@@juliagasparwellness oooh I loved Guatape! Took a day trip and honestly felt like I was in a small coastal town (: Super colorful and the food was amazing! Are you setting up shop there or just visiting?
I spent most of my time in Laureles and El Poblado. My intention wasn't only to show impoverished areas, I used a clip over those communities to show the size of the city not the inhabitants .
Colombia is "western" and its generally only the US that is obsessed by consumerism & $$, you dont need money to be happy when you have family, community & culture. Yes, there is some extreme poverty in Medellin, ironically mostly people having to beg in rich areas like Poblado rather than those living in "poorer areas" with a roof over there head. Thats why poverty in the US is so much demeaning than in other cultures.
I’ve definitely witnessed the contentment levels are different in countries outside of the U.S. surprisingly, I don’t think it’s constricted just to western influenced countries, places like Italy and France, especially in smaller towns, I think radiate a similar level of happiness as those in South America.
@@yemanemelen agreed. That's why I don't use the term "western" it is outdated (arising from the Cold War period along with similarly outdated "third world" and smacks of unfounded superiority with racial & colonial style undertones, which too are outdated. Colombia is a fantastic country that does so many things much better than the USA (other than national politics in which they are both messed up!). Viva Colombia 🇨🇴 🙂

You in your video only shows the slums. Did you spend your all time over there? We don’t think so.
