My friend recently tried Ryzen software that is supposed to control voltage. And while it does work on some 4000 models, it DOES NOT work on Ryzen 5800h.
It’s running at a higher clock speed than the stock one after the power limit kicks in, it’s lower than the top boost frequency at stock, sure, but that’s not sustained. If you have a 5800H give it a shot, this ACTUALLY increases performance!
Tried to use for 6800u So before. Power usage - 25 wat After 17 Frequency down from 2800 to 2400mhz Temp from 85 to 68 Cibench performance test: from 9075 points to 7619. So basically, under volt - true underclock - true. That did temp much lower. But also lost in a performance.
Thanks for the report! I’d recommend you remove the other software you’re using, set the laptop on max performance and then apply the “balanced” option as in the tutorial, for better results!
Undervolting would allow you to keep using the max frequency of your cpu at a lower power level hence less heat, hence more boost time. This is not undervolting at all.
Well... on ACER Nitro 5 (AN515-45) with Ryzen 7 5800H the newest "Universal x86 Tuning Utility V1.1.0 Beta 3" did not make it a lot cooler, it make exact opposite. On idle it is +10 C degree hotter and while playing its -5 C cooler. However to my surprise it made Windows 11 much more snappy. Overall program execution is faster and moving between windows also seems snappier. KEKW i think i am gonna use this... and i think it added extra +400 Mhz sustainable cpu clock speed at the same cpu temps! :D Also honorable mention is for disabling turbo boost speeds. That one made 20 C degree difference. More i think of it - might be time for repasting my lap with Kryonaut.
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :) I definitely agree about the repaste, by tuning your power settings a bit you should be able to keep the same temp on idle. Using the curve it should be the same temp in idle and lower temp under load
Hi just to let you know that the undervolting aspect of this program does not work on the 5600 and 5800 as said by the developers themselves, it'll work on the 6000 series and 5900 versions though.
Weeeeell technically it does still lock to a certain voltagepoint in the curve even on the 5600 and 5800, so it “achieves undervolting”, if that makes sense. But yea a true voltage offset is only applied from the 6000 series and up! Still works for every Ryzen temp and performance wise tho
@@ImWateringPSUs Technically not. Definition of undervolting is running at same frequency with lower voltage. Undervolting doesn't work for any R5 or R7 CPU, since 5000 onwards (including 6000, 7000, 8000). Stop spreading misinformation.

