- KINGSLEY NORTH -
Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

- THE ROCK SHED -
I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

Thelma Stevens is a treasure. Proof: she’s my grandma.
Her mother, Helen Mercer (born 1909), was an educator and a woman of many talents. She passed on her legacy to her daughter and her family. So proud to see something she left given such a wonderful polishing.
It's easy to see she's a lovely person!
It was wonderful to see how excited she was when Peter came back looking so gorgeous!
Hi Eric! Thanks for telling us more about your great grandma.
@@MichiganRocks Hi Rob! What a privilege to see a family heirloom given such royal treatment. I’m sure my great grandma Mercer - who passed away when I was very young - would be so pleased. Her daughter certainly is, as are all of us, her children and grandchildren. Thank you!
@@MichiganRocks The red headed Stevens child checking in! I saw that on a ledge in her house and said she had to get it polished. Thank you so much for taking the time to pretty it up!
"On a doily on the coffee table. It's a jewel." She's a doll and I'm so glad that you did that for her ☺️ She loved it before and you can tell she loves it even more now 🥰
She wasn't just acting for the camera either, she was showing it off to anyone still hanging around after Mass.
@@MichiganRocks I believe it 😁 I'd be over the moon too if I received a treasure like that!!!! Shoot, I'm that excited for my own basic rocks that I tumble. For that one to already have so much story behind it and then the fairy rock father to fix it up like Cinderella at the ball 🥰
My thoughts exactly.
That was the nicest thing I have ever seen someone do for someone else. The reaction of her was priceless. You are a good man Rob.😉
It wasn't that big of a deal on my end. I was just a little concerned that something would go wrong. There's a little bit of pressure when a rock has sentimental value.
@@MichiganRocks What a good guy!
I about died laughing when you told the rock "this might sting a little"!!! Your friend is a great lady. I'm glad you could do such a nice thing for her. The process is interesting.
This was a super fun thing to do.
Makes me feel good that you made your friend happy and that she is so appreciative. Warm hugs to you both. 🥰
Her reaction and appreciation were worth way more than I could ever sell a rock for. I was as happy as she was.
Well I’m sure we all love Thelma! Please tell her that her spirit and obvious kindness is a blessing to us all 🖤
Hopefully she'll read your comment.
Wow! The pudding stone is gorgeous, but Thelma is a GEM! Her exuberance reminded me of my Grandma, who I miss dearly. I closed my eyes when she initially saw ‘Peter’ again and her exclamation made my eyes pop back open because she sounded just like my Gma! Her voice is very similar. Made my eyes tear right up. So cool!
Sounds like you have an awesome grandma.
Rob, you are a good man.The world needs more like you.
I agree. He’s the type of guy that will help a stranger auntie load a bag of garden soil into the back of her car. Chivalry is not dead!
😊❤🎉❤ she, her mom, you and I and all your fans are rock lovers, and she even names them! Precious and perfect. ThankYou ❤
Miss Thelma is exactly the kind of person who deserves one’s time & energy. Her enthusiasm & appreciation moved me to tears. Her family treasure is now doily worthy! Well done Rob!
“alright Peter…this might sting a little.” 😄
Hi teetee I’m Cee Tee lol
@@Luciddreamer007 👋🏻
Thelma was so delighted. The joy on her face was wonderful to see.
This was such a feel good video! I loved hearing the back story and "meeting" lovely Thelma....and of course Peter! Thank you for sharing this!
I see lots of rocks, but not usually ones with such a great story.
OMG! That video was just precious! Peter came out really well too! That was super nice of you and her reaction to seeing it after you polished it, was just absolutely priceless! Thank you for sharing this!
Seeing Thelma appreciate it so much was awesome. This was a fun project.
The highest praise ever is that it’ll be center stage on the coffee table On A Doily!!! Wow!!
You're right. I don't know of any other rocks I've polished that have been given such a high honor.
That was awesome. Her mom picked a fantastic pudding stone
She sure did.
What a glorious specimen! Its even better that Peter has a great story and was made into an even more beautiful treasure. Did anyone else notice the white quarts heart? Its on the side most often shown first.
I did! It seems like so many more stones showed up after polishing. Gorgeous!
I guess I missed that.
Thelma is a delight! I loved seeing her happiness at Peter's transformation :)
she was genuinely amazed...great story and wonderful deed.
I am so happy that you shared her story and reveal! Warmed my heart to see her so happy! You are amazing and so kind!
It was really sweet of you to do that for her. This lady sounds so kind and what a lovely rock with a great story to it.
This put a big smile on my face. Thelma's pudding stone( Peter) is amazing. What a sweet Lady! Nice job with Peter Rob. You sure made her a happy lady.
This has to be the best rock story I've ever seen. The excitement she showed while talking about the history of the pudding stone and when she saw it all shined up was incredible! She is an absolute sweetheart and you made her day! So, so sweet!
This is the greatest video I've seen in quite some time!! My goodness I can not stop smiling, listening to her happiness is everything! Thank you for sharing.
I smiled all day yesterday when I filmed the end. I smiled every time I thought about it today too. Yesterday was a good day.
@@MichiganRocks I'm sure I will smile everytime I see a pudding stone from here on out. It's the simple things in life that bring happiness and this is the proof. Amazing.
That made me smile. Her reaction and the back story were priceless. Thanks for making this video.
I kept smiling while editing it. I was wearing headphones and Nancy asked why I kept smiling. I think she thought something was wrong with me.
Michigan Rocks: ha! well we already know there is something wrong with ya! Just kidding… always enjoy the videos.
You got a special place in heaven reserved for you kind Sir.
That turned out amazing. It was a joy to see her excitement with the reveal.
I love that part of this video. It's one of my favorite moments in all of my videos.
Just beautiful. You have a big heart. She is so sweet. And Peter turned out so amazing. He is worthy of the coffee table for sure.
Not just a coffee table. A coffee table _and_ a doily.
Oh yes, on a doily too. Just so sweet. I thought she was gonna cry she was so happy.
that was just wonderful brightened my whole day, she is so lovely i love her reaction
Made my day too. Several days, in fact.
I love it!! Peter on a doily on the coffee table, with Thelma happily ever after🥰
Rob, you are an angel.
You made Thelma's day! Such a nice act of kindness. She sees a jewel that reminds her of her mother. Excellent job!
Happy Father's Day! What a precious thing to do... brighten a story and a memory for someone!!
Thanks!
❤❤😂beautiful story, guys! Peter has face as well. Nice find...
That was so cool! She was so happy!!! You were so nice to do that for her and it came out so nice to.
That was very cool of you to do that for her! It’s a beautiful pudding stone with a more beautiful story
Way to give back Rob . You did a wonderful job and a wonderful thing for someone to remember a loved one . Priceless my friend . Thank you for sharing with us .
What a nice story. The rock was a treasure and so are you for polishing it up for her. She sure appreciated it.
This is so Precious, Love this !!! Your Grandma is a treasure .
I love her explanation of the Peter rock from her mom.
What a great time of fun and fellowship . Her excitement was catching !!!
Thelma is a grandma, but not my grandma.
Super job polishing Peter! Just make sure no one stumbles over him. Enjoyed Thelma’s enthusiasm.
Thelma was so cute in her excitement. Peter turned out beautiful. Very good job, Rob.
These kinds of videos are what we need more of... nice job on Peter... and you’re a good person...👍
This was the feel good video of the year for me.
What a beautiful stone and Thelma is adorable! Rob, your kindness is a gift from God!
What a sweet thing to do. Such a wonderful video…and the rock looked amazing!
Nice job Rob, That’s a very cool pudding stone and a lovely story. Thanks for sharing
What a beautiful rock and a wonderful kindness. That video was a gift for everyone I think. Thanks Rob.

