You did a wonderful thing in rescuing Rosie. She is clearly loving her life and your family.
I had two cats that I rescued also. They would always try to get outside. So 1 day I let them stay outside. They were much happier. Came in often for cuddles and naps but then went back outside. They lived for 7 and the other for 9. They lived happy lives and brought us great joy. No regrets
If you're by a busy street it's very dangerous to let them out. I had cats hit by cars and die due to them being chased into the street by another cas. I would highly recommend you build a catio or enclose an outside space for her. She is adorable. Also typical lifespans for outside cats is 2-3 years.
She is outside sometimes and inside sometimes. She does prefer to be inside, just goes to the bathroom outside :)
sorry but i know you love her and thank you for helping her BUt to take her and make her again an outside cat, boggles my mind. a Litter box is no big deal if scooped as soon as you see something in there and it takes seconds to do. i hope you change your mind for her safety and long life inside. and inside is exciting as the humans make it by interacting with them when you get home. I wish Rosie a long life
Yeah, seeing the cat run out into the street is a little concerning. There are reasons that outdoor cats have significantly shorter lifespans than indoor cats. Perhaps I'm wrong, but the video makes it seem that, after taking care of the cat for a while, she decided it was too much hassle to have an indoor cat and decided it would be an outdoor cat. The litterbox being the dealbreaker.
I would say she is both indoor and outdoor! She comes and goes as she pleases, but we don't have a litterbox. I would say her favorite place is on the bed, next to the dog :)
Rosie will always be a part of our family, she just took a long time to get used to being outside since she was in the bathroom for so long! She goes in and out as she wishes.
Awwww....ROSIE is such a beautiful Kitty❣What a Treasure your kind Hubby found. Poor Baby for being isolated for a month after being spayed. I have rescued-spayed/neutered-homed 30 cats & found homes for most & never had one having an allergic reaction to the sutures (female cats). ROSIE is as Precious as your Family. Thank you for giving her a loving, forever home together with her Fur-Siblings. Know that you are a Great Kitty MOM❣
Thank you so much for saying that! I didn't know what happened and was so scared at that late night vet visit. She got lots of attention even if she had to stay in the bathroom.
That is so awesome that you and your family took in that adorable little thing. Last June, the hubby and I took in 2 ten week old kittens from a near by Humane Society. Best decision we could have ever made. One was a Tabby and the other turned out to be a hidden Calico. The hidden Calico's fur ended up being more silvery than a normal Tabby with orange spots hidden underneath. These two are a hoot and a half when playing. Cheers to many years ahead to the quirks of with your feline friend.
I love it! Having 2 little kitties at once would be impossible for me, I could barely handle one of them! I'm sure they love having a friend
Rehome your kitty if you can't make her an indoor cat. Your letting her out is a death sentence. Not good.
I can tell this is a passionate topic for a lot of people, and I appreciate your comment. She is inside a lot and outside too, especially because she goes to the bathroom outside. Her favorite place is on her bed inside :)