They replaced the AATU with a UXTU which is similiar thing. Also there an adaptive mode where you can literally undervolt play with the curve optimizer and voltage which yields better results than just power limiting using the default presets. -20 to -30 on cores seems to be stable for my 5600H and the power draw/temps are much better, almost same performance.
@@noteyy I also have ryzen 5 5600h on a lenovo. 25% Boost of $0.5 investment? Easy. Put 2 eraser under back of your laptop. Actually many laptop designs with limited cooling capacities very strongly benefit from any improvement in cooling. So getting your fans turn faster or making airflow better can really boost your performance. Hell nah. This balanced mode nearly fried my r5 4600h. Usually I have 85°C and 2GHZ on my 2 year old CPU and I try to do something to up my GHZ to at least 3GHZ stock. (not even talking about the 4ghz boost). And after setting it to the balanced mode my temp was increased from 85°C to 95°C in 2 SECONDS. YES, 2 SEC. 10 degrees more. Also my GHZ jumped up from 2GHZ to 3. So I was like: Okay, that is very hot but the GHZ is very good. Little did I know that after 3 minutes my laptop turned off instantly. It did that prob because of an safety precaution, but it didn't want to give any signs of life for like 5min. After 10 minutes it turned on and it was bootlooping for another 10 min. I turned it off by pressing the power button for 10sec, and then turned it on again. This time it turned on as usual. Now it is working the same as before but it nearly got fried.
This isn’t related to my tutorial though, it means you have a very severe thermal problem that you are circumventing bu locking the frequency at 2Ghz, effectively leaving half the performance on the table. You should do a repaste/repad and give it a nice clean!
@@ImWateringPSUs Yeah, i probably should do it. I (kinda) fixed my problem with that GHZ, now its between 2.5-3.5 GHZ so it is okay. Please, change the name of this video and say that you can only limit temperature or power limits with 5000H/6000H series. The processors are locked and don't allow for UV. You should strive for proper and checked information!
So intel had allowed us to undervolt without the consideration for motherboard or any such BS limitations for 4th to 9th generations. Why did AMD block undervolting for ryzen 5000 and onwards? On desktops you can undervolt even locked CPU's. Is AMD incapable of creating a tool to help laptop users undervolt regardless of bios and motherboards? Its literally decreasing power consumption. You're not overclocking. And don't tell me its ''security''. They have supposedly HX chips that can undervolt. I see this as greed. Force people to pay for the privilege of undervolting.
My laptop automatically limits the temperature to 91 degrees. (I Just downloaded it a few minutes ago) with balance mode it gets even hotter xD The only helpful way for me is to disable the Cpu turbo in windows and running at stock 3,27ghz
bro its not undervolting....you just reduced the tdp of cpu which means less temperature and less performance undervolting gives less temperature and higher/equal performance
2:54 - for some reason you assume every graphics card overheats in a laptop. That's not how it works. Even if you mean dynamic boost, it won't always be enough to activate it by just making the CPU consume a little less power.
In pretty much every laptop, reduce the thermal and power output of the CPU will result in increased performance in game! That’s just a fact, obviously if you have a VERY chonky laptop with huge heatsinks then it doesn’t really matter
@@ImWateringPSUs I have a thin laptop with a very weak cooling system, and it would matter if it overheated. I've been watching hundreds of gaming laptop reviews each year from professional reviewers and what you say matters extremely rarely. I have used HWInfo to check why there was a tearing sometimes when opening programs. However i have decided to risk it and downgrade bios from version 1.10 back to 1.08 - which now is much more stable. However in 1.08 max voltage noted by me so far are now around 1,46 V. Also i will note that now while i have 1.08 bios version both Frequency max and Precission Boost limit reports also 4450 Mhz as a max frequency. While previously on 1.10 it was 4350 Mhz and 4450 Mhz respectively. And i suspect that it had to do something with the audio. While the crackling sound mostly appeared while opening single but heavy program. Sometimes making YT video to stutter while playing it in the background. Edit: also do note that in BIOS 1.08 while using HWInfo processor reports Watt package for Sustained Power Limit - 54 Watt , for Boost Power Limit - 65 Watt. Some third party sites do report that it can suck up to 80 Watts of power from the mainboard. However i doubt that VRM's in that machine can withstand such a torture! I am not willing to test that out and toast the APU. But it is tempting! 🙂

Yes and no. Universal X86 Tuning Utility provides options for the CPU. The way it's used in this video just applies different temperature and wattage limits to the CPU. Like mentioned in the video this can free up thermal and power headroom for the GPU, allowing it to boost higher for longer. Newer versions of UXTU allow you to change the GPU voltage curve similar to MSI Afterburner. That should increase GPU performance if done correctly. I prefer to use Afterburner myself though. Note that there are AMD mobile CPUs that can use the Curve Optimizer which is an undervolt for the CPU.

3:45 who are you trying to fool here? I see lower clockspeeds than at the beginning. Not by much, by like 100-150 Mhz but that's still not undervolting, that's underCLOCKING.
Tried to use for 6800u
So before. Power usage - 25 wat
After 17
Frequency down from 2800 to 2400mhz
Temp from 85 to 68
Cibench performance test:
from 9075 points to 7619.
So basically, under volt - true
underclock - true. That did temp much lower. But also lost in a performance.
Forgot to add.
I had also Power/balance/whisper mode at my Asus app.
This settings also take affect on the results.
Thanks for the report! I’d recommend you remove the other software you’re using, set the laptop on max performance and then apply the “balanced” option as in the tutorial, for better results!
@@ImWateringPSUs originally I did that under Performance mode setting for pc. Results in first comment when applying Balance setting.

This program has a virus. is this HackTool.VulnDriver!1.D7DD (CLASSIC) and I don't thank you like the ones below
@@ImWateringPSUs Technically not. Definition of undervolting is running at same frequency with lower voltage.

