Thank you for covering this, and I have to admit I was worried for you, and imagining your parents giving you lectures for putting your safety at risk. But it's fascinating and sad to see how big an impact the hurricane has had. It's a shame that it sometimes takes loss to bring communities together, almost like it brings humans back to their roots. Appreciate you 😊

@Anonymousones1 do I want to do what they do? No. Do I respect what they do, and understand that what they do is necessary? Yes. Not everyone should do what Reed does. But then, most folks *can't * do what he does.
@@Anonymousones1Reed Timmer has a PhD in meteorology and does these storm chases to collect vital, lifesaving data and showing the rest of us what these storms can do. Some people won’t take weather forecasts seriously unless they see, first hand, what these storms can do. In your video it showsFEMA supplies @28:38 just because you didn’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t doing anything. I’m a Katrina survivor and know all the efforts made to get supplies and relief as soon as possible to the affected areas
Of course they are going to be there. But where is there? How many places, how much is the effort? And how much effort are they making to keep people from helping other people. A lot of questions, and it seems many people who are actually there are angry. And then of course you have 750$ Per family, IF they qualify, and IF they can get online to fill out a form. It's a joke. But we can foot the tax bill to send billions to other countries for their wars, right? Give me a break.
Yep FEMA isn't perfect but they absolutely have been responding to this. I'm in East TN. They are here and have been doing life saving work. This narrative that people are trying so hard to push that FEMA hasn't been here at all is strange. Unfortunately looks like a lot of people are taking advantage of this disaster as an opportunity to sow mistrust in FEMA, and by extension the current administration, for political gain. So now we have disaster victims afraid to take the $750 emergency grant because they believe they'll have to repay it with interest due to misinformation being spread, or they don't access FEMA supply resources that they're entitled to because they've been told they aren't available so they don't even try. I think Reed's a good dude and his heart is usually in the right place but it is weird to see him repeatedly pushing this anti FEMA messaging this week. Especially as he's literally showing piles of FEMA supplies as he's claiming they haven't had a presence there. And the "I haven't seen a representative yet" while failing to mention that he was only in NC for one day, a week after the disaster. (To clarify, I'm not hating on him for not being there more, I know he was having logistical issues with aquiring a vehicle and figuring out travel with a dog that's very old and not in the best of health so I'm not judging him for that at all. I just think he should have been upfront about that when he was claiming he hasn't seen FEMA presence though.)
Watching this as a national guard member who got put in Fort Meyers for hurricane relief I'm bout to get this experience personally lol Edit: I also wanna say that anyone here that isn't military personnel or helping in any other way with recovery to get the heck out of here!
