Great Concept Explanation Sir! Solely teaches working on a team rather than stressing on individuals! Understanding the limitations, Identifying the bottleneck and working on it so that overall capacity of team can be optimized instead of adding extra nonprofitable particulars can be learnt. Instead of replacing or adding entire pieces of facilities, rearranging it to better match the needs of the facility. Thank you.

Thank you, Dr. G, One thing I have learned while studying about Toyota's Assembly line is that they would try to put bottleneck at the start of the assembly line. Synchronisation and allocation of idle resources is the key. And its a great example of how the paretos principle works.

We have been applying these concepts in our daily lives a lot without even actually knowing the scientific explanation behind before performing this experiment . Truely the best possible way to achieve highest efficiency in minimum time and cost . - SOHINI SENGUPTA

In our college canteen, usually during the lunch hour, a bottleneck is created at the cash counter where a huge group is formed because there is only 1 cashier at the counter, whereas at the kitchen counter, the quick preparation and serving of food by multiple people ensures that it is served quickly almost always. This bottle neck at cash counter could be removed by moving one staff member from the kitchen to the counter during peak hours🙂 redistribution of work!

It's a great video Sir. As this experiment is conducted by you in the class and here watching it again makes me understand the concept of de-bottlenecking more clearly. In the corporate world it generally happens that by adding resources they always tries to improve upon the quality but eventually it also increases the cost. But, firstly, by identifying the bottleneck and rectifying it the efficiency can be increased with the existing resources.

The sole reason we fail to identify the bottleneck or address the issues pertaining to bottleneck is when we start concentrating on individual’s efficiency. But yet again, this video teaches and showcases how we can minimise the cycle and even throughput time with the help of a bottleneck! Either work with the bottleneck’s speed or everyone become a bottleneck. An important lesson in operations is to synchronize the work.

Thank you Dr G and team for explaining the concept in the simplest form as it can be.
What icould understand from this is that the concept has been greatly implemented in the unorganized sector of economy
Like for example any franchise of vadapav vendor ...few years back customers were supposed to pay and then take vadapav from a single person at the counter even though other resources were available and were idle.
This resulted in massive crowd around a single point of contact
As of now there is a seperate person collecting a cash and seperate person to handover the product to customer and both of them work in synchronization with each other.
Another scenario what i could think of is that this concept must definitely be implemented in passport offices
Because out of the 2/3 sections in passport office that i have been through there is one section which has a large queue with a single point of contact and is the actual bottleneck in the entire process

All the points demonstrated in the video are true. They indeed increase the output.
I have experienced this in my previous work place. My manager had distributed the work among all 5 team members on the day of our joining the project. But, somehow it took each one of us long durations to finish the assigned work. It was then that he realised the bottleneck(not all the members had same level of expertise in a given task) for low efficiency. He eventually found out the strengths of each member and assigned the work in their area of expertise. This lead to faster and error proof smooth work, increased the productivity, met the deadlines perfectly and in turn the team had a happy work atmosphere.
This reanalysis and redistribution of work (like shown in video) helped us a lot to progress as a team.
Similarly this can be applicable for any team work. As identifying the bottleneck, working in sync with bottleneck and the redistribution of work will make it more productive.
    Thank you :)

Very effective example what is bottlenecking and how we can reduce it. Sometimes we feel that increasing efficiency is the only way to achieve maximum output. But this video as well the class activity really opened my mind about what we are doing till now was just because of our preconceived notions that we can achieve maximum results ONLY fastening the process! Thanks a lot sir! :)

This practically explains how tasks can be synchronized to reduce WIPs and to increase output, avoiding bottlenecks in a process.

Hello sir, I realised that if we do this on our roads and synchronize our speeds to the car ahead of us we can make the roads so safe and it will definitely prevent severe jams due to lane cutting and over taking and in turn reduce travel time. Had so much fun learning this principle with the exercise today! Thanks to you and your team

Sir, this was one of my favourite sessions in class. It was even better when we had to choose our own activity to understand the bottleneck. The whole concept is explained very well. It was understood even better with the corridor activity.. that you cannot completely eliminate the bottleneck but you can synch other activitues to increase output. Thank you

Synchronize - Identify Constraints - Remove Constraints (by adding or redistributing resources) - Resynchronize it. And voila you have smooth running operations. Very well explained sir. Kudos to Dr. G and Team.

Operations could be simple if we identify bottleneck and would improve the time constraints.
Hence by synchronizing the bottleneck with other sections can deduce throughput time.
Simple technique can be implemented in daily activities if we give a thought to it !!!
Thank you Dr.G and team for video ☺

It is very important to identify a bottleneck in a process which has a series of operations because the efficiency of bottleneck decides the speed and efficiency of the entire process.
Also synchronisation of other operations with bottleneck is important as there is no WIP because of it.
Focus should be on improving bottleneck's efficiency rather than focusing on individual efficiency of other operations.
Debottlenecking reduces the overall process time and it also reduces the time taken by an individual item to go through the series of operations.

Thank you sir for the video. The concept of Synchronizing & Debottlenecking is explained in its best way. It helped me to understand that synchronizing the stations with bottleneck station helps to reduce the throughput time and also reduces WIP. Further to this when the workload of the bottleneck station is distributed with the one having comparatively less workload helps to increase the productivity without adding any extra cost to the overall production process. Once again thank you Sir and all the students for their outstanding efforts to make us understand this concept.