Such a wonderful story indeed! And a perfect ministry you have performed for Thelma. All three of you are beautiful!
So awesome you did this for her. I'm sure her Mom was smiling in heaven.
Made your day as well Rob , A treasured moment
You're right there for sure.
Reminds me of "the one ring." 😆 Precious!
Getting to see you both so happy from this made my day! So much love and joy shared between such beautiful souls 🌟
Made my day too. I smiled all day. I'm still smiling.
@@MichiganRocks 👏👏👏 that's what I'm talkin about 🤩✨ I love this so much!
I like the lady! She has an incredible way with words. Great energy
This was one of the most fun rock projects I've done in a long time. It was Thelma's enthusiasm that made it that way.
How nice of you to do that for her! That was so sweet and you made her so happy. The pudding stone is really good looking. Suzy AZ USA
I was happy to do it for her. It's fun to do stuff like that when someone appreciates it so much.
That was so sweet! I love the story
Thelma is so lucky that you polished Peter so nicely! That was so nice of you to do!
Nice job, Peter turned out fantastic! Thelma is a hoot and sweet soul and if I lived there would love to hang out with her.
Isn't she just a doll 🥰 Lovely lass, lovely puddingstone, and your a sweetheart too as always. I really enjoyed this one! Much ❤️ from Sweden
She is right.. It went from a rock to a gem..
The pudding stones are an amazing creation of nature, they just blow my mind everytime i see them polished✌️ Napa California
What a beautiful story, and an even more beautiful rock! Great job!
That was a good looking puddingstone before it was polished; now, it is spectacular.
I've never thought to use power tools like that to finish larger specimens, but can see it really works well.
I have done several big puddingstones like this and have also made three bowls using the same method.
What a delightful lady, a wonderful story and a beautifully polished pudding stone.
Seeing Thelma's reaction to Peter's facelift made my day. You did a great thing for her Rob. 🙂
That made my whole month. It's fun to make people happy.
Wow, really nice. That was a really good deed you did there. Your friend was really impressed! “Peter the traveling pudding stone!” I took notes. I did try to tumble a not-so-good Lakeport, Lake Huron pudding stone. Not a nice result, lots of those “hidden” impact speckles we’ve talked about previously. I’ll watch a couple times for sure, I watched the winter sales and now have a big 7” grinder with diamond cup, also a smaller grinder. No wet grinder yet, still on the shopping list! But, I can start my rough grinding on a few bigger stones I have. Again, great job, good works, and excellent production. You’re really getting good at this! Thanks for sharing!
Puddingstones never tumble perfectly, they always undercut. Polishing them on a cab machine or with the tools that I used in this video works much better.
Wow. That is a lovely lovely pudding stone - the inclusions are amazing. Thank you so much for doing this fir her, and it was fun to watch. Just wow.
such a heartwarming video, and what a great bunch of people ❤ beautiful work. God bless you all
I don't think she would have been more excited if it were the Hope diamond. Fun story.
Diamonds are overrated.
@@MichiganRocks Some days are diamonds 💎.
Some days are stones 🪨.

