Hey everyone!! Here is my reaction to My Cousin Vinny! I LOVED this movie so much. It was so much fun and Joe Pesci KILLED it. The courtroom scenes in particular were amazing to watch and this movie was definitely one of my favourites that I have watched this year. Side note, if you would like to see a list of every movie I have seen this year ranked you can head over to my Letterboxd account: letterboxd.com/Olllllllllllie/ Anyways, after that shamful plug, thanks for watching and have a great day!!! :)
This is one of my favorite comedies of all time. The comedic performances turned in by Pesci and Tomei are absolutely brilliant, and their chemistry is undeniable.
Very fun movie. One of my personal favorites. I like how the police officers, prosecutor, and judge are portrayed as not evil. You should look into the acting career of the guy playing the judge. Fun Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent "Vinny" Gambini and Judge Haller regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film.
Love this movie! Marisa Tomei won an oscar for her role, and well deserved too! She was brilliant and stunning in the courtroom as an expert witness! I laughed out loud at the start of the film when Stan said 'You know what the minimum age for execution is in Alabama?' and without skipping a beat you said 'SIX' dead pan expression n all! 😂 😂 😂 😂
Fred Gwynn who played the judge was the same person who played Herman Munster(Frankenstein) in the old tv show "The Munster's". Great movie. Very good reaction. Marisa Tomei was phenomenal and she won an Oscar for her role as Lisa.
The cross-examination scene of Marisa Tomei is actually shown in law schools (at least according to the channel Legal Eagle--who also does a GREAT breakdown of the whole film)
As a mechanic it always cracks me up when people misunderstand the guy talking about mud in the tire. He's talking about getting mud around the inside of the rim that throws off the balance. Her being from New York, there's not a lot of mud, but snow does the same thing so not sure why she wouldn't know that. Otherwise he knowledge is pretty spot on. Great scene writing from a technical stand point.
Actually, he was 22 during production of the karate kid. He was born in Nov 1961 and the film was released in June 1984. But yeah, he was very young looking for his age.
This is a great movie, I've watched it many times. Marisa won an Oscar for her performance in this. I'd say the humor is more of a witty nature, not so much boring slapstick which I'm very grateful for...my favorite comedies are dark humor, I'd say this was more smart humor which is also enjoyable for me. Oh, so Ralph's last name is pronounced Mach-e-o...like the word macho but without the o...as always enjoy your reaction, keep it up awesome dude
As much as you liked Pesci, the person who saved the case was Marisa Tomei's character. What was fun was how everyone looked down on her as someone who couldn't possibly have known anything about a car's mechanics, in the detail that she did. I, for one, would LOVE to have a girlfriend who was a mechanic, a pilot, a soldier, a cop, or anything along those lines. She really kicked a**, and, as you mentioned, she supported him throughout the whole movie, even while he was dissing her. I think she made the movie for me. Did you know she won an Academy Award for this performance?
Anyone else think of Jordan from Conan O'Brien being obsessed with Japan because of The Karate Kid 2? He kept pronouncing Ralph Macchio the way Rollies pronouncing it until he was crushed by Ralph when he corrected him on the pronunciation and then told him the movie was actually shot in Hawaii.
Yes, not only are allowed to see "each other's files", you are also legally obligated to provide all of your evidence to the other side. You cannot withold evidence and then use it against a side who hasn't had time to work a defense against it.
