Now, I don't particularlyt like watching videos of things created by CNC, because I want to see things that I can do, not what someone else can do with tools that I can't afford. That's the most common gripe with CNC use in video projects. Aside from that, this is brilliant work. I love what you've made.

There's this speaker company called Vandersteen that does linen wrapped speakers that have similar proportions to the Xbox. They used posts at the corners and wrap translucent black linen around them so you can see the inside of the speakers at the right angles. I think that would have been a nice halfway point between clear acrylic and the white linen covered sides.

The way that he attempted to get retroarch on the Xbox was with retail mode, you are supposed to only be able to do so with dev mode but there is a group of people who take the dev mode apps and upload them to the retail mode store and allow normal people to download them and as you can figure out, Microsoft doesn't like this too much so they remove the apps and even ban the accounts from making apps, so to have it in retail mode you will need to join the discord server because that's the only way they can quickly notify you that the retail mode apps are up, there is no adfly or linkvertise links that you have to watch ads to get to the apps, it's just the best way to get the apps with Microsoft pushing hard against the apps.
Your link to the DEV mode hard part is just to a LTT video and they don't really get into how it was done. Would be nice to see a video of step by step like the easy mode was so that we can all do it. Hopefully you can put that together.
I just wanted to come back and let everyone know that the easy tutorial that you have linked does work, it just adds a few extra steps. when you go to his website, instead of the app link being there, is is a link to his discord. when you go there, you can quickly find the app and then download it and continue on with the tutorial. I did it and took me about 20 min to get done and now I am playing N64 games on my xbox. super sweet.
Everything you make looks so good, you have a great eye when making things aesthetically pleasing, so I can't understand how you can possibly think the Xbox looks better than the PlayStation in any way 😂
But man, in the end of the video you were in retail mode, and the retroarch app was there. You said that you used de hard way (with the dev mode). There's a way to put the Retroarch of the dev mode in the retail mode of the console?
I love the builds totally awesome. I'd also like to advice that when using a saw machine try using a long piece of wood to guide your work through the cut instead of using your hands. Again Love your work.
Nice build. It still wouldn't be able to play most of the XBox 360 racing games that I want to play, including all of the XBox 360 Project Gotham Racing and Forza Motorsport titles, but that's due to Microsoft's half-assed backwards compatibility support on XBox Series X and not any problems with your craftmanship.
How feasible would it be to add air filtration to this and have it double as an air purifier? Seems like it would protect the inner working from dust ingress while adding a bit of multifuntionality. Just a thought, really digging these projects.
Hey Zac, in one of your videos you refer to a CAD modelling software. I want to try one and stick to it. and for the life of me I can't find that video. can you / the folks help me?
I do recommend putting like a mesh screen or something better on the vent holes on top to avoid dust or debris from getting inside the console, but nonetheless kudos for the awesome job
So you made a replacement xbox shell, in the shape of the original shell? I mean, nice build but it seems a little redundant when, as you say, it's a good looking console as it is?
Awesome stuff ! I'm not a woodworking guy, but this is cool. An idea is to have a hybrid box that have both Xbox and ITX PC build for ultimate gaming station. On a side note, I opted for just using Moonlight on Xbox to stream emulated games from PC rather than the hassle to having it on the Xbox itself. Much more powerful for those PS3 games and of course Switch.
I love the design! But it looks like the low height of the feet could actually choke the fan and hurt the airflow. Most console designs suffer from choking fans which is one of the reasons they are getting so loud under load. Some additional spacing to raise the console should prevent that. For example some rubber feet :)
That looks absolutely amazing if a blue print on how to I would love to make one out of Oak or Birch, I'm only good at following directions if that is ok with you

It really is, and I'm having a blast learning how to do it haha. Thank you for the kind words. I havent started on the PS5 just yet, I'm still brainstorming some designs. But believe me it's on my radar.
question, will emulating on your xbox like this get your account banned even if you have to pay the $20 because that would be the only thing blocking me from doing this to my xbox. i have soooooo many digital games that xbox gamepass is just obsolete to me but if i got my account banned it would be over between me and xbox
how much would you want if i had you make a 1 to 1 PC tower model out of oak? Would be much easier than that Series X, just instead of gluing everything uses screws for detachment.
That's awesome you made your design open source and linked all the products used.

