DATSUN BUILD - COMPLETE LOWER DOOR SILL REPAIR (#22)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- This video shows the full repair of the passenger rocker sill on the Datsun 1200. A whole lot of rust repairs, but luckily I've got the replacement panel for the sill itself. Step by step, we inch closer to getting her on the road! Apologies for the poppy voiceover audio in this one 😘
Make sure to show your mates what I did in this video:

32Builds is a channel to showcase the progress and techniques I will use on my Datsun 1200 restoration project. I post videos on my build projects, various how to's as well as footage of events that I visit. My aim is to show you that with enough passion and persistence, anything is achievable.
Why 32? The number 32 is pronounced 'san-nii' in japanese, sounding like Sunny. This channel was birthed on the build progress of my 1976 Datsun Sunny pick-up. To checkout the full playlist of the build progress, check out the link below!

Thanks for stopping by :)
We have much love for you in SA🇿🇦
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Cheers guys! 😍
I hope you are ok. Waiting for an update. Love your work.
Came here to comment something similar. It's nice to be able to follow a more relatable build online. Keen to see this one through to completion!
I was impressed. That's the way I make things with that labor of love; persistence, patience and determination to get it right, as long as it takes and whatever it takes. 9.5/10
I just finished watching this series of videos, far out what a great project, it's so nice to see a small vintage vehicle being restored, it's so typical that only the big muscle cars are restored, very talented!!!
If only I had the time, equipment, and perseverance that you clearly have. I had a Nissan Datsun 120Y Coupe as my first car, and this brought back a lot of memories. I do believe the early Datsun's had a lot of rust issues because of the poor quality of steel and the absence of knowledge of adverse environmental issues of countries they were exported to. Absolute pleasure to watch, very well done indeed!
Love how you get into it with limited space. Cant wait until you get your own shed. Keep up the great work!
Cheers! Owning a shed is defs on my bucketlist 🤣
You show great patience in your work, very well done. I hope to see you back on the build.
Hi guy... I enjoy your bids so much. Are you not going to finish your build?
Hey man the bolts you used on the tail shaft, the factory bolts have a shoulder that takes the load, definitely keep an eye on them 🤙
When are we seeing the final content for this datsun??? This is very informative videos and it seems it is not done yet...
Thank you for taking the time to show your work on the truck, Amazing job!
Really love your vids and editing. Also on the car your work is impressive! mate. Very cool channel
Thank you for the love! 😍
Really awesome 👏🏽 I have learned a lot of things watched your videos thank you by your content, greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
You are so cool !
I want to see the continuation !
We need you back
Another Great Video. I already went through all that rust fixing job in my coupe. It took me a long time but now it is rust free. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t wait for you to finish this project. This is so satisfying! I’m planning on getting a Datsun Sunny and I’ve been watching a lot of restoration videos and stumbled upon yours. Keep it up!
Graham from XA Coupe Guy would be so proud as you break the complex into simple and do one task at a time. Having a stretcher tool and a shrinker tool might help and make life easier but after the seam welder you just purchased you may not have that cash available.
Haha yeah, it was a little hard to find so maybe I can flip it for around the same price.
For the time being I can work around my lack of shrinker stretcher 😁
All the way from San Francisco bay area, love your vids, and can do attitude. Love the progress. I'll be doing this soon on a 69 510/1600. Couple tips. Try and keep your grinding disc parallel with the area being ground. It keeps it from diverting the metal. Also, maybe try and use a Mini belt sander. Either way, thank you!
Thanks!! Yeah I've been thinking about getting myself a mini belt sander soon!
What did you end up coating your floor did you recoat the bitumen stuff I have a 1973 4 door sedan with an a14 twin SU carburettor why did you end did you get kicked out of your apartment with all the noise and the smells 19:21 I am in Tasmania can smell it over the fence when are the question did you end up filling in the Cowling gaps so water cannot get in thanks you are an inspiration well done
Its been 2 years need more videos
Very satisfied builds...Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching!!
Wow your dedication to detail is encouraging. I'm almost done with my Red one. Just points and condenser with carburettor prep
Keep going you have boosted me to promod my SSS. 👍🙏
Just awesome, I cant wait to see the finish project
Thanks so much! Me too!
You've been busy, body work is quite demanding. Awesome build 🤙🏼
Cheers buddy! Yeah heaps of time spent problem solving haha
Great series. Following closely from Japan with a rescued sunny /1200 ute project of my own. Its been a while since tour last video, hope the ute gets finished and all is well.
number ONE fan back again here , all the way from South Africa , bro the content is amazing as always , clean job you did there✔✔✔
Thank you so much Duncan!!
Inspirational stuff.. gotta ask cause this is pretty extensive/time consuming work do you ever ask yourself "what have I got myself into" 😅.. I know I do a lot with half as big jobs 🤣🤣
Haha cheers! Yeah sometimes, but I remind myself to enjoy the process while I'm at it as well 😂 Really enjoying picking up the new skills and fixing her up!
Sick project dude. Any updates?
might be crazy but always wanted one of this to add a sunroof small operable windows from cabin to bed and added sace behind the seats to act as storage or a woofer cabinet
It’s been over 2 years since you uploaded this last video and we will like to see an update of this beauty.
Awesome!! I just started to rebuild one, it’s a b110 like yours but the coupe model
Thanks! The coupe model is sexy! Good luck with your build!!
I forgot how much body work this truck needs . Keep at it Man .
I know 😂 Most of the shots have been of the front of the car until now. Focus time 😄
Hello, how are you? We need more content until we see how everything works perfectly, I'm from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
hola como estas michael excelente el trabajo que llevas durante todos estos años, para llevar acabo la restauracion de tu datsun 1200. esperando con ansias el video #23
eres mi guia por tus videos, estoy llevando acabo la recontruccion de mi datsun 1200.
Cheers man
Good video I see your oll video
To keep distortion down, use compressed air after each tack weld to cool it down. Takes time, but keeps distortion down. Also spreading out the tack welds all over the weld seam instead of going in a line.
P.S. the best guy I ever found on youtube for tips and tricks with sheet metal fabrication is Fitzee's fabrications
Hey Michael, checking in after the recent floods, hoping you and your Datsun weren't too affected by recent events. Been following you from the start and finally picked up an 84 model today that also requires a buttload of hard work and long hours. Not quite as much rust as yours but there is a lot of questionable backyard repair work to rectify.
Love these vids, watching from Sydney !
Thanks mate! Hopefully you'll be seeing me rolling around town in it one day!
any updates
Good work dude🙌 I admire your perseverance
Cheers Ryan 😊
Nice. Great job. Thank you for sharing...
Cool techniques!!
Cheers!
Great work. Love to see it
Thank you!
Werry nays...cool ...
Great video as always. the repair went very well !!!
Cheers! I'm glad that's the general consensus 😂
Bro you're a legend!
Binge watched this the last 2 days... now I ran out of content :(
Keep up the good work! and hopefully there was some progress in the last 6 months! I see your Insta and FB is also quiet :(
What happened? We are waiting for the rest of the build 🥺. Is every thing fine?
Really clean man keep it up
Thank you!
Nice work
Cheers! 😊
Great job man!! Love your videos!! Greetings.
Thanks you!! 😁
Love the metal work dude.
Thank you!! 🥰
@@32Builds In my experience. lower sills are the most daunting challenge for an unskilled dude to take on and probably the nr1 reason many people turn away from fixing a vehicle. Im sure this video alone will be instrumental in saving many that would otherwise have been scrapped.
Amazing mate!
Thank you!!
I love your videos hermano... Do a video of the braking system please... Play the Cali Roots 2021 Riddim instrumental on it as a secret shout out... Cheers
Thanks!! Yes brake system will be coming up in a future video!!
The amount of work in such cramped conditions is respected. My wife does not allow me to wash spare parts in the sink)) PS and then? how are things with the car? You did it right!?
Awsome restoration broo🔥🔥💪
Thank you!!
Saludos desde Ecuador que no hay más videos de su restauración
Great job👍👏👏👏
nice work man, will have to check the rest of your vids now ;) *ive got a 720 but nowhere to work on it currently, so its a real tease watching vids like this lol
Part 23 plz
Love your work and your attitude and your videos it’s come such a long way keep up the good work bud 👍
Thank you so much 🥰
There's a product called cavity wax that we use in automotive repairs, it has a 360 degree nozzle and coats the inside of repairs with wax protecting welds and repairs from potential rust. Might be useful if you can get your hands on it. I'm studying automotive body tech and use this a lot
ruclips.net/video/AUiZ3t4_izM/видео.html you can see it being used at 15:35
Really good job bro...💯💯👌💯
Cheers! :D
Hi, I’ve just bought a dato 1000, it’s awesome what you have done with your series and I’ll be using as a guide… love to throw some questions your way if ok, cheers

