    Fun story:
When I was 16, I worked at an indoor amusement park at a mall on Alberta.
My friend, a HUGE fan of Cooper's did as well. Day of this concert, was quiet shift, when Alice walked up to the ride my friend worked, and just stood there by himself watching the ride. My friend looks over, and yells "you're Alice Cooper!". He replied, "yeah, I know!"
Signed my buddy's LP top to bottom!

Alice Cooper is a really smart dude in general , but his real stroke of genius was pairing music with all that is frightening. His performances , especially early in his career , were like going to a good scary movie. He paved the way for artists like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. Some people take this type of performance art too serious , and think these type of artists are “evil” , when they’re simply tapping into the darker side , the way some Hollywood movies do.

@robert dawson ... actually , Black Sabbath were regarded as the pioneers of heavy metal. Alice Cooper was the pioneer of shock rock ... essentially combining a scary stage show with hard rock. Most people would agree , there’s no genre referred to as “dark music”. There’s only two incidents that Ozzy was involved in ... biting the head off a dove in a record label’s office (as told by Sharon Osborne) , and doing the same thing to a bat once during a concert once the story grew legs. Alice regularly did frightening things during his concerts. Most were staged , and didn’t involve intentionally harming animals.

I saw Alice Cooper live in Raleigh North Carolina with this album. Bed Of Nails is a good song also. This concert had Judas Priest too. Judas was the headliner but Alice's stage performance was the best I have ever seen!!! He was running in and out of a movie screen and the timing was mindblowing! He would be on stage and run toward the movie screen and it looked just like he was continuing into a large room because he was in the prerecorded movie!!! Wild AF!!!!! Then he had these enormous balls filled with confetti and hit them out into the crowd so the concert goers could hit them back and forth. 6 to 8 togrown men could fit inside these balls easily, they were really big! The stage looked like a huge skeleton was hugging it with the grinning head behind the drummer. It was bad a$$!!

Alice Cooper is the greatest showman on earth, even at age 72. I’ve seen him live multiple times recently and even most young bands don’t bring the energy he and his band do. Find a live performance of Ballad of Dwight Fry from recent years. The song is usually paired with Killer and I Love the Dead. It’s theatrical and they cut his head off onstage in a guillotine. Also a live performance of Feed My Frankenstein from the last few years is awesome too. Alice never disappoints!

Fun Fact: Alice Cooper is a devout Christian despite making music like this. His dad was a pastor and he used to go with him to do missionary work with Apache in Arizona. Alice Cooper is classic!
Saw him live in 2010, and he put on a crazy energy filled show. By the end of the show people had their faces rocked off! I have sen a dozen rock bands since but the Alice Cooper show is #1. You cant beat his rock talent!

Alice Cooper goes way back and Poison was kind of his comeback in the 90s. He's unbelievable in concert. It's like a haunted house on stage.
Here's the songs you must listen to, School's Out, Welcome To My Nightmare, Feed My Frankenstein, Bed of Nails, House of Fire, I'm Eighteen, Cold Ethyl, Billion Dollar Babies and there is at least 20 others. Videos might be hard for some of these, but I think you can find them.

Alice Cooper's albums are unique because he used an entire album had a theme, using every song to tell a different aspect of a single story. While a few other rock bands tried to follow suit--the most notable being the legendary band Pink Floyd and their infamous album 'The Wall'--Alice Cooper was the only one that did so repeatedly.

You really need to go down the rabbit hole with the Coop! From the classic(k)s "School's Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Elected", "Billion Dollar Babies" and "Only Women Bleed" (a song even rock godesses like Tina Turner or Lita Ford got covered!!!) to the real hard rockers "Hey Stoopid", "Feed My Frankenstein", "Freedom" & "House Of Fire" (co-written with Joan Jett) ...and, of course, if you get to watch the video for "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)", you might be surprised ;)

Forgot to mention I saw Alice live in England at Wembley for the Hey Stoopid tour. What a great concert that was. I went with a friend who was from California and a huge Alice Cooper fan. He stood still with his arms folded across his chest the whole concert. I was thirty one at the time and jumping around like a teenager. After the concert I asked him if he had a good time and he said that was the best concert he'd ever been to.

I think it’s interesting that Alice Cooper grew up with a preacher for a father. It’s probably why he turned out like he did. Also he is very smart and articulate when he speaks. Such a contrast between his religious roots to being a make up wearing rocker.

Exactly right on the commentary. We know what the 60's and 70's were about, this is the shift. The face paint, leather, snakes. It's rumored much of Alice Coopers songs were recorded on home studio over partying long weekends. You can feel this in his tracks.

He was the marilyn manson of the 70's.. he has such an amazing history. When I brought home his album my father made me go take it back to the store. He told me he was sick LOL They came out in 71. "Alice" is his alter ego.., his dad was a minister. He had a horrible situation with alcohol and ended up in rehab in a mental institution, , and his music is a journey through Madness. I have every single album he ever made. There's probably about 13 of them. And it's such an amazing progression. One of my favorites is only women bleed. His concerts were such a theatrical presentation this could take you down a rabbit hole for a very long time. Welcome To My Nightmare is another one of my favorite songs and a great album
