    Excellent tutorial Moe. You explained this so well. For me, the important step that helped me understand how this function works is... the nudge setting - I had to adjust the settings so that the image moves 1000 px. Thank you. :)

    Hi! Thank you for your video, it is really helpful! I have a question.. at 11:48 you talk about a rendering line? I illustrated a pants in Inkscape and used a repeating pattern as pattern to fill. But when i export it to pdf i keep seeing those lines.. What can i do about that?

    How do you work out how big your finished repeating pattern will be. I followed your video and made my first seamless pattern but I’m worried to send it to the printers as I’m not sure how I work out how big the scale of the pattern will be ?

    You did a great job explaining this video!
    I am researching the best way to make a vector repeat pattern for my manufacturer. (The file will be used to print onto fabric). They asked for an .ai file or vector file. My question is, when you saved this file, i noticed that it was a PNG file and not a vector file, even though you used .ai artwork to create this pattern.
    How does that work? I’m just a little confused by that. I’m hoping this will be a better option rather than having to purchase and learn adobe illustrator!
    Thanks!

    Hi Moe, I tried this technique today and discovered a thin line between the 1000px nudges. How do I fix it? I made sure the square did not have any strokes on it.

    Hi there, thanks for this amazing tutorial! I just have a quick question I'm hoping you or someone might be able to help me with. Once I've added the extra square on top, highlighted them all and then right clicked and chosen 'set clip' - it does what yours does but everything is white - you can't actually see any of the colours or images. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks x

    Dear Moe, This is a wonderful tutorial. . . Could you please advise? When I "set the clip," my images (previously edited in Inkscape) revert to their original form and obscure one another. Could send screen capture of what I mean, if you are open to receiving. Thanks for the rescue!

    Hi Thank you showing us how to do this. When you say "nudge with the arrows". What arrows are you talking about, is it the four arrows that are on the keyboard?

      yes, the arrows that are on the keyboard

  • @onlyoldnavy

    Learned so much. So that's how I can make my own digital paper huh. Now to learn how to draw my own stuff lol. Can you show us how to make those boxes and half boxes for any sized planner?

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      +onlyoldnavy Glad it helped you out! You can move into the Silhouette software and use the pattern you've just created to fill any size box you make - any shape, box, even icon if it is an SVG file can have the pattern fill. At the end of the video when I made a simple box, just make whatever shape you'd like and fill it with the pattern.

    • @MoeHoward516

      You'll need to do control + D, and then use the arrow key. Pressing all three at the same time might be the problem.

    Thank you so much for such a clearly explained tutorial. I learnt so much.
    I have tried to download vectors from Freepik but I only get jpeg or eps in the download and they don't work in Inkscape
    Any advice please?

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  7 лет назад

      some of the FreePik downloads do not include an AI (or Adobe Illustrator) files to use with InkScape.. I find it's just hit or miss....I know you can install an extension to work with EPS files but I'm unfamiliar with how that woks.

    Great tutorial. I know that you can create patterns in Inkscape, but I don't know how you can name and save them for later - it would be nice if the guys at Inkscape worked on this a bit more. This technique is great for using with Silhouette. Thanks.

    Love this video, I learned a lot today. Do you know how to do ombre in inkscape.

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      +Juanita Groves Do you mean like an obmre checklist box for sticker making? Or an obmre pattern? I do not think one would be able to make an ombre repeating pattern as the ombre would cause a problem when the square is tiled across the page. But I think and obmre checklist tutorial would be a great idea. Thanks for watching!

    this is amazing! thank you for this I can do this on illustrator but can't afford the monthly sub ! i was wondering how we did it on inkscape. can you use the tile as a pattern fill on inkscape say to fill a shape?

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад +2

      Yes, you should be able to. I have to say I'm just sharing things as I learn them but I do believe if you select Object form the menu bar, then pattern, then object to pattern, it puts the pattern you made into the fill pattern drop down menu. But I'm not 100% certain on how that part works yet. Hope you try more in inkscape. It is a fun program to play around with and great because it is free!! Thanks for watching :)

    I keep getting a white line between my repeats. Do you have any idea why??

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  4 года назад

      In my experience that is a rendering problem meaning it's just an error with the way the computer/software displays the repeated pattern and shouldn't show up in the finished pattern.

    Great but how to get rid of white gap lines around squares when i nudge them????

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  6 лет назад

      It might just be a rendering issue in Inkscape...I notice them too but when I export the pattern they aren't visible. Hope that helps.

      I believe that effect is just in the visual display of the screen - I've had that happen on my screen but not on the final product. I'm not sure how to fix it if it does show up on the final product though...I'm sorry.

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  7 лет назад +1

      i'm not sure here! You are exporting as a PNG file? I'm not sure why it wouldn't save as an image. Can you check the file extension and make sure it says .png at the end? Otherwise, I'm not sure. Sorry!!

    • @bellebchronicles
      @bellebchronicles 7 лет назад

      @bellebchronicles 7 лет назад

      Hey, I just wanted to thank you for your help the other day. I finally figured out what the problem was. I had to first save it as an SVG then export it to PNG ( What a headache ) I'm sure there is a much better way of doing this and eventually I'll figure it out but for now, I'm just happy I got something saved thank you

    • @marlita2000

      I had the same problem also. I am working on a Mac and I did the same thing to make it a png file. It is a pain. I have a Windows machine, I might try it there and see if it is only a Mac issue.

    • @MoeHoward516

      Using a jpeg file won't have a transparent background and you'll want to either use a PNG file or svg/vector file to make patterns.