Ya still alive mate? Been 11months since an update 😆
I think it's time for me to take care of my rust bucket Datsun B110 sedan too. But chassis thing is maybe too big for my skill set. Is there any link for me to buy body parts, window gaskets & seals? Cheers from Malaysia 🇲🇾
keep it up mate!
Brother i hve 1965 datsun 1200...Zimbabwe i cant find the parts
We are waiting for the final result...good work though
Great job! And really cool editing btw :)
Cheers!! ❤
Amigo cuando subes más vídeos del 1200???
Well done, how much experience do you have with fabrication and welding?
More video
That car had more rust than mine, but it's looking beautiful
Hahaha thanks!
When is the next episode coming?
What’s going on with this build?
Only Good Datsun Ute series on RUclips and you didn’t finish the series?
I notice you weld too much at once, you're stitching 3-5 cm in one go. You should tack, move over 2-3 cm, tack, and repeat all around the place you weld. Let cool and start over next to the first tacks... etc until the whole weld is done. It should reduce warping.
Also, let me know if you need reference pictures/videos, mine does have a few of the same holes as yours, but I should be able to snap some for you despite the snow that's coming...
Thanks so much for the support! Yeah I've noticed with pieces with a bit of structure I can get away with the stich welding. With the flats I need to be more patient and do one spot at a time! Cheers 😁
Do you have new videos of this car?
Nice jobe mate. What gauge sheet metal are you using for the body panel repair
What happened to the rest of the build
Really want to see finished car
Hey man, haven't seen any new videos for a while now. Is everything ok?
wauw nice...where did you get the black new panels from?

What is the thickness of the sheet metal you were using?
Update anytime soon?
