      Definitely & asking them the right ?'s like:
       What’s the status?
       Is there anything you need advice on?
       Do you have any questions?
       How are you feeling about this project so far?
       Try to determine their moral & help em out however you can.

    Relevant skills!! Love your tip on who you should be delegating too. It is true that you can't just delegate to the person who has the lightest schedule because they might not have the right skill set to handle the task (and you may end up just handling the task yourself at a later date if it doesn't turn out well). Also loved the tip about showing appreciation for a job well done. A little appreciation goes a long way.

      Delegation is truly such an important skill! It's so great that you have weekly "checkups" with your team members to ensure all is well. The post-it note is a simple but sure way to encourage someone. Do you often delegate tasks when preparing your vacation rental for new visitors?

    Delgeating is often so hard when you start but such a great way to move forward. Love the topics you cover ... They give such a real and doable, tangable way for people to move forward and grow and keep clear! I have to say.. I find it hard because EVEN when I communicate things, people still sometimes do something I ask them not to do because they are smart. !! LOL I tell people... hey.. please, we already have tried everything, please if you have an idea, ask first. We may have already tried it! I always do what i call the 'grunt work' myself first and then pass it along! LOL ... great video Adriana!

      Delegating can be hard but you're right, it is a great way to move forward. I'm so glad you find my tips practical and helpful! I know it can be difficult when people don't listen even after you've communicated but this is why I often say to OVER communicate. It can get frustrating but in business, you've just got to stick to it! Glad you've learned how to delegate and have been doing so, even when it's difficult. So, im in my mid 30s.. growing up as an only child, home schooled for a significant part of my life, i had a hard time believing people my age or older would either respect me enough or just appreciate me trying to take the lead on things.. oh, i forgot to mention, my parents are 1st generation immigrants from Eastern europe also 😅 im sure being hard on myself, overly critical and self doubt is probably genetic or at least, culturally ingrained to me.
    Anyway, in my 20s i kept telling myself that ill get better and have it easier in my 30s because I'll be older... I always gave those older than me that social role and the respect that goes with it...earned or not. Kinda ridiculously when i think about it today.
    Anyway, to my point: i finally become confident and comfortable in delegating tasks to help my team help me reach my end goal for the night.... im mostly confortable doing this with the guy's. I have no problem cracking the proverbial whip if i need ask more than 4 or 5 times ... but whereni can't seem to feel natural or confortable, is with my female co workers who are older than me....especially knowing they have more experience than i do. What makes it even more daunting is they speak almost exclusively Spanish. I am able to communicate just enough back and forth to get thru our basics duties. I use Google translate for more in depth communication.
    But i just think since they're my elders, they can work at their own pace, andni dont wanna ask too much of them out-of fearnof being too demanding or them thinking im just handing out duties I don't like...which isn't true. I never ask anyone to anything that they havnt seen me work hard and devoted to.
    Do i need to approach womenn (40sto 50s) the same as the younger fellas? Differently? How? Or do i just let them do their thing as long as it's work related?

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  4 года назад +1

      Hi, Andrew. A great question. I really feel that it’s the way we delegate, for example tone of voice used, body language. Some people aren’t necessarily happy to be part of a project, so letting them know how much their work is appreciated sets a really positive tone moving forward and will make things go a lot smoother.
      Hope this helps! Cheers!

      I am a film and TV actor, a writer and a Bioenergy Therapy practitioner. I work mostly alone but I am also currently undergoing renovations in my house and I loved delegating it to the experts, stepping in just to do check-ups and communicate my wishes clearly. Past renos were way more hands on, so I’m glad I’m better at letting go now.

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  5 лет назад +1

      Wow, that's AMAZING! It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate so it's good that you made the decision to delegate to some experts with your house renovations. This way you can focus on your career; however I'm glad to hear that you're checking in with them enough and communicating your wishes clearly. You definitely wouldn't want a house renovation gone bad, lol! Cheers!

    •  5 лет назад

      Lol that is true! But my sister is also an interior designer so I am truly in the hands of experts! It’s fun checking in with myself too to make sure I love all the decisions. If something didn’t feel exactly like something that was me, I was able to speak up in a kind way and say it. It could’ve been delicate with a sister but it is AMAZING actually.@@AdrianaGirdler

    • @iloveshinyobjects
      @iloveshinyobjects 5 лет назад

      If this is the case don’t delegate.
       The tasks that have to be very precisely done or are too difficult that no one can get them done exactly right except you obviously shouldn’t be delegated.
       But if you think with your wise counsel, advice, & step by step materials it would be possible for someone else to do as good a job as you.
       Take a little time (when you can) to start working on the process/documents/step by step procedures & overall wise counsel they would need to be able to do it.
       The best time would be as you are working on that thing, perhaps have a word document open, or a piece of paper & write in the helpful advice/wise counsel as you think about it & of course as you have the time to do so.
       And as a backup you can do it yourself; as they are doing it.
       In case they don’t do a good enough job, you will still have your own version done.
       At this moment you can do 1 of 3 things:
      1. Continue to train them up to do it as good as you.
      2. Consider someone else who could do it better.
      3. Or hire someone new that compliments where your current team is weak & should be able to do as good of a job as you.
      o And just because you’re the best at it doesn’t always mean you should be doing it; again it comes down to priorities.
       You might need a wise mentor or coach to help you figure this out.