Can you show me your settings? I have the same CPU and I'm looking to undervolt but don't want to mess with untested settings

Amd curve optimiser > all core offset between -25 and -30, it depends on eachone cpus as cpu arent identical for everyone
if you want to you can measure which of your cores is working hard in gaming and set the amd curve optimiser lower or higher for each core, but i personally prefer not to play with that
25% Boost of $0.5 investment? Easy. Put 2 eraser under back of your laptop. Actually many laptop designs with limited cooling capacities very strongly benefit from any improvement in cooling. So getting your fans turn faster or making airflow better can really boost your performance. As I said I got 25% in multicore Cinebench test with two erasers under laptop and a bit lower temperature in my room.
That’s definitely true! Both lifting the laptop and getting a fan under it work wonders!
That's not undervolting lol.
The idea of undervolting is decreasing voltage using the same frequency. Here we just limit the performance of the laptop by limiting TDP. You lose performance.
So basically you installed a program to change the Power plan, which is also just FN+Q for Lenovo Legion 5 Pro.
It doesn not just act on the power plan! Give it a shot
Is there any danger in limiting the temprature maximum?
My laptop does not go below 98 degrees when I put it in "balances" mode and the worst thing is that yours reaches 5700 when you're doing the stress test and mine is hard to reach 5100, what could I do? I need help please.
Unfortunately it means you’re thermal throttling hard. You need to do a full repaste and repad
Please, change the name of this video and say that you can only limit temperature or power limits with 5000H/6000H series. The processors are locked and don't allow for UV. You should strive for proper and checked information!
This actually works on the curve!
I agree 100%
My laptop automatically limits the temperature to 91 degrees. (I Just downloaded it a few minutes ago) with balance mode it gets even hotter xD The only helpful way for me is to disable the Cpu turbo in windows and running at stock 3,27ghz
Oh wow, you have some serious thermal issues there😅 Have you looked into repasting it?

The GPU needs to be throttling in a laptop for it to matter how much power a CPU consumes, because in most laptops it's the CPU that throttles, not GPU.

Using Ryzen controller you simply limit the TDP. Try out the method in the video, it really works!
@@ImWateringPSUsit's also just limiting TDP. I checked temps and performance. All of these presets are just for limiting TDP.
Balanced limits CPU TDP to 55W slow and 65W fast. That's why the temps reduce under the stress test. But in gaming you will see no difference if your TDP is under 55W. Try benchmarking with this "undervolting" and you will have less scores.

I tried using the balanced mode with no change to temps. is there a way to manually set a cpu voltage offset with this software or is there something like that in hp omen 15 bios? (using 3070 with ryzen 7 5800H)
Unfortunately there is no way to manually set it, however it’s very weird that you noticed no change in temperature, did you get an increase in performance though?
@@ImWateringPSUs I actually noticed in the overclock settings there was an option to alter the CPU VID, which matched my voltage so I lowered it -100mV and it’s been working wonders. If you have Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 with Ryzen 7 5800H - and on that machine got Realtek HD Audio + DTS:X Sound, by any chance - and you experience CRACKLING SOUND issues or STUTTERING/TEARING mouse cursor while opening a program in Windows, than just downgrade this machine BIOS version from 1.10 back to 1.08 . There is also a video here on yt how to downgrade bios on Acer laptops.
Also don't use MTK WiFi card. Mine was toasted due to high temps and i had to buy AX200 - which is awesome now - WiFi 6 (Gig+). Haha!
Very good advice! Thanks a lot man :)
Honestly i think they messed something in BIOS v 1.10. When i had the 1.10 bios version - max noted core voltage by me was 1.36 V.
That's not undervolting, that's multiplier limiting!! You can do that with good old throttle stop with 2 clicks and would reduce performance in every single real world senario expect that you have absolute oven hitting 100 C with relatively low loads like gaming. You have no idea what you are talking about or misleading on purpose...
It is not just a multiplier limiter! It actually works on the curve, you really couldn’t do the same by setting a static multi. I really do recommend you check it out on a Ryzen 5000/6000 laptop if you have it available!
