Wow, those are freaking awesome looking! I am a true believer now. The sculpting is much better & has evolved to be more sophisticated & closer to a Kenner atheistic… Also, just subbed ur channel.
I kinda lost my taste for these custom Kenner figures when all that crap happened with “Fans Strike Back” and them not filling orders.I Lost a little faith..But these are amazing!.Worth the wait!.I’ll have to check them out!
Yeah, I understand that. I fortunately did not buy into TFSB. These figures were definitely worth the wait and cost for me. But yes, there is always some risk with these types of custom endeavors.
Great review. Figures look nice. I passed just for the fact that all 6 have the same torso and legs. Steel molds are expensive and to keep the price point down, I understand why this was done, just not for me. Wouldn't mind grabbing one, but not all 6. Keep up the great reviews.
Thanks for the comment Todd. Fair point about the mold reuse. Still, for an independent production like this, I think that's ok, and they came out stellar. With the colors, soft goods, and accessories, they go really well together and mix in well with Kenner figs.
Even though I understand it's a costly undertaking... I'm not too stoked about paying 46 euros atm for basically the same figure with a different head and paint job.
Unless they are cheaper than the Hasbro ones I will always choose Hasbro. Vintage Collection Figures look great next to the Kenner Ones. Especially Aliens, you can't make better figures than Hasbro. It's just amazing how many figures you can choose from Hasbro. To me Custom Figures just don't make sense if I have to pay 3 times more the price for a figure that's probably pretty mediocre. Stan Solo has nice figures, but still the price difference makes me consider to just pick up a Hasbro Version. And even if you buy Custom Figures, there is always a chance Hasbro will release their own Retro Version. With Hasbro figures even from the past you will be able to sell em. Custom figures not so much. If the Custom Figures are even worse in quality ,I don't see how somebody would still want them or pay money for them. Therefore I always have this scenario in front of my eyes, with some peoples collection turning to an ocean polluted by plastic (In their case with figures that nobody wants to pay for anymore).😅
Hey, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. You bring up several interesting points, mainly about cost. For me, I'm ok paying $40-$50 for a custom figure if its something I really want, and that I don't see Hasbro getting to anytime soon. The main difference for me is that I'm not buying these for value or to re-sell one day. I just want to add figures to my collection. Same goes for Black Series - I bought a custom 3d printed Super Battle Droid figure for $70 about 4 years ago because I wanted one on my shelf. Now Hasbro finally got around to their SBD this year, so that custom probably won't resell for much. But that's ok, I got the enjoyment of having it in my collection for those 4 years. I seriously doubt that Hasbro will ever start making obscure aliens and background characters like TheNext17 is doing though. For me, the high per-figure cost makes sense due to the small production runs, and it is worth it for the enjoyment I get in adding them to my collection.
@@RedWagonDioramas I just bought a lot of old Cantina Figures and to me they look great next to my Kenners. Both quality and price wise I think this is the best I can get. To me Kenner figures are not just simplified figures, but more like Classical figures. It's not hard to make simplified figures. But to make them classical needs some dedication and eye. And this I don't see with most custom figures. I recently got figures like Power of the Jedi Ketwol, Cantina Bar Section Wuher Ponda Baba Kitik, TVC Evazan Zutton. They reallly look nice and cost me 10-15bucks each. For Aliens and Robots Hasbro ones display perfectly with Kenner. Astromech droids obviously not, since they do not have a sticker (But you go completely Hasbro if you want). Even sometimes the figures being able to articulate in multiple ways just brings out new dimensions to display. To me a fully articulated Oola is just way more exciting than one that just stands. Or having a Darth Vader that is being able to kneel is so reviving. The only "species" where I avoid Hasbro figures are humans, since the eyes are different. But they are passable for display. As for Retro Collection. I really don't care what they are going to produce. In most cases I won't even open them
Cool figures. They look awesome! Thanks for reviewing these hidden gems!
Thank you Laser :) Hopefully more people find out about these and he can keep making more.
Every time I see the one with the Gold eyes it always reminds of Lou Diamond Phillips
Haha I had to google that. I assume you’re referring to the masked singer Mantis costume?
Wow, indeed. The big philtrum, the shape of his face and hairline... it's uncanny.

I totally agree! Thanks for the sub :)
These are some really good quality figures. So far, I only have that Devilman guy but I'm planning on buying more of these figures.
Yes I’ve really enjoyed them too. I really like the Hem Dazon figure. Highly recommend!

Yeah, I understand that. They're not for everyone, but I'm happy with them.
The website is thenext17 not thelast17 lol
Thanks, that’s what I get for filming late at night. Fixed it. Appreciate you letting me know!
