Could watch Erik riff all day!
Hell yeah, and boys please release this single right before this album comes out it's very badass. I'm anticipating it so much and very hyped for it. You guys and Cannibal rule
me tooooooooooooo hahaha
Please write below who is the author of this song from the album!
Only the day ? All night too ! 🤘🏻
@@user-el7ww9yg2v Music & lyrics by Erik Rutan.
One of the best sounding CC songs in decades. No joke that shit is heavy
Rutan kicks ass
Blown away this time
Fax
Well hello??!! \ERIC IS HATE-ETERNAL/!!!hes the king of death metal in the world!! He kicks everyones ass live and master mind creating some bad ass albums and songs!! \HATE-ETERNAL/!!!🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥😈
This tune kicks so much ass cannibal corpse is awesome dudes
Ahhh now that's the kind of guitar playthrough I like.
Hey ! Nice to see you here too and on most metal I watch 🇮🇳
Hell yeah karl rock is a metalhead
What are you doing here Karl Lol? Ap bhi metalhead Hain Kya?
Haha no way, who even knew!?? Awesome.
You rock, man.
saw hate eternal, morbid angel and now cannibal corpse with erik on guitar. dude is a legend.
@AmericanUNCENSOREDit was Derek roddy originally I believe
@AmericanUNCENSORED el primer baterista de Hate Eternal fue Tim Yeung.
Don't forgot Ripping Corpse too, Amazing band
Hell yeah, loved every second of it!!!
Nice to see you hear man
Of course you love every second of it, Erik is the best death metal guitarist After you of course 😂
When are you getting an Ironbird Kevin?
Kevin!! Im telling you, you are on the level of these metal legends man! And you bounce the guitar like him too lol.
@@citoyeneuropeen5436 well there is Chuck Schuldiner
Absolute master of brutality.
Absolutely,as well you are!
Rutan is the guy that you randomly see on the street and you don't have to ask what's his job.. you somehow know the dude plays DEATH METAL!! massive respect
Omg so fuckin true. This man exude metal.
Lol, it's the hair... isn't it? 😂
😅. yea. lol
He actually owns his own recording studio where he produces so many death metal bands. He has a ear for music in general.
I love every guitarist Cannibal Corpse has ever had in their own way, but this really is some of the freshest riffage I've heard from them in a long time.
Pat!!!!!...
Eric and jack owen for me
They are all amazing players, but Pat's tunes are some of my favorite CC compositions.
We aren't ready for Cannibal Rutan. Crush me, daddy.
Awesome to see you here, miss Down to the Merrow man. Hope to see you posting again sometime.
To be fair, Erik is basically the metal dad we all wish we had. So this is appropriate XD
Well said Mr Merrow
Back to the channel, Keith!! We miss you..
Hahahahhahaha
I love how Erik is one of the scariest looking dudes in death metal and yet is one of the nicest guys in the entire scene.
He'll get along great with Fisher heh
I still prefer Pat cause Rutan's place is in Hate Eternal
Know his since we were teens. He is absolutely one of the chillest dudes ever...talented but humble...he rocks🤘
@@h.k.295 different players, different styles. Sadly Pat needs to get his head straight. Just a little too crazy for civilian life.
@kaze 85 you're opinion is wrong because opinion.
I always felt like Erik Rutan somehow flies under the radar both as a player and a engineer/mixer. Dude is a monster. Wouldn't mind seeing another cannibal play through.
Same thing can be said about Dave Davidson of Revocation’s vocals. His highs are really vicious sounding and often fly under the radar whenever people talk about great vocalists.
@@Stretchwreckedem469 I agree. DD is great
The tone and the riffing jumps out of my earbuds and punches me right in the face, along with anyone standing near me.
I am truly speechless and terrified how brutal and precise is Erik's playing style. His is biting the sh*t out of this guitar and still there is a lot of melody in this song. CC get to another level with Erik on board.
Hate Eternal is tight as live, even if Erik's the sole guitarist for the show and he sings while playing.
