Mariano Zamorano: The Sword Maker of Toledo

- Mariano Zamorano is the fifth of his name, continuing a tradition of sword making that started with his great-great-grandfather in the 1850s. He is one of the last artisanal sword makers left in Toledo.
I have a custom blade made by this man. It is a beautiful piece of work.
I'm interested in buying a bare blade from this master. May I ask how much did he charge you for the blade?
@@wisuwatbhosri9971 300 euros! It was the most glorious thing. I was looking at his swords for 300 euros and he came along and after I had explained that whilst his swords were lovely they were not exacty what I was looking for.
'I could make you one' He said.
'Of course you could' I replied 'but how much would that cost?'
'300 euros' he said, puzzled........
His swords are not made for hema practice and are made as real blades. If you intend to fence with it you will need good control as the blade will be stiff by HEMA standards.
I would still recommend as having a traditional Toledo blade made by the last smith inside the walled city of Toledo is something that is more fantastic today than it was int he 16th centuery.

@@strtmnky Thanks mate. 300 euros, from maybe the last of Toledo swordsmiths, is a steal. I don't plan to fence another person with it (I don't know how ha ha). I just admire and like to own historically accurate swords. How did you contact Mr Zamorano, through the email info@?
@@wisuwatbhosri9971 I happened to be on holiday in Madrid and Toledo is not so far that you can't go there for a day. I recommend, the city is amazing.
He did not speak a word of English when I was the re but I presume he must have some manner of translating for international customers. Alternatively, ig you have a Spanish speaking friend you trust.....
I visited Madrid, Avila, Burgos, and Zaragoza last May. As we were on a tour schedule, I had no chance to go to Toledo. Next year, I must go there for the swords.

let's hope that the genuine swordsmith technique of Toledo won't be lost like the technique of the assyrian "Dasmasco Sword"
He must leave notes of schematics, leave a legacy.
They already figured out how to make that again, Mike Loades did a documentary on its rediscovery for free on youtube

I have mine. It is a thing of pure beauty, fine craftsmanship and precise balance. This is my #1 gatekeeper. Consider my .357 magnum is a backup. Nuff said?

from here the king of spain give sword to ch.Shivaji maharaj (INDIAN Legend ) as a gift ............when ch Shivaji maharaj gives the order of 4fit swords to toledo ...for maratha armys then the king of spain gives the sword of fully made with daimonds n other golds at the grip of sword...

I have a sword it looks old says Toledo ..that's all I know . no one can
tell me anything about it.
I have one to, it only says Spain but it has the same Marto Toledo crest or symbol on the blade. Its a Spanish colada.
Zamorano swords will be stamped "ZM Toledo" near the hilt.
I'm going to upload a video of the sword and show you the marking, I hope you can help me that way. Give me 5 minutes.
