The lite to me was the way to go. Everything you carry gets heavier as the day goes ! If it gets damaged then you can use white roof matting with any acrylic paint and patch over, and its good to go again.
The Safari Light chiller is truely what everybody has been waiting for. I read somewhere that they do not last. Let me just say that for the last two years ive used mine to sit on for hours waiting for the fish to bite, fished on the rocks, and walked miles to get to angling spots. I gave mine a coat of Fibre Seal acrylic pva paint the day i bought the chiller and my chiller is still as good as new. Keeps my baits frozen as good and even better than any other heavy and double the price chiller. The Safari Light is and will remain a winner. Excellent Product.
To add to my previous comment. I can justify my positive comments of the Safari Lught chiller with the backing of over 50 years rock and surf fishing experience. Cardinal to rock and surf fishing is fresh bait, walking long distances on soft sand and rock climbing. That means carrying as light as possible. And for that purpose alone the Safari Light is the way to go. Do not abuse your chiller. Take good care of it, just like you do with your rods and reels and it will last and serve you well. I agree Charl. It is a fantastic cooler box. Incredibly light! My only concern with it is that it doesn't have a notch at the top to open it like the standard chillers. I have sliced my finger trying to open it with wet hands. The top corners are also starting to lift, but super glue will fix that.
I do not make a habit of knocking a product, but I have tried to reach Safari on the web page and it says " access denied". I bought the 6 litre and maybe got the runt of the litter. The top seam has come apart, the foam under the lid has just given way and the handle just dislodges. I have used this product on 6 beach trips and it basically has come apart at the seams. It is practically brand spanking new, so please do your homework and inspect your purchase. Not sure if I got a dud, but the workmanship is extremely poor. I purchased it from a decent outlet , but will not name them as I would hate to have them associated with such poor quality.