@@redironbird3857 I know, I've seen hate eternal live in 2019 when they were touring with Nile in Europe. I also meet Erik after the show. Totally chill and friendly dude.
Another crazy adition to how amazing erik is he plays with a REALLY high action
@@dreadnought703 was just going to say the exact same thing. With thick gauge strings and apparently not a lot of distortion. Which means he’s picking the fuck out those strings.
@@juvedoo99 are those 13 - 62? Something like that? I remember that Granvilleguitars made a video of his guitar setup. Need to check it one more time
Edit.
Those are 12 - 60 in A# yup they are thick
Criminally underrated in everything he does, and he does everything. Was so happy to see him join cannibal.
All true!!!
Erik is one of the major reasons why the Florida Death Metal scene is still around! All the albums he produced, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, and now Cannibal Corpse among the guest appearances he made on other bands albums...nobody is worthy of the brutality he unleashes when he gets the chance!
@@trendmassacre8423 loved Domination. It was different but in a good way. Funny though, if look up that album Google ha it categorized as "sludge metal" haha. Where the slime live...🤘
That last Hate Eternal was filthy and everyone slept it
@@hitleractually8180 True - I slept with my girlfriend to the last Hate Eternal on the regular. She knows every phrase of the outro solo on All Hope Destroyed now. A great, great record.
That tone ... those riffs... that beautiful guitar... goddam.
Erik Rutan is so good that when he plays guitar blast beats appear
Erik should have a weapons licence for how he plays that axe🤘
@Benny Nunn if any political Democrat watches this video they will definitely try to ban the brutal Rutan Ax!
Also for those forearms.
Lol for real
When cannibal slow down they are devastating. This song is not ultra complicated but damn, the riff is ultra catchy and will kill your forearm in 20 seconds.
yes , i agree 100 percent. the last album had alot of fantastic songs
Yeah a lot of my favorite songs are their slower, moodier ones.
i was just thinking the same thing. This is a arm burner for sure.
Is a chromatic/power chord forearm burner for sure! Plus the way he strums the living shit out of those strings make it even more brutal.
Finally! Other people who appreciate the slower side of CC.. I always caught a lot of flak for that particular opinion.
Man, everything just comes together with these guys. Erik is a monster. Paul is a beast.
What you are witnessning people: Is a man who have dedicated his life to extreme-metal music. That is and has always been his purpose in life.
Whenever there is a guitar there is a guitarist named ''Erik Rutan''. I envy him not only for his skills but he is shredding on a BC Rich Ironbird!!!!
Love Rutan. Doesn’t get any more death metal than being able to play/record/write songs for BOTH Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, plus Hate Eternal and getting to record/define a new era by carrying the torch from Scott Burns. Wicked.
and ripping corpse dude
Truly death metal’s Renaissance Man.
You nailed it with the Torch carrier. Scott Burns is legend and Erik understands the sound and dynamics of DM and appreciates it so greatly that it shows tremendously.
Very well put, my good Sire.
I think he's in Cannibal Corpse full time now isn't he
Erik is absolutely perfect for Cannibal Corpse.
Perfect for any band
Eric is a true Ace of a guitar player. He has been desperately missed in Morbid... so glad he’s joined a Death Metal Champion in Corpse
I'm never missing another Cannibal or Hate Eternal show again. I've already missed too many.
Me: What are the power chords for this?
Erik: Yes
Literal LOL from me my dude
Fucking ALL of them.
Hahahah!
And I love every goddamn second of em!
🤣
One of the nicest guys in metal. Such a humble man to meet in person
Yes he certainly is
I agree. I’ve met him too and he is very awesome. \m/ >< \m/
Agreed! My favorite producer now playing with my favorite band. Couldn’t ask for more. 🤘🏻
This is my favorite track of the 3 released so far.
Hell yes and Corpsegrinder is too!
So awesome to see how much power this dude is playing with in his picking hand
I definitely don't come here once a day, everyday, to watch this.
