Because production thought it was a waste of time to fill up an episode. From Season 31 onward, they like to fill up the entire 42 minutes with StRatEGy & BiG mOvEZ, even though ALL of the fans were upset that the auction was taken away.
@@jordand6641 They used the whole Mike Holloway thing as an excuse to cancel the auction. Geeze just tell them before hand they'll be no big advantage in the game. They didn't like FIVE people refusing to bid on food to get an advantage in the game, and the whole Will and Shirin nastiness stemming from Will's auction win. But World's Apart was unique and they didn't have to cancel the auction because of that.

They were SO DAMN stingy on Australian Outback. Geeze. I don't like watching them be that damn stingy. There was that one reward challenge where they gave the winner ONE SLICE of pizza. Which they made him share a tiny bit to each person plus a phone call from home. I actually really enjoy them getting a big spread for reward not this crap.

It's understandable actually. Chocolate has sugar which they definitely were needing. But doretos and salsa is just yummy, no benefit.

Survivor needs to do an auction like this again. Bits of food. NO advantages or clues. Just plain nourishment. Nobody would expect it.
But the advantages make a whole new point in the game

Well it was the 2nd season
In early survivor, especially this one, they legit starved the contestants to though. Like this group didnt have rice for days I remember.
no way! it meant so much more because they had nothing else to go off of. I think 4 doritos meant just as much to them as when they started to give massive meals in the later seasons

In the season that just finished (David Vs. Goliath) there was a challenge where Christian got to talk to Jeff for about 5 hours, obviously they couldn't and wouldn't air all of it, but after the season, Christian did an interview and talked about what he talked about during that challenge. One of the things he asked Jeff was if the auction would come back: "Jeff said the Survivor auction, in his estimation, will not come back. I told him I liked it! His reasoning was that it's not as interesting to watch hungry people eat food anymore."

In the earlier seasons the survival aspect was a bigger focus of the show. That's why the portion sizes were small. They used to talk about how much weight everyone lost，now it's rarely mentioned. Colby went in with a good amount of muscle and came out looking emaciated. Once the producers figured out the audience was more interested in the strategy and social aspect keeping them deprived seemed unnecessary.
I just realized something. This season was filmed over Thanksgiving, so offering the plate of turkey, potatoes, even a bit of cranberry sauce made so much sense

The peanut butter is actually a very high IQ play. Full of protein. I'd never go in on something like chips or pop. Go for something that will give you energy.

That's because it wasn't really the second season. There was a season filmed before it that never aired.

They are actually using Australian currency. Now that this is one of their early ones, I want to point out that amber Mariano is one of the most deadly players in survivor. In season 8 rob and amber went all the way to the end, and, they also got married of any of you saw survivor all stars. Ambers old name is Amber Brkich

Colby ended up hosting a tv show, it was on history channel. It was like a sharpshooting contest show.
