    Hey bud great information in the video. I have a fully esc 24v with Traxxas 775, also through Eastcoast customs works greatly but my son keeps binding the last gear, in the #7 gear box in other words “the drive gear” , only the drivers side. passenger side is fine. Also I have 2 other p/w’s 1 porsh and a wrangler rubicon I installed a turbo toggle switch, on stock vehicle no esc so they can go from 12-18 or 12-24v either way, and they have the same gear boxes, but no problems so would you suggest anything? my next trick I’m going to try is adding a potentiometer to the variable speed throttle in series,and see if that will ease the pain on the drive gear. So that take off won’t be ass hard. let me know what you think?

    • @dthrash86
      @dthrash86 5 лет назад

      The wire should be fine, but sometimes the gearboxes melt from the SPEED, also sometimes the pinion on the motor is too thick to fit the proper gear to line up with the gears in the gearbox. I would swap motors for now and then see if you need to upgrade the box.

    What type of grease is best for the gearbox?

  • @controlyourfuture5477
    @controlyourfuture5477 5 лет назад +2

    Any Old School power wheel can take the 18 volts with stock motors. Switches and petals I find go out first , however the time they do you'll need new plastic tires lol. Dirt and traction bands is what kills gearboxes also! 24 volts is easy to find chargers but it's too much for the system. Anyone that grabs a 6 volt battery and charger and add that to the system would get 8ish mph and it will last longer. Off road @ 24 volts , everything starts to cook.

      I'm using the DeWalt 20v adapter with 20/60 flexvolt but the Chinese version $70. We used my DeWalt battery but she fried one. They will destroy your $120 batterys. Motor upgrade is next on the list. She's doing a lemonade stand this weekend to pay for parts. If you want 18 volts do parallel. You'd need in series to get to 36 and use a resistor or potentiometer to adjust voltage to 24v or higher
      I would do series 20v with a potentiometer to dial the speed back a bit. You'd be at 40v

    I'm planning to create a multi (2 or 3) Dewalt 20v battery system for my son's dune racer. I will keep the voltage at 20v but connect the batteries in parallel to increase capacity. I already 3d printed the battery mounts and planning to install them in the front so that he could use the back for toy storage. Its a lot easier than having to charge those big o bulky 12v batteries they come with. I'm hoping the stock motors hold fine at 20v under mostly concrete driveway conditions.
    I've also though about adding some 775 brushless titans, but then i would need to use two speed controllers and the gas pedal is a switch, so he would go full throttle and that's no bueno.
    Maybe I decide to go brushless when I find a variable gas pedal to install.

      @@halliefab7929 variable pedal... They exist but too expensive. However the conversion to brushless seems not worthy because at the end it's my 3 year old the one riding it. I don't want it to be too fast or powerful. I think I'll just upgrade the stock motors to some DC brushed 775 and I'll do the battery system swap.

    • @P_double_H
      @P_double_H 4 года назад +1

      @@halliefab7929 I forgot to post an update on this. I ended up creating the DeWalt system I mentioned above. It runs very good. At 20v there is plenty of power and with two 6amp batteries the car will run for hours. The Dune Racer has a 2 speed gear selector so in 1sr gear it runs slower consuming less power. 2nd gear is at full 20v which is really fast and won't burn the stock motors. I am very happy with the conversion.
      If anyone else is interested in creating this system for your kids Power Wheels. I am selling the adapter for your DeWalt batteries. 1 for $20, or to for $35 shipped.
