Been doing this since 2017, but always used an aluminum plate to hold two 775 motors on the back; the plate solidly locates the motors and stiffens up the gearbox case. I have several vehicles that are still running the original motors several years later but have also broken gearboxes in half with the resulting torque... I would be worried about your setup's durability under hard use-- you've blocked the motor's cooling intake holes and the thin plastic you're mounting to is not very strong (the normal mounting point is pretty sturdy). Has it held up fairly well?
I have 1/8 aluminum plate on the backs of the gear boxes, before like the video it was just plastic , but believe it or not we never had an issue that way! But I knew I needed to stiffen it up once we did a dual motor setup , it’s nice and solid now with the 1/8” plate, no gears breaking, and faster than he’s ever gone!!
Correct! But you will need to do some testing to confirm the best pinion size for your setup , it depends what you want , a lot of top end or a lot of torque , more torque smaller pinion, more top end, bigger pinion
Im considering doing this for my daughters 20v dale car with c7 power wheels wiring that ill be building for drag racing it has 550motors on will it be good or should i put 775 motors and also her 20v "drift" corvette do you think it will kill the low end torque and prevent her from spinning by doing this mod or will it be better?
Make sure you redo all the wiring with 10 guage and use a 100amp or more breaker, it’s to much of a load on a stock shifter switch and wiring It’ll be fine for drifting still it’ll give it a lot more mph 550s or 775s will work
Awesome thanks! Love watching your content🤟 i also messaged you on fb for details on the power wheels drag racing rules and different classes ..do you have a sheet of the rules, restrictions ect somewhere just so i have ideas where to start and how to split classes i think about doing like stock 12v, modified 12v 18v 24v..i would love to organize something like this for the kids and parents near me (ontario canada) at carshows, local events... i dont plan to go as big as you guys for now but love the way your all organized thanks in advance
Any suggestions on where to start as far as pinion size for 50 lb kids in 2 seater mustangs? Stang wheels with harbor freight mat rears like your video, 20v tool batteries, adjustable motor control and 775s. Only asking bc my motors didn’t come with pinions and idk what to buy 😂😂 thanks for the vids
I would do 13 or 14T start there, with the ESC it detects load on the launch so you don’t want to have to tell of a pinion or it’ll bog really hard , we ran 12s on my sons lambo and it did 2.80s in the 60 foot It will be a little trial and error with pinion sizes , order a few different ones and just play with it
Your killing me smalls. Jk. If i get all this done and figured out and we go down there in the south side, indiana and my son straight gaps everyone. im just going to say you did it. You caused me to just go all out! Lol😂😂😂 i have everything, but pinion gears and a connector for the controller for the computer. If you do a first gear delete, does that mean the pinion gear changes? Also, I just ordered a dc power supply to break in the redlines. Could have had rear disk brakes for the rwd cavalier im building with the funds im putting in my sons porsche. All fun! i love it! For the kiddos!
😂😂😂 doing the first gear delete, you will have to figure out the right pinion size for your setup depending what you want! Smaller size more torque , bigger pinion , more top end. A little bit of trial and error will give you the best setup! Break in the motors on 6v then 12v and they should be good for awhile! That’s what we do
What would be faster, 27T 550's on 20v tool batteries with a first gear delete or the ML Toys 775s and 4R gear boxes with 40v? My son has a Dune Racer with some 27T 550's and our neighbor just put the 775/40v setup on his Dune Racer. We gotta be faster lol. I ordered a 32p pinion kit for the 550's that has 12T -16T pinions.
Sounds like something is shorting out , Make sure you are running 10 guage wiring and get away from the stock shifter switch , only made to handle 30amps
I am so grateful to stumble upon this- you will save me so many headaches!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
there is little info on top speed mods
my gearbox design cant be deleted which makes me just design a custom box or go chain drive
@@dancearoundtheworld5360 it’s a game of trial and error, you have to try it and figure out what works best for you

What gear boxes do you recommend?
@@jonesing4life126 power wheel 7r gear boxes are the best!
I feel so many things can go wrong attempting this mod, make sure you have a spare gearbox housing.
You have to take your time with it, do a little measuring so you get it right the first time!
Good video !
Are you familiar with dual motor gearbox setup?
😉😉😉😉
So you can run any tooth pinion gear as long as the mesh is correct?
