I just wanted to thank you, for fixing my KTR a few years back. It blew out (And almost blew UP on me). The guys at my local music store couldn’t fix it. And after about 6 months or so, they said they had sent it to you. I love my KTR so much. It’s my main overdrive. And getting it back was awesome. I was worried I might not see it again. I will not be selling it. Ever. I’m excited to pick up a new KTR as a backup when the new ones are released. I have no doubt, at all. That it’ll be just as good as my original KTR. Take care! Grateful you have been making pedals all these years. I am on two waiting lists and may never actually get one thanks to the crazy scalpers but really appreciate that you started the KTR pedal and keep making this great pedal.
So #2 is actually #1! And your #1 was built a week later. You just made JHS owner Josh very happy, lol (he owns #2/actual #1). 13:30 . But silliness aside, I love this pedal and would be very happy with the new production KTR no matter what diode it has. They all sounded great.
Huge fan, Bill. Bought your pedal from Korea 20 odd years ago. The gold version. I no longer have it. But appreciate your craftsmanship and attention to detail nonetheless.
Waited years to catch up to this. Just purchased a KTR with box & paperwork from a guy in Australia for $550.00. He had it listed for six but cut me a deal wanting it to go to a "good home". I was happy to agree! Bought the AlieExpress KLONE two years ago. Just want to say thank you for your dedication to your craft and how so many benefit from your commitment to create.
I have one of your 2017-2018 KTR's (can't tell but bought it new around then). It's the only pedal that never gets cycled out. I use the buffer, the KTR and everything after it sounds better. All the best Bill, thanks for this beauty.
Thank you making this video! I used a Soul Food pedal for a long time. However, my guitar store was able to get a KTR and I was able to a/b the Soul Food and KTR by plugging and unplugging cables, they were not chained. I did prefer the KTR, and I now use it very often in my rig. I play a very simple setup with minimal effects, usually one pedal into a 1975 180 Watt Fender Supertwin (non-reverb) with six 6L6 RCA tubes. That amp with a Klon KTR really does something special. Whenever I play live, curious musicians in the audience will come up, and examine my rig, and comment on how good it sounds. The guitars I use are mostly Mahogany neck and body with vintage style pickups, my favorites are the DiMarzio paf Masters (a slightly hotter paf). Anyway if you've made it this far, thanks again for making simple and tasteful pedals. All the best in the future! Matthew Roach in Kansas
Josh Scott had 002 on reverb for half a million. It was satire on the used market pricing of pedals. He was never going to sell for that price or sell it at all.
Yea, Josh is gonna be a very happy man at this point....(but #1 is still #1... lol). So how long do you think it will be before that #1 gets snagged for an utterly comedic sum now that Bill has offered it for the price of "Some repairs on his house"?. ~Will it be the first Million Dollar pedal?. Its NUTS!. ;)
In around 1996 I was shopping for a overdrive pedal the person at music shop showed me a used klon and raved about it. I bought it took it home and hated it because it didn’t do the nirvana grunge sound I was looking for. I took it back and bought a metal zone. I no longer have the metal zone and here I am at 41 year old lol.
Exactly what I’m always telling people, buffered is almost always better. If you’re running true bypass you better at least have a buffer at the beginning and end of your chain.
hello bill. I think I have a small problem with my klon with serial number RG016, I was thinking of posting this symptom on RUclips, please take a look. Shouldn't I send it in for repair?
All good about tests and pots tolerance BUT... to do the right test you have to input THE SAME SIGNAL into the pedals. So looper pedal is needed. Person cannot play exactly 100% the same all the time. That's a big no no. I am quite amazed when you said about stupid "all at noon" stuff and then let the guy play the test sounds. Use the looper. Thanks :)
He will never care to answer u so I will. There is no waiting list anywhere. Just get a similar pedal and forget about this one. There’s no real interest in making this pedal a readily available product. As ridiculous as the KOT waiting list is AT LEAST they have that.
Bill, you've gone long seasons between production for the integrity of the product quality. If you don't have the production capacity to keep them rolling out with the same level of quality, reach out to Josh Scott at JHS. He'd love to partner with you to preserve the quality of your circuit and provid the supply that guitarists are craving!
Is there any way to on the PCB to distinguish which pedals are using the original NOS diodes and which are using the new design? I’m hoping so because as these new pedals are coming out I can imagine some people will try to sell them as using the original NOS diodes to command a premium on the resale market (Reverb etc.).
I live in your neck of the woods Mr. Finnegan. Why don't I put my Klown Centaur up against your version #2 of the KTR and see who wins? Mine is housed in a huge Ampeg Enclosure, and bigger is better!
Thanks for your talent. It stinks every time I try buying a ktr they go out of stock and the originals are ridiculous. Seems people just want to flip things rather than use them for their purpose screwing us regular guys
So which KTR was the new one with new stuff inside? The center pedal sounded ever so slightly brighter and more clear. Little less bass. The other one sounded a little more smooth and not as harsh attack.
The idiocy and fairy dust surrounding the insane price of these pedals is hilarious. Dudes really think this three knob overdrive will make their blues licks less trite
He will build original Centaurs and sell them on eBay. Sale goes to the highest bidder, generally $2500 usd. He knows people will pay funny money for them. This is at his own leisure mind you, Bill is in business for himself and himself only.
Just buy a Ceriatone Centura and you will be much happier. It's a much higher quality build and is the best available Klon-replica on the market. It's built just like the original Klon Centaur part-for-part.
I remember when this video came out I got super excited and got the cash ready.... I still have not seen them being released anywhere!! Very disappointing.... Went with Wampler instead... Don't believe if I bought one of these Id be completely satisfied... I feel customer support would be non-existent.
Rolling my eyes right now. Bill never said the diodes were magic, he only said that one specific diode gives the Klon that unique sound that can't be substituted nor can it be replicated by anything currently available. Also, can't tell you where I got those diodes, they are my secret. Not magic, just unobtanium. Unless you are talking new KTRs, which will use an acceptable substitute so that I can continue to charge too much for these while maintaining that I had nothing to do with all the ridiculous hype around this pedal. Hey, Bill -
What is the status of the KTR production? Are new units being made? Where can they be acquired?
Thanks for your time!
