    Really helpful video, Joe. I am struggling mightily with my putting on Gspro and my Eye Mini. I’m trying to make the physical connection to the in-game reaction and it just seems like there isn’t a connection. Yesterday I hit a putt that didn’t reach my net which is about 8 feet in front of me and according to the game it went 60 feet. I will try some of your methodology and see if I can make more sense of it.

      Thanks mate! Ok that's really odd... That doesn't seem right to me. Is your Eye Mini in putting mode? Does it have the P that comes up next to where the RH or LH symbol is on the unit (top left)?

    Thanks for the tips. Do you happen to know what the putting assist check box option does? Thanks

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад +2

      Hey mate the putting assist slightly massages the putting HLA data within 20ft of the hole. This is because there are some launch monitors that aren't great at HLA (horizontal launch angle) on slower speed shots... So I'm not all over the algorithm they use but if your LM reports say 3 degrees right it will be massaged down to say 1 degree right. The larger the HLA number within 20ft will have a bigger assist.. this is to try keep it fair with putting for all launch monitors and not have the more expensive LMs have an advantage. It's really well done 👍
      Cheers

      They are still tweaking things with software updates which is a good thing I guess .Numbers seem good and like the slow motion video of club impact .
      Hoping they wont impose a fee for use with 3rd party software (Gspro) which works great !!

    I have been doing a yardstick drill for a year now, off and on... Can't go to bed until I roll 20 in a row off the end. The greens I play locally are typically a lot slower than the ones on GSPro so I usually knock the stimp down a couple notches to try and make the practice more relative. The real challenge for me is seeing the put in my brain and translating it into action when playing GSPro golf in my bay. Actually seeing a putt travel 6' and watching it roll out for 20' on screen requires some mental gymnastics and I am worried about how all that will translate to the course. I am also myopic, making lining up is a challenge, so being able to choose a target and putt straight feels a almost like cheating. I get over it quickly as I watch it roll by LOL. Do you ever use the UEM with the XPUTT when you are practicing?

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад

      Hahaha I'd be there all night trying to get 20 in a row!! Yeah I know what you mean with the feels vs what's happening in game. I'm lucky because I have my impact strip which is putting turf it's very close to stim 11 or 12 I'd say. Another thing is I have just done it so much I'm used to the feel of a 10 footer vs 20 just from the sheer volume of practice I've done. You can turn off putting assist and then just aim in your Sim room.. it would take a bit of practice to get used to I might try play a round with that on GS Pro and see how it goes.

      @@baysidegolfI'm very much a one wedge kind of guy from inside 60yards (LW) unless I have a shot that really calls for something different like a flag stick tucked on the back of a green where I'd rather roll the ball up to the hole.

      No I don't have the dot on my putter face. I don't believe you get any metrics in the putting mode. You might be able to do this when not in putting mode. It would be good to see if Uneekor could get some type of putting data VLA and spin would be awesome

    Great stuff, as usual, Joe! Do you think the 1 in elevation = 1 foot distance works outside, too? I have always kind on instinctively understood how to change distance based on slope when playing in real life but I have never been able to explain it to my buddies. I'll have to test this out. Thanks for all the great content!

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад

      Thanks mate! Outside it's a little different as you get more of a feel for things walking on the slopes and feeling the undulation and changes. But honestly I don't think you would be very far off if you did want to calculate this in the real world. The hardest thing would be how to figure out exactly how far up and down hill the actual putt is.

    @joe love your videos. Been a regular for few months now and you helped me made some informed decisions. I am looking to upgrade my MLM2PRO and I am getting a great deal on a used BLP unlocked and its coming roughly around the same price as eye mini but no additional yearly subscription. I know both are great but what would you suggest is better buy . considering both support GSPRO now.

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад

      Hey mate if you can get the BLP unlocked with no subscription for a good deal and there's nothing wrong with it then jump on it! The foresight products are great.
      The Eye Mini will be a fantastic device but at this point in time I'm still getting really odd misreads every now and then and I just still feel like the club and ball speeds are off as well only slightly but I never had this feeling when using my mates GC3 or Quad. I think with the impact camera and the additional accessories (ecosystem) Uneekor is building with the performance optix will eventually see the eye mini be the more complete unit however they need to sort out a few things with updates for me.

    Great video as always, and very informative.
    I've been thinking a lot about putting distance vs speed lately, geeking out pretty hard in Excel. But I can summarize my confusion very simply: For an object which has an initial speed and constant deceleration (due to rolling friction force), why doesn't the distance quadruple when the initial speed is doubled? The distance should be proportional to the square of the initial speed. The GSPRO tables follow this for shortish puts, but by the time you get to about 30 feet, the difference is 10 feet. I think we can agree air resistance is negligible for putts.

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад +1

      That certainly is geeking out!! 🤣 I love it though. And I don't have an answer for you. I have never thought about that far in depth. The guy that made the charts actually contacted me and he said he based them on a 4.1mph ball speed putt reaching a certain distance. Quite interesting though and might be worth some testing.

  • @jeffbankert9024

    Focusing on HLA and speed makes a lot of sense….do you need a sticker dot on the putter for HLA to read properly? Really insightful video

    • @hjlamb
      @hjlamb Год назад +1

      You shouldn't need the dot. The HLA is the measured ball path.

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  Год назад

      No dot on the putter you are just getting ball data in putting mode unfortunately… I’d love Club data with putting mode! I might request that in the app actually see what they come back with.

    • @TeeToGreenGolf24
      @TeeToGreenGolf24 Год назад

      You don't need it but it is helpful if you have a GC3 or BLP since they will give you your putter path numbers. This will help you understand a little as to why you pulled or pushed a putt.

      No if you're only using it in your Sim. I love my ExPutt as I take it away with me for work and also use it in the house at night sometimes. It's a fantastic device but the GC3 is incredibly accurate with putting. You do get a bit more data with the ExPutt but realistically it's not needed if you have a GC3 and GS Pro

    I didn’t know the GS Pro software let you cheat on horizontal launching within 20 feet why would they do that?

    • @JLagGOLF
      @JLagGOLF  10 месяцев назад

      So it's definitely not cheating 😂. It's a way GS Pro can level the playing field across different launch monitors. Every launch monitor except the really expensive top end ones (GS quad, Uneekor Eye XO) struggle with HLA (horizontal launch angle) on slower ball speeds. So they came up with this algorithm that lets the cheaper launch monitors (GC2) have a level playing field with the more expensive ones. That's why they use 5ft as a gimmie circle as well.