Cannibal Corpse is one of those bands that sometimes I can't even headbang to...I just stare at their videos in disbelief at how heavy they are
I completely feel what you mean. Even in middle school I was like in a trance when hearing this music. It was just so unreal that music like this existed.
In case anyone was wondering, Rutan's sound in this video consists of the B.C. Rich Ironbird loaded with Bill Lawrence L-500 (neck pickup) and Gibson dirty fingers (bridge pickup), a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier plugged into a Marshall cab loaded with celestion greenbacks and a Maxon st9 pro+ pedal.
Is he tuning to B standard?
@@christopherdamron269 I know that usually CC uses or D# or A# standard, sometimes G# or B.
@@szveszs yea A# sounds about right for this song, I was close! Haha
Stunning guitar! The Dirty Fingers (70's classic rock style pickup) in the bridge make it sound on point. Thank you!
Unfortunately I don't know the tuning, I only have information regarding the gear here
www.guitarworld.com/news/cannibal-corpses-erik-rutan-chugs-shreds-and-sweeps-with-violent-aggression-in-this-grinding-condemnation-contagion-playthrough
I actually wouldn't mind if this song was an instrumental one... It is so sick. And the solo, jeez. Just insane!
Me, listening to the final work in the album: I am not disappointed. Not at all. Didn't expect Fisher's scream right out the bat.
Seriously one of the best solos I've ever heard, makes your jaw drop hard.
That BC Rich, the Triple Rectifier, the riff and his angry face are the perfect combination !! It sounds amazing!
It’s not anger---Erik is one of the most intense people on the planet Earth!!!!! And when you put that guitar in his hand---he escapes reality and enters into his own insane world of playing!!!!! ❤️🤘🇺🇸❤️🤘🇺🇸💪💪💪💪😳🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣😇
Goddamn. Everything Rutan touches is gold. Even Gold just becomes more gold-ish after Rutan touches it.
Overlord Midas
Lol!
lmfaooo
RUTAN IS THE GOD OF DEATH METAL!!! \HATE-ETERNAL/!!!🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥😈
Please don’t blaspheme the Name of God. Peace!
Hands down best album in years, mastered amazing.
Oh wait, look at this legend.
Thank you so much Mr Rutan.
Couldn't think of a better person to come in for Pat. Still gonna miss what Pat brought but Rutan is great in his own way.
Nice words! As a die-hard Pat O'Brien fan, I absolutely agree!!!
I still prefer Rusay era. But that's me
Yeah, this is great material, but I still miss Pat's solos.
@@Szlejer again, I absolutely agree with you both! Rutan is a fantastic guitarist and shredder, but whoever grew up on Pat and became die-hard fan.. nobody will be better for you. Period! But he's a great choice for his successor!
Two words... FRANTIC DISEMBOWLMENT🤘🤘🤘
Erik looking at his guitar while playing like, "I will crush you." Have always admired his playing, he understands and demonstrates that "tone" and clarity originates in the hands of the player.
He's looking at it like just you wait till the camera is off
The sheer power , awesome!
Met this dude at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. He was out near the Cannibal bus. Meeted people. Down to earth. I thanked him for his music.
Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal....
Didn't take a Pic with him,..I just genuinely had to just thank him.
The solos from the new album sound more melodic than ever in all Cannibal Corpse albums.
I was thinking the same thing. Loved Pat but a lot of his solos were just random shredding
@@JT_Grogan Couldn't disagree more. He was a virtuoso of creating dastardly intricate, nasty solos with an immense amount of clever reference and technique. The perfect match for CC. What I've heard of Rutan's solos so far, they're a lot more mundane.
Very tough call. Rutan has a more pleasant vibe BUT I think Pat played much more appropriate solos for the band. Kinda like how Hammett is definitely more skilled and melodic than Kerry King, but I know who I want to hear finishing Angel of Death!!
