I've never liked the bleached look either. This Summer, my Tease will either be moved along or the back of its neck will go dark, too. Nice job, Ted! Looking good!

Check out the vintage reissue Mary Kaye Strat. Translucent white over ash body, vintage tint maple neck, gold hardware. So sweet!

I'd do the fretboard the same as the back of the neck.

I've been unclear about the darker color on necks that you have been describing. What you have been saying finally clicked for me.
I've never noticed stain used on a maple neck, usually only on mahogany etc. So I haven't really understood the look you have been trying to achieve.
The colored necks that you like the look of is a vintage-look, tinted nitrocellulose lacquer on a (usually) one-piece maple neck, frequently seen on Fender USA 50s reissue Teles.
Try a heavy coat of tinted lacquer instead of staining the wood.

Totally agree…bleached white starkness takes away any other cool cosmetic feature a guitar has..unless the rest of the guitar is completely natural. Ibanez makes cool guitars but makes a mistake by having maple necks without color. Also, I heard someone talking to you at the end and sometimes during the video…what’s his name?