The idea each side has to disclose all their evidence was a recent change in the law at the time this movie was made. Previously there had been all sorts of games in hiding evidence and springing it on the other side. The old Perry Mason BOOKS, dozens written between 1933 and 1970 by a real lawyer, Erle Stanley Gardner, used this trickery time after time. I saw this movie when it first came out and was shocked by "discovery" and then immediately thought "well, of course!"
While there is reciprocal discovery, the list of items the defense is required to give to the prosecutor is much shorter than what the prosecutor must give to the defense. In short, the prosecution is required to hand over pretty much everything they intend to use at trial, while the defense generally (it varies by state) needs to share witness lists and statements and any items that will be submitted as evidence.
6th amendment rights ... the defendant has the right to face his/her accuser, this includes the right to see all evidence being used against him/her. Therefore he/she has the right to disclosure of evidence
Pretty much everyone fell in love with Marisa Tomei the year this movie came out. That hunting pants scene will never not be funny. And I loved how she’s wearing a completely different outfit in every scene. At the time there was talk of doing a sequel but, unfortunately, that never happened.
Another TBS or TNT late night movie discovery. I saw the last part of it and wondered how the "Yankee Yutes" were on trial for murder. I kept a watch for it and finally saw the complete movie and found it to be another "where has this movie been and why haven't I heard of it?" What makes this special is the fidelity to the legal process, especially how to treat an expert witness.
One of my favorites!! Love this movie! So many quotable lines. 😁 The two ‘yutes’ My biological clock is ticking like this! Imagine you’re a deer...... Oh yeah, you blend I shot the clerk 😆😁😎
Hey Starfighter!!! Been waiting for you to do this one. You talked over one of the funny lines. Not complaining; just wanted you to hear the line. Remember when the judge shows Vinny the thick book? Then he drops it on the table and Vinny picks it up and says, "Just this?" Hilarious! :)
Thanks, Oliver! ⚖ #RolyPolyOllie #MyCousinVinny The public attorney was portrayed by Austin Pendleton. He's also in WHAT'S UP DOC? (1972), which I think you'd love.
I'm surprised how many people didn't realize the public defender had a speech impediment [stuttering] when pronouncing certain words ; he wasn't drunk or had a hangover . In real life this actor had a stuttering problem which he learned to overcome !
I was very much entertained when during the deflategate scandal a few years back, when defending his players during a press conference New England Patriots Head Coach BIll Belichick began with the disclaimer "I'm just going to tell you what i know, but I wouldn't say that I'm the Mona Lisa Vito of footballs"
I gotta tell yu! It is real cringe the way you pronounce Ralph's last name. It is pronounced like Macho with an added I (Ma-chi-Oh), not Mock-Eee-oh!!!
I almost didn't watch because the hair scared me. You looked like one of those wild people who have their hair all over the place, eyes rolling around, and strange, evil smiles on their face, as they come closer to you, step by step!!! Auuugghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, did you ever wonder how this movie came to be? I always wondered if it were written by someone who was roped into some sort of bad situation by a bunch of idiots looking at procedural clipboards, none of whom had any real knowledge.
U seem like you're too smart of a kid to keep calling him "Ralph Makkio". Just like most reactors u try ur best to act like u dont know anything about anything, but it comes off so fake.
Lmao, in what realm? Honestly he doesn't come off too bright at all but his enjoyment of the movies is fun to watch. He's pronouncing his name like it was a coffee drink because that's the closest adaptation to that name he has ever seen or heard obviously. He's very young and you don't hear that name nowadays.
Oh for the love of god please look up name pronunciations BEFORE you film reactions! Ralph "ma-chee-oh' not makio like a coffee drink lol. (Well close to a macchiato.)