@@edwardchester1 his solos on priests of sodom and caged contorted always stand out to me
Yeah, and i like that! 💪🙌🤘
That is one of the coolest Corpse riffs I've ever heard...wait, nvm...one of the coolest riffs EVER of all time!
But would Mr Corpsegrinder be impressed?
That was insanely amazing! Holy Schnitt!
Just got an Ironbird in the mail the day this was released, the stars have aligned yet again and we are graced with the riffs of the extreme metal gods. Praise Erik ⚔️
Everything is great but what personally impresses me the most here is Erik's left hand accuracy when it comes to switch power chord positions... And his brutal right hand attack of course !
I think that's because he's a super technical producer.
So...everything then?
@@TheSicknO everything but x2
I was thinking "how the fuck is his right hand doing that the whole time" but you reminded me, my VERY first thought was "jesus he's moving those power chords quick"
Down picking makes for the most brutal riffs.
this is the new era of Cannibal Corpse
This made me day then, and it will make my day tomorrow.
Watched this video more than 10 times. This is perfect devastation
The obvious choice for CC. Great player and great play through!
Loving this playthrough. Erik definitely brings a new life into cannibal just like when pat joined and when rob joined the second time. Can’t wait to hear the lyrics to this one !
Dude!!!!! Some big ass hands fucking killing that solo and manhandling the neck of that guitar. This man engineers, produces AND lays down some tasty licks. FUCKING BRUTAL!!!
2:42 I cant believe how many times i've watched this video and i never seen the second video in the bottom right, that solo is so mindblowing it took me like 50 goes to pay attention to anything else.
Fuck, dude, the second that intro riff kicked in I wasn't ready. Whole track sounds sick. Erik is a great addition to the band. This album is sounding like it's gonna be a banger.
Damn, Paul has really improved his drumming, I personally think these songs are way more demanding for a drummer than most of their discography
When I heard the first two singles that was the first thing that REALLY stood out to me. The fills are far more involved and quite a bit more often than previous records. It's far more energetic. I think this album is going to be fantastic.
In an interview paul said that this album has some insane drum work
Paul's drumming has always sounded insane but here he's really pushing himself
@Andy Don true he was amazing and full of energy then..He seemed top get a bit stale around the middle period this he sounds revived and energised again
Funnily enough, it was Erik Rutan as a producer who pushed him to the point he’s at today
I mean, Cannibal Corpse should be really honored to have someone like him on board. Dude's a legend of death metal and one of the nicest guys I've met for sure.
One of the most brutal, catchy riffs ever laid down.
It almost takes me back to the Jack Owen stuff, in a good way!
Jack Owen was nothing compared to Rutan. But I appreciate your opinion
@@christopherchesaux3554 jack owen wrote the best cc songs ever, what are you talking about? Catchy Cc beats technical Cc all day for me. Pat was a machine but boring IMO, Owen and Barret write better stuff.
Jack is arguably the definitive CC guitarist. He a perfect blend of technical ability and old school catchiness and was instrumental (no pun intended) in CC drive towards becoming more technical in the mid-late 90’s.
Erik’s picking is fucking insane.
That downpicking is intense lol
Everyone: Drop tuning? The chords will be easier to play!
Eric: Fuck That
Don't they use A# standard? I can see Erik playing 5ths on the 6th string with 2 fingers.
@Bart Lee Then I don't see the point of the original comment, since Hate Eternal and Morbid Angel is standard as well.
@Bart Lee I get that. Sorry, just misunderstood the meaning of Bleak Antiquity's comment.
That is fuckin rad. Love when. erik is writing on anything. His style is so perfect for brutal music.
This music makes me want to go and bench press a tank.
This is probably my favorite song they’ve released yet, and all I’ve heard is this play through. If the rest of the album is on the level of these songs I can easily see this being the best DM record of the year.
Agreed!!
@@fredriksvard2603 they write songs, not riffs, and they don’t need to flex their fast twitch talent to cover up a lack of creativity.
What an undoubtedly catchy and groove driven riffs.
