    Quick tip on doing bodywork, when welding have a decently sized block of metal behind where you are welding, preferably copper, it helps dissipate the heat much better allowing you to use a higher amperage and in doing so getting a better weld, I love what you've done with this gem keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing some more

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  3 года назад

      Thank you so much! I've started using a squished bit of copper pipe as a backing. My welder is quite old and the feed rate is inconsistent so its been tricky trying to get my skills consistent too!

    Just wondering why you re-zinc all your bolts rather than replacing them?

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  3 года назад

      Thanks so much! The bolts had uncommon thread pitches, lengths and unthreaded sections for sheer strength. Rather than source them I thought it'd be sufficient to re-plate them as they weren't in such a bad condition. Stuff like head bolts should be one-time use though.

    Excellent video. I am a great fan of the Datsun 1200. I have a Datsun B310 120Y that I have used for a while. However, the steering is unstable now and I can't use the car due to safety issues as a result of that. What should be checked. I tried getting a used steering box but it did not improve the situation. Please advise on what I should do....I miss driving the car :(

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  3 года назад

      Thanks! Sorry to hear about your Datto - they're quite a simple car so you should be able to follow the components down from the steering wheel to see if anything moves out of the ordinary. Usually the Tie-rod ends give-out and introduce a bit of play in the steering. If nothing is wrong, good tyres and a wheel-alignment should do it good :)

      For my suspension, everything except the coil overs are OEM, I just cleaned them up a little. The coil overs I got off second hand locally :) Super lucky!
      For the little engine parts, BProjects in japan has pretty much everything. If you're in Australia I get a lot of my aftermarket OEM replacements from Supercheap Auto or Repco.
      Then everything else I get from eBay re-sellers! I find heaps of my parts on eBay. Just make sure to double-check the seller. They often have they're own online or physical store.
      Including my bushings, every single polyurethane bushing and dust boot came from eBay :)
