  • We've seen our fair share of ugly walls to know there are a multitude of interiors that could use a little DIY faux brick finish.
    Exposed brick walls can completely transform your space. Depending on how you paint the brick, you can create a modern, industrial look or evoke the warmth of a historic, old brownstone. Beyond custom walls, you can use the IOD Brick Texture Roller to transform a soulless fireplace into a cozy hearth or DIY faux brick backsplash.
    In this edited Facebook Live, the IOD Sisters show you how to DIY a faux brick wall with joint compound.
    IOD moulds, IOD stamps and IOD transfers are sold exclusively through approved stockists.

    Love the combo of the plastic frottage and roller! When you added the distress stamp and it hit the edges it looked just like where brick really would wear. Good job as always ladies!! ❤️❤️👏👏

    WHAT PERFECT TIMING LADIES !!! I wanted to order this “ Roller” today when I placed my order with Jami Ray Vintage, but didn’t because I only have seen a 1 minute video on it! I was echoing Sally’s “ oh my goodness I LOVE it ! “ ..... 👍👍
    I am bouncing between putting up faux brick panels...then painting it..But I saw your 1 minutes demo and I’m really wanting this look more! Looks so real and old !! Especially with the plastic making impressions....I AM IN LOVE! Now I need to tell myself I can do a whole room like this! 😬😬
    How wonderful to click on You Tube and see this video come up ! Can’t wait to see more of this roller used !
    LOVE IT...LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing ❤️

    I got mine yesterday! It's amazingggggg. I've been making faux fireplaces & had been using the faux brick wall panels to get my brick look but they never managed the look I really wanted. After a little experimenting that's no longer the case. This brick roller is the bomb! I added red brick concrete tint powder to my plaster to get the brick color I wanted and went to town. After that was done & my faux brick surface had dried I went back with some slightly tinted grey plaster with a little sand tossed in and added it in splotches to imitate used brick. For the mortar between the brick I just added some sand to my DB paint & painted the mortar lines. It looks so realistic! Best investment ever!

    Going through this process now and a couple questions: 1) did you sand down the rough edges after the joint compound dried? And 2) you said to use a sealer over the dried wall but then mentioned primer. Does this work the same? Is the distressed stamp retired? I’m so excites working on this. It really is fairly easy!! You gals are genius’ ❤️

    • @lollylolly8186
      @lollylolly8186 3 года назад +3

      Sure it could. If it has lines you’d have to fill those in with the drywall mud. But the mud should adhere. I’d probably put a small bit of mud on a practice area to make sure and if it flakes off then you may need to either sand or prime first.

      We don't specific specific paint colors and brands because most IOD retailers curate high quality lines of decor paint. If you decide to go for it with the Brick Roller, ask you IOD stockist at the same time to recommend specific paint colors to achieve this look. They will surely be happy to help!

      That is true...

    • @vickims682
      @vickims682 Год назад

      But, to make it renter friendly, you could get yourself a piece of paneling, and cut it to the height of your wall, then do the technique on that, and affix it to your wall with Velcro strips, or command strips, or whatever you are allowed to use. Then you could remove it when you vacate, and you could use it at your next place too. 😊

    With much respect, I feel that the many tools et al plus all the wall prep could have been presented to us beforehand. Words on the screen would have been helpful too.
    The camera angle while you were on the ladder wasn’t helpful. Why not put on a go pro type or camera instead? Or hire someone? We couldn’t really see what you were doing till @3:37 and @8:00 . There’s also A Lot of blurriness. The plastic method made no sense to me. We don’t have a clue what the “brick” colours are that you used, how long we should wait for anything to dry, whether anything else could be done afterwards, et cetera, et cetera.
    I mean, clearly you’re having fun and have a good product, but, perhaps, write out the entire video before attempting to present it all to us. Again, JMHO. I actually like the end result🙂.
    Thanks.