That transition that starts at 1:55 quite possibly makes the brutal riff starting at 2:10 my favourite Cannibal Corpse riff ever. Great writing!
Brutal!

I love how aggressive he plays guitar, he picks like he is always mad😂
But i do have to say this is the best Cannibal Corpse song ever
Very focused
It's called conviction. And makes for the best riffs.
I’ve seriously replayed that solo 20 times, marvellous
Damn those riffs 🔥🔥
This album is already my favorite of Cannibal's entire discography based on the three songs released so far.
Two and a half songs
@@samuelhowitt9733 It doesn't matter. I doubt that George would ruin it, and the music in this one is awesome. This is the full length of the song already anyways.
This and first single really stand out. The second song they released- meh- could have been from any of the last 4 albums and I wouldn’t even notice, quite generic and uninspired.
@@martinsskutans6646 I wouldn't call it generic, but that is definitely the weakest track on the album so far from what I can tell. With that being said, I still really enjoyed it
@@martinsskutans6646 murderous rampage was my favorite out of the 3 wtf
man i can't stop watching this video since it's posted. please more erik rutan.
What’s nuts to me is Cannibal Corpse does everything in standard tunings instead of drop tunings. That makes these riffs so much harder lol. This riff’s got serious balls \m/
Drop tuning are for kids.
@@OssianOtt Man… this type of thinking is why so many people hate the Metal guitar community. So you’re telling me Nile, which uses drop tuning is any less talented than Cannibal Corpse? The only kid is you, leaving a retarded comment like that.
@@OssianOtt generally true, with few huge exceptions like Nile, Origin, and some other credible metal acts
What tuning is this

how can this guy move his left hand SO FVCKEN FAST and yet be so precise???
@Andy Don no shit, genius
@@Hell_Inc ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer
@Andy Don yup, just practice. 0 talent.
Erik's lead playing and lead tone are absolutely unmatched in the realm of traditional death metal, in my opinion. They always stand out to me, even as a bassist/rhythm guitarist who cares about riffs far more than leads. Absolutely love all of the solos I've heard for this new album so far
Goddamn. His left arm is like a programmed machine during the main riff.
This is actually what a real playthrough is.
Erik is one underrated guitar player. The aggression and speed are so spot on. A visual plus sonic delight!
Rutan style! Yes!
0:55 this riff is good af 💀
I can watch this for years!
If gore had a sound, it would be this. Erik Rutan is the fucking man!!!
CANNIBAL CORPSE!!!!!!!
Is GW finally coming around to DM's talent and pure kingly domination? That's some sickening power-riffing! Love that deep, deep tone. Shit's gonna crush live!
Bruh...guitar world has showcased many dm bands and players in the past before
@@raperepublicanwomentheysee1786 Been reading it for decades yo, I'm aware.
I’ve been playing this repeatedly! That solo is like nothing I’ve heard before!
Seeing that Rectifier sitting stage left is like seeing Erik's older brother watching being proud, with how much love he's shown the Rectifier over the years.
He actually didn't use them that much until playing with cannibal. His main rig is a JCM 800 with a tube screamer
I got carpel tunnel on my right hand just by watching this (no regrets)
Yo arms beefy
I love that they still use standard tuning (as in the interval between the notes, obvs its tuned down) instead of a dropped tuning for the top 2 strings. Just makes it that much more brutal.
Exactly. Nile does drop tunings like gods because it's a different way they use more than 2 strings and they play 500 miles an hour and still got talent.
Erik rutan you are truly king. Hate eternal is what got me into death metal 20 years ago
Sick!! Love this playthrough
This is so groovy. Hell yeah, we like it! 🔥🔥🔥
Sounds amazing!!
This dude has been insane for years 💯
I have the feeling, that this album will have many snare fills👀
Brutal playthrough btw
Damn this is gonna be a bruiser of an album!! Killer riffs brother Rutan!!
Amazing.
Love this
Erik Rutan might be the most underrated musician in extreme metal. How that solo ended on the tonic was just high art 🫡
