when i was about 15, me and my family went to indonesia for the holidays, and i nagged until my mom promised we are going to visit komodo. When we went we first did the tourist tour, which was very boring, because all we did was went up some hills into a fenced enclosure and some komodo dragons where sleeping outside the fence.
What was a lot more exciting the next day, when we had breakfast, some komodo dragons walked around the breakfast place. Some of the locals where throwing their boots (not at the dragons, but so the dragons react to the sudden movement). We took that as a good reason to make some great pictures. In hindsight it was probably the most dangerous thing i ever did, since it was fully grown komodo dragons full of energy, especially my brother who was about 10 could have seen as prey, but we felt save with the locals around, and luckily nothing happened. Still one of the best moments in my life. Thanks for remembering this.

Your property would be perfect as would be your enthusiasm, knowledge and reptile abilities! And of course slinky gets to have two fine examples of his bigger cousins!

I’m sure you know that once a buffalo is bitten by a Komodo, the Komodo leaves the injured buffalo alone, as it doesn’t want to get trampled or gored, and so follows the buffalo from a safe distance. Not only the original Komodo follows, all the Komodos who get the scent of a supporting wound, start following. They follow till the buffalo can travel no more, and sits down, helpless.
That is when all the Komodo’s attack from the back (from which side they are safe), and start eating the buffalo alive. Buffaloes have been known to stay alive for hours while still being eaten alive.

You should get a Komodo Dragon at Camp because they can swim and climb trees and could run on their legs and dig holes to find food and they could use their tails as weapons and they could have poison and their from Komodo inland that probably how they got their name of Komodo Dragon .

I had no idea how big these lizards got, 300 pounds ?. So it can easily eat, me ?. I honestly do not remember them being this big, but wow.
The biggest reptile I ever saw was at a place in Cancun, Poncho and Willy's, those are the names of two "famous" crocs in the lagoon, 14-15 feet long. They don't do this anymore, but at one time you could feed a Croc like that, about 20-25 years ago. We got to feed him a red snapper on this rickety old dock, it was like a seating area for customers. I think he could have lashed out and broken the entire dock, everyone was just sure he would never do that, like he was a tame Croc or something. Something seemed very miscalculated about that whole situation, It was quite freaky being that close, I will never forget that baby dinosaur.
Do Crocs this big go under people's docks in Florida, there's not many ?. I think they need to be at least made of metal, the one I was on years ago seemed much too weak and barely sensible. What if another croc came, they started fighting right there ?. I dunno. People did a lot of dumb things back then, like smoking in airports. He was like 5 feet from the dock, head at least 40 inches long, just a massive powerful dinosaur waiting to munch on some dumb tourists like me, waiting for me to get drunk and slip off the dock in my flip flops, fully aware of Murphy's law.

In the 17th minute, the Komodo was not trying to push a large piece of meat down its throat, the piece was small, but had fur attached to the meat. The dragon didn’t want to ingest anymore fur. So first it tried to shake away the fur (but it was too light). Then the dragon tried to rub the fur away against the mesh, and that is the part you noticed in between your talking.

I got you Kenan. There are between 50 - 80 types of bacteria with pathogenic properties in the mouth of the Komodo Dragon. The ones with simple, minimal nutritional needs and versatile metabolisms in anaerobic conditions grow the fastest, particularly two: Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pasteurella multocida. The bacteria form colonies on the surface of it’s teeth via fimbrial adherence as a means of maintaining homeostasis and resisting phagocytic and antimicrobial elements, pH changes, and fluctuations in temperature. The actual type and number vary with location and diet. The lizards’ exposure to these pathogens for generations have enabled them to evolve antibodies and immunologic components to render the bacteria harmless to the lizards themselves.
There, now show us your nictitating membrane... 😂
