I am fascinated by the splendor of the golden Klimt paintings, but I wanted to use for my first exercise no gold leaf and so I used acrylic gold paint.
Gustav Klimt, son of a gold engraver, has performed in many of his paintings gilding.
The master artisans of his works I cannot copy and I didn't want to copy, I only wanted to get an association with the gilded Klimt paintings.
The canvas was primed with a mixture of red and brown acrylic lacquer.
The squares were taped with masking tape and painted with a brush.
By the direction offset by 90 degrees of the brushstrokes the gloss appears different depending on the light.
The portrait was painted with oil paint, the red and blue Applications with shellac-based Sennelier ink and the b/w ornaments with acrylics.

Very nice, I love Klimt's works, I always look at people's "Klimt's "and this one is great, I think is original, I haven't had mine yet, but I will give it a try soon, is not easy to put on in his shoes, I've been in front of several of his pieces and they leave me speechless, he had the influence of his father who was a goldsmith and learned from him the wonders of the beautiful metal. I bought real gold leafs, I've been working using them, but you gave me the idea of working with different gold acrylic paints which I have and start working on my version of The Kiss, I subscribed, you have an interesting page, thanks for sharing.

I already worked with gold leafs too and it is very difficult. My respect to Gustav Klimt. The acrylic method in this video is easier. Since I did not copy a motive from him, I was free in arranging the golden elements.
      Good luck for your work.
I am glad that you subscribed to my page and thank you very much for your support.

I love your process here. I think copying the masters (or doing variations on their works) is a good way to learn their techniques. This is beautifully done. :) (And yes, I subscribed.)

That's exactly what I'm thinking about copying old masters. I learn a lot about the composition - you can find some more copy videos that I have done. Thank you very much, Lori, for subscribing.

    • @DLIIart
      @DLIIart  7 лет назад

Many Thanks for your comment. You are right with the Music, but there is the Copyright Problem and I can't use a lot of Music that I would like to use. So I mostly use royalty free Music.

I see. Why don't you try talking us through your creative process? There are some people out there who are really good at that, others should use music instead! I do love your work, I must say.

good idea, Diana, but I have a horrible voice and do not like to hear myself speaking. So I prefer to describe what I'm doing.

Rubbish, someone who can paint like you can't have a horrible voice but I know what you mean about not liking the sound of your own voice, I'm the same lol

I can give you an example - I wrote a book about my painting (german language only) and in YT Ithere are 5 videos where I'm reading this book - horrible...
