was the Devil's Advocate that got me into him. Truly an icon.
Yes, my favorite.
Me too
I miss the younger version of Pacino. Not because of his boyish looks, but because of his calm way of talking and being more threatening that way, rather than always yelling. Which is cool as well.
yes he was the most intimidating soft spoken guy, puts a chill down your spine when he was threatening you softly. "I knew it was you....you broke my heart." Top that off with the kiss of death. Amazing
PapomanResurrect Damn right. He sort of went on cruise control after 2000 and kept to a particular style of acting that was always loud. Still better than most actors of today, but he was never at full-throttle again after 'Devils Advocate'.
gutz1981 But in Scarface he yells all the time, and it's for sure one of his best performaces...
thomaserato It is at that. But his intimidation factor IMO was at his highest when he would be at a low tone, then even suddenly rise. Like in the final scene in 'The Godfather' with Kay. "Don't ever ask me about my business Kay." "Michael is it true?" "ENOUGH!" slams his hand on the table.
gutz1981 I agree with you, I just think the he didn't start yelling when he was getting older, he already did it when he was younger. But I couldn't agree more about The Godfather performance.
Makes a video about Al Pacino
Censors the fucks.

Película. Misión de tom Cruz
I like the bleep lol
Fuck Gaspar Gomez and fuck the fucking Diaz brothers,FUCK EM ALL!!!...
The Irishman, probably must be on this list soon. Jimmy Hoffa, you know😎
I got so much irritated by his character at irishman. Hoffa just wont listen!
@@baconator6374. That's great! In reality Jimmy Hoffa is a goddamn knucklehead and Al Pacino played that very realisticly. If you haven't watched Hoffa (1992) Well you've got to 'coz even Jack Nicholson played Hoffa that way
this video loaded at 2014

Balot TV
You know, Nicholson looks more like Hoffa than Pacino and i just can't get over it, its crazy.
It was amazing to see him, Pesci and De Niro together in a movie so late in their careers, Pesci even coming out of retirement to do it. Looking past everything that was said about the CGI and them being old and slow and whatnot, I think it was an awesome swan song for all them.
Mr Pacino is fantastic! A compelling actor who is so dedicated to his roles that it shows in his performances. In my opinion he has no bad performances.

IMO Tony Montana of Scarface should've been his top 2 performance but nothing can top his performance of Michael Corleone on The Godfather trilogy films. Still, i'm a fan of Mr. Pacino!!!
Nah his performance in Dog Day Afternoon is definitely superior to Tony Montana. Dog Day Afternoon showed his widest range as an actor/character.
you guys forget about the scent of a woman. In fact, i think he is one of the few actors in history who has been exceptional in every single movie he has taken part in. Best actor of all time
His best performances was portraying Michael Corleone and portraying Tony Montana
ATTICA!!!!
Happy 80th birthday Al. Thanks for all the joy and intensity that you brought to millions of people. There are no words to describe how exceptional you are.
"Say hello to my little friend"
-Tony Montana
al pacino is the greatest actor to have ever been in motion pictures
In his genre only
Daniel day lewis and de niro are on the same level
Yep 100% right
Pacino, De Niro & Daniel Day-Lewis are the greatest actors I've ever seen & 'Heat' & 'The Godfather Part II' are the best films ('There Will Be Blood' is also a masterpiece for you DDL fans).
there are too many greats out there
The Panic In Needle Park. I loved that movie, he has so much character. It was his first leading role in film as well.
Al Pacino is such a good actor, a true legend! My favorite role of his is Michael Corleone from The Godfather trilogy, but I also loved him in Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, Scent of a Woman, and much more. And to think the studio initially didn't want him to play Michael when they were casting Godfather-he proved them all wrong!

Devils advocate is my number 1. Man that scene where he reveals himself to Keanu was nothing short of a masterpiece.
IM A FAN OF MAN !!!
The Devil´s Advocate is the most underrated movie of all time!
TabooTabby he was hilarious as the devil. What about fellow Italiano Robert Di Nero, who also played the horned, evil deity in "Angel Heart"? Nicholson played satan in "The Witches of Eastwick". Viggo Mortensen played beelzebub in "The Prophecy". LOL
Don Corleone --> The Best

Thanks
I obviously knew Michael Corleone was gonna be #1 before clicking on this video cause The godfather is a classic
My favorite actor ever. No matter what role it is he elevates it, and you becomes it.
He was good in Christopher Nolan's Insomnia too. He was so accurate.
The Godfather might be his most classic performance but Scarface is his best. Should be number 1
+. Hell Yeahh!!
+. say hello to my little friend
The Godfather is superior
Tombo Slice people like you shouldn't be allowed to watch films
Agreed .
There are so many great characters he portrayed. One of my favorite movies with him unfortunately didn't make it in this list: The merchant of Venice (film adaption of Shakespeare's play). Seeing Al Pacino as Shylock is an awesome moment I will never ever forget in my entire life
I would’ve included his performance in “Scarecrow” at least as an honorable mention. A movie that was released in 1973, the same year as Serpico. Underrated but brilliant film.
Yes!!!! I forgot about that film!
Totally agree with you. For me on Pacino, more Scarecrow, less Scarface. That scene near the end gets me more every time I see it. You also see a very different Pacino, a naive goofball, whose heart is so very much in the right place that Gene Hackman’s character is endeared enough by him to stick with him and offer him a role in his upcoming business.
If young Al Pacino and Young Johnny Depp were in a movie together, I wouldn't be able to handle all that.. 🔥🔥 lord. ❤️
Watch donnie brasco they are both on the same film. Robert deniro is still top 1
"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in."
... is basically Al Pacino's relationship with the gangster movie genre.
He was at his pick in Dog Day Afternoon. Never seen a better performance by any actor
Carlito’s way and Scarface are my best movies
The Two directed by Brian De Palma.
The ending from The Godfather III, when his daughter dies... look it up... One of the best scenes of all time in movie history. Al, you’re a legend, I love you.