30 yrs later and Marisa Tomei looks the same. She got an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for this role.
Honestly one of my favourite comedies of the 90s. So exceptionally well written and acted
There's not a wasted scene in this movie. Every scene has a clear purpose. So good

I live in the South. Grits are real and delicious.
Just a fun movie, it's something I would always put on when I was in the mood to laugh and a feel good type of film.
Marisa Tomei would later go on to play Peter Parker's Aunt May in the MCU Spider Man movies
Love the "Two yutes scene"! Lol! "I mean, what's a yute?"
He was 32 when this movie came out and was expecting his first child.
Ralph was 31 years in this movie
There are old photos of him dated 1856!
he's a twink vampire!
Marisa Tomeii plays Aunt May in Spiderman: Homecomig and Spiderman: Far From Home.
Ralph Macchio is 32 years old in this movie. He was 24 in The Karate "Kid".
Actually, he was 22 during production of the karate kid. He was born in Nov 1961 and the film was released in June 1984.
But yeah, he was very young looking for his age.

Great comedy and one of the best legal movies. Other great legal movies are The Rainmaker , A Few Good Man, Civil Action.

I don’t think you need to point out that Marisa is the one who saved the case.
Marisa Tomei is Amazing
Marisa Tomei won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie!

It's nice seeing Joe Pesci in a movie where he doesn't shoot Spider.

Loved the scene when Vinny goes into the jail cell...hilarious.
Ralph Macchio is the original Karate Kid
Marissa Tomei ( Lisa) won the oscar for thst one too.
Fred G (the judge) was Herman Minter ib the 60-70s monster family tv show RIP
About the scary judge, terrific actor, Fred Gwynne. Did you know he was the lovable Herman Munster?
6th amendment rights ... the defendant has the right to face his/her accuser, this includes the right to see all evidence being used against him/her. Therefore he/she has the right to disclosure of evidence
One of the best movies of the 90s, rotton tomatoes more accurate in their review personally
Pretty much everyone fell in love with Marisa Tomei the year this movie came out. That hunting pants scene will never not be funny. And I loved how she’s wearing a completely different outfit in every scene. At the time there was talk of doing a sequel but, unfortunately, that never happened.
I still say the judge overuled Vinny's objection because of the "and only Mrs. Reilly" comment
Another TBS or TNT late night movie discovery. I saw the last part of it and wondered how the "Yankee Yutes" were on trial for murder. The two ‘yutes’
My biological clock is ticking like this!

Ralph Macchio did that 90s over exaggerated woah.
Joe Pesci gets things done!

Ralph MOTCHio, not Mockeyo.
The actually Italian pronunciation of Maccio sounds like Makio. So he is correct.
@@Luis2899 Nope.
@@Luis2899 no he's not. They pronounce it "Macchio". Stop being Jordan Schlansky.
@@wantutosigh1117 nope. It’s Makiiioooo
@@Luis2899 I can get to Makio.
23:11 The actor playing the public defender is a comedic actor. I know him from What’s Up, Doc?
He was also in Hello Again, which is worth a watch - it has that satisfying kind of humor like My Cousin Vinny.
Marisa Tormei won a oscar for this
30:06 I mock Trotter's "alright, alright" every time i watch this classic. Nice reaction, 'twas fun to revisit with ya!
I'm surprised how many people didn't realize the public defender had a speech impediment [stuttering] when pronouncing certain words ; he wasn't drunk or had a hangover . In real life this actor had a stuttering problem which he learned to overcome !
Great, feel good movie
Joe pesci was great in Irishman also
Vinny girlfriend won a award for this movie she does even speak newyork accent
Excellent comedy!!!

when i see the law book at the start.... i am like "can i get that as an audiobook?" ;-)
33:30, and they lived happily ever after. The end.
Judge actor is Dad on old 60s Munsters show if you have seen!
Grits are good buddy. Im from the north so I like them with butter and sugar. Southerners, go ahead and chew me out lol.
Prosecutors have to provide files, defense doesn’t
One of my favorites too! Thanks for sharing with us!
Lay witnesses and expert witnesses sadly have different precedence in court cases
You, being from New York and all, might have the impression that law is... practiced with a certain degree of informality down here. It isn't.
Pronounced “machio” like macho
The judge is Herman Munster!
Dog you should watch Mr. Brooks from 2007 with Costner. One of the craziest movie experiences I’ve ever had.
Yay! George Mcfly is back!!!!
I worked at CNN in 2000. Curious from this, I asked for grits. It’s essentially oatmeal.
Is...is CNN known for its grits?
Again check out Pesci in the flick With Honors
He's good in raging bull also, home alone is more slapstick but he's good in that also
31:35 "the smacky thing" = gavel 😁