That was a wonderful video. I just loved listening to her tell the story about Peter. You could tell the puddingstone gave her great enjoyment. She entrusted it to the right person, that's for sure. You did an outstanding job and as always do an excellent job explaining everything. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! This was such a beautiful video all around ❤️ Beautiful rock, beautiful story, beautiful reaction!
It's just about perfect for all those reasons.
It turned out just gorgeous! And it gets its own Doiley! Awesome Job what a Nice thing to do for her to keep Peter looking nice♥️
Putting Peter on a doily is the ultimate compliment.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Every bit of this was fantastic! Thank you for taking us with you!
Aww... That was great! I love her reaction. You are the Master. Thanks for sharing...
Being that she had such lovely memories associated with the pudding stone, I'm surprised she didn't cry when she saw it. I would have.
That would have made me uncomfortable. I'm glad she didn't cry.
@@MichiganRocks that's understandable.
You certainly made her day. 😁. I laughed when she said it will go on the coffee table on a doily. Fun video to watch. Thanks for sharing that with us. 😃
The doily comment made my day too. My mom has a lot of things on doilies too.
@@MichiganRocks when doilies come back in style, I will do the same. 🤣🤣🤣

On a doily on the coffee table! Place of honor! I loved the summer sweater she was wearing during the first part. Great job & pleasure to see her reaction & joy!
It was not super warm here in the first part of June. It's hot now though.

What a beautiful lady, a beautiful story and a beautiful tactile rock! 💜💜💜
Wonderful story Rob. Thanks for sharing and nice work on the polishing. Peter looks great and Thelma is awesome with her "JEWEL".
Peter sure looks beautiful after his makeover! What a thoughtful gift for your friend, I'm sure she treasures it! I've also enjoyed watching your rock hunting videos with your wife, your son-in-law, and your geologist friends. Nice guy, nice videos. Thanks!😊👍🏻
Thanks, Danika. I have fun doing videos with other people.
2:03 oh my gosh what a sweetheart! “Are we going to make a video so all your friends get to see it!?”

“It’s a jewel!!!!” Man mate, what pleasure you brought to her! On a doily even!!!!! So wholesome mate!
This video was more fun to make than most. I smiled that whole day after giving Peter back to her. You can't ask for more than that sort of appreciation.

All your videos are great but this one was particularly charming. Enjoyable on many levels. Thank you!
I agree. This is one of my favorites. It's fun to see someone get that excited about a shiny rock.