You guys don't have to do this daily you know. I would be happy looking forward to this 2x a week... not that you guys are running out of ideas or anything but daily must be a fuck ton of work.
Maybe it was Gaspar Gomez or maybe even one of the Diaz brothers. Maybe Sonny Black. Or maybe it was that piece of shit Benny Blanco from the Bronx.
Carlitos way should have been his #1 performance in a movie I loved that movie!!!!!!!
Hehehe is funny
gutz1981 Benny Blanco's dead, he waved a gun in the wrong persons face & I took it from him & shoved it up his ass
With the amount of amazing performances you'd have to make at least a top 20 list to do him justice!

You'd seriously put Scarface over The Godfather & Heat? That's a yikes. You should rewatch all those films then rank them again. Scarface is way too cheesey & hammy & as an overall film I wouldn't even put it in Pacino's top 5 tbh.
@@NevxrBackDown theres something called an opinion buddy. Learn about it
@@Medal6 yea, you are right
.....I wouldn't say there's incest in Scarface....he doesn't wana have sex with his sister, he's just extremely over-protective of her. I personally have seen Scarface over 100 times and I've never picked up the "incest" aspect of it. I could be wrong though. That's just my opinion. And number one is also Scarface in my opinion. Just because he seemingly BECAME a cuban to play that part.
True. I can't easily change to an accent like I was born with it. He's just a good actor regardless and I can't choose.
I agree.... as i also have watched scarface too many times in my life to say that tony is incest with his sister.... scarface is a great american classic, don't get me wrong though, The godfather is also a masterpiece, but id say scarface should have also been 1st on the list... as well as "Dog day afternoon"
yeah, it's not incest on his behalf..in the film..he was just extremely over protective of her and didn't want her to go the road he did. The only innocence in his life. Her at the end when she made the gesture... and he said.."what are you talking about?"...proves it wasn't in his mind ever. She was high and caught up. When he killed Manolo at the door..he was FURIOUS. She was ruined in his eyes.
Exactly...thats what im saying
@@Abma-gv2bj The Character of his Sister said Tony wanted to have sex with her. It is more Covert Incest. He never did have Sex with her, but maybe because she is the only woman who has never hurt him (till he kilsl her Husband and former friend), he has strong feelings for her including sexual feelings.
I could watch this man sweep a floor. He is awesome.
My favorite actor of all. Loved the list. Thank you very much for it people from WatchMojo.
Al pacino is like fine wine.. getting better and better with time 🎉🔥❤️
The guy is a legendary actor...
Pacino's performances are so legendary it's really hard to choose between them, but I will admit that Godfather Part II is one of my favorite moves of all time.
Brian Roth I also thought that his performance as the mayor of New York City in City Hall should have earned an honorable mention.
I was born in '84, in Portugal, and growing up I kept finding myself just mesmerized by every Al Pacino performance, in any movie I could get my hands on that featured him. I wish he could go back in time, be young again, and keep working. Would give my measly insignificant life for that.
Personal favourite of mine is Heat. I found out about this movie out of the blue, and hardly ever heard it mention ever since it was released. It features such an intense battle of Crime vs Law, blurring the lines between good and evil, features such an amazing cast (including a very young Natalie Portman also featured in "Leon, The Professional" - another excellent movie), and what about that downtown shooting scene? OMG, excellence.

Scarecrow, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Cruising, Panic in Needle Park, are some of his lesser known but amazingly complex performances. Frankly much better than some of his later electrifying but over the top performances.

We were required to write our take (kind of an essay) on any movie for one of our English papers for our 12th ICSE Boards .. Usually, these sort of things are very structured and bear very little originality as its done purely as an exercise in futility.. I don't know what came over me, but I was so moved with his performance as Frank Slade in Scent of A Woman that I wrote about how it taught a young 16 year old boy about integrity and courage.. Maybe I was lucky that it struck a chord with the examiner, because I aced that paper.. But even if I hadn't got a good grade on that paper, I still cherish the feeling that overcame me when I was writing it.. I've remembered that for ~ 15 years now and I'll remember that until I'm here.. That's the power Pacino has.
"And justice for all" deserves to be on the list at the very least and honorable mention
How on earth had we not done this list, yet?
(a nicer, more diplomatic, less smartass & gangsta way of saying: exhibit Z98765 why we will NEVER run out of ideas ;)
Mr X
Umm I think that there's a bit of context here that I'm missing.
Trevor Onyango When we do something like Top 10 Chemical Brothers Songs or Top 10 Scenes With Villains on the Roof of the Car we always get the odd trolls saying "its official WM has run out of ideas" even though those are top rated suggestions that are upvoted by users... We always counter that
i) we like to keep the Mojoholics guessing as to what our next top 10 is,
ii) we like variety... and
iii) we will NEVER run out of ideas, because each idea spawns 10 ideas.... and the WatchMojo.com/suggest tool ensures a steady supply of ideas.
So my point here was, this Pacino is a no-brainer list to do, and there remain 1,000,000 "obvious" lists like this along with 100,000,000 less obvious ones.
