    My son passed in December, while cleaning out his shed I found a skateboard he had drawn and planned on painting for his daughter. After watching your videos I'm planning on using the pencils and pastels so his drawing can also shine through. Thank you!

I would love it if you would put links in your video notes to the products you use…just like the makeup you tubers do! They also get compensated every time someone orders the products through the links that they list in their notes! Again,thank you so much!

      Flávia Leal Not really replaceable,for quality and what it does.so order from over sea cos trust me it’s worth it,you’re work at the end will look much better,and pastels,pencils,slide and attach grate to it.With other materials you just gonna torture you’re self,finish with dirty looking doll and think all this is not for you..Trust me.Mr.Superclear is used by doll makers for a reason 😉 They would use other things if that wouldn’t be the best for it 😉

I bought something that I hoped was similar to Testor's Dullcote at the hardware store (I live in the US) and since I have never painted dolls I can't tell if it's what it should be. Gotta say, Mr Super Clear is not in any way easy to find locally. I live in Houston, Texas, USA; which is a big city. Tried hobby stores, hardware stores, art supply stores, and all the local big box stores with no luck. Happily, there's Amazon. It's just that the waiting is hard.
    I have some old Prismacolor water color pencils in nearly pristine condition and the old pastels will do till I know if this hobby is for me.
    But gosh darn by golly, I wish I didn't have to wait for the Mr Super Clear so I could get started.

    Interesting to note, that it says : 'Mr. SUPER CLEAR UV CUT series is special clear coating that reduces the effects of ultraviolet light. Use this coating to preserve your long hours of painting. (This product is made especially for the Mr. Color series and cannot be used over water-based paints and decals.)' Watercolor pencils are water based pigments, although i doubt there is water in them, just water soluble. I have never used anything except acrylics to paint my OOAK dolls. I thinks this would be more fun, except the spaying outside. I would think you could use the clear uv cut as the final top coats, and use the other as the base coats?

    It will affect in something if I use the Mr. Super Clear semi-gloss?

    • @lucyr8370
      @lucyr8370 4 года назад +1

      it should just make it semi glossy, which usually isn't a good look on face ups, if you want shines on specific parts then liquitex gloss varnish or mr super gloss clear would be good!

      Rj I have the same set. It costs Php 5500 (about $110). If you are in the US, look out for Amazon deals. They went on sale last Nov 2017 (after Thanksgiving).

    Mr super clear is amazing. I tried using regular sealant on my first doll repaint and it was shiny she got sticky and her hair kept sticking to the sealant. Very gross.
    But! I redid her with Mr Super clear and she looks Much Better now!
    (But getting it in the mail does count as a hazardous material... So the post office will look at you all suspicious lol)

    Hello just subscribe I love your informative video I was wondering if you know of a tutorial on showing how to make a doll into an older lady?

    • @PoppenAtelier
      @PoppenAtelier  7 лет назад

      thank you! no, I haven't seen such a tutorial on dolls but you can check usual drawing/paiting tutorials on youtube, real professional artists will give you more theory information than adaptation for dolls

      Roarling1 there is a RUclips channel called making kids toys that has a great tutorial. So just search the name and then look through her videos.

    • @verybarebones
      @verybarebones 6 лет назад +3

      Dude soft pastels are just the same as chalk, where do you live that you don't have chalk? And if you can't even get acrylic paint I don't believe you can get any materials at all.