Everything you make looks so good, you have a great eye when making things aesthetically pleasing, so I can't understand how you can possibly think the Xbox looks better than the PlayStation in any way 😂
flintstones ahh pc☠
But man, in the end of the video you were in retail mode, and the retroarch app was there. You said that you used de hard way (with the dev mode). There's a way to put the Retroarch of the dev mode in the retail mode of the console?
I love the builds totally awesome. I'd also like to advice that when using a saw machine try using a long piece of wood to guide your work through the cut instead of using your hands. Again Love your work.
Do you market your everything console? I've been wanting to build one but your wood case designs are just so sleek.
Great case design Mr. Zac, Microsoft may offer you a contract to design all the Xbox case. that is dynamic and great detail in your wood crafting.
Nice job, and the nice thing is that if you don't want to void the waranty, you can always replicate this as an outer shell 👍
I think a case heatsink that would make it smaller thinner will be ideal with a smaller fan.
you forgot the hole on side of top cooling part. its for safety if someone puts stuff on top of it.
This is absolutely awesome! But how do you pair new controllers...? I'm pretty sure the button is on that USB daughter board.
What multi tool did you use to take apart the Xbox? I’d love to get my hands on that set.
Keep a Fire extinguisher Handy. It might get A bit Hotter than normal xbox. Wood/ Linen/ Spray glue. = fire. But a very enjoyable video
I do recommend putting like a mesh screen or something better on the vent holes on top to avoid dust or debris from getting inside the console, but nonetheless kudos for the awesome job
Always love your builds. I'd love to see thos side in purple acrylic! haha
I'd like to see some stats on the actual thermals. I bet it heats up pretty quickly and doesn't stay cool.
Both fans are fighting each other
How about a TRI Ooze canister for an X-Box case? Or, maybe make it in a Jaguar/Panther case, or maybe an Atari 2600/7800 style case?
So you made a replacement xbox shell, in the shape of the original shell? I mean, nice build but it seems a little redundant when, as you say, it's a good looking console as it is?
Awesome stuff ! I'm not a woodworking guy, but this is cool. An idea is to have a hybrid box that have both Xbox and ITX PC build for ultimate gaming station.
On a side note, I opted for just using Moonlight on Xbox to stream emulated games from PC rather than the hassle to having it on the Xbox itself. Much more powerful for those PS3 games and of course Switch.
Basically, you're calling their cases crap. Well done 👍🏻
Awesome video!! Subscribed ant notifications are turned on
Love you for that 😘
Have you noticed issues with your glue holding considering the heat the system puts out? I'd be concerned the glue could dry out then split.
Was not a fan initially, but it looks great with your own setup. Awesome work.
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks Oscar!
It looks great in your living room. More tech should be encased in authentic materials that fit in a cozy home decor
I love the design! But it looks like the low height of the feet could actually choke the fan and hurt the airflow. Most console designs suffer from choking fans which is one of the reasons they are getting so loud under load. Some additional spacing to raise the console should prevent that. For example some rubber feet :)
You gav me a heart attack at 6:44
Great job man! Turned out great :)
Stupid cool! Good job! Love your videos Zac! 👊👍
Did you put fabric in to protect the discs going in and out?
Question: the case does often aid in transferring heat away from the unit. Might there be the risk of heat pockets?
Cool build it looks very clean
Thanks!
Good job on the design and especially on putting all the right inside parts in!
@zac_Builds I know this is a scam
That looks absolutely amazing if a blue print on how to I would love to make one out of Oak or Birch, I'm only good at following directions if that is ok with you
iF I hAD a cNc i CouLD mAke ThiS tOO!! j/k, CNC'ing is an entirely different skillset. This tuned out great and matches you the rest of your setup soooo nicely. Walnut PS5 when?
It really is, and I'm having a blast learning how to do it haha. Thank you for the kind words. I havent started on the PS5 just yet, I'm still brainstorming some designs. But believe me it's on my radar.
My only gripe would be to put air vents in the side boards under the linen wrap to just take advantage of more airflow and cooling
Looks great, but what about the sync button for the controllers?
Your video might just inspire me to learn woodworking!
It is a very cool project but I was wondering how will you sync new controllers?
The usb ports on the back, just plug them in and they're good to go.
You did great but forgot about the usb on the front and the controller pairing button
question, will emulating on your xbox like this get your account banned even if you have to pay the $20 because that would be the only thing blocking me from doing this to my xbox. i have soooooo many digital games that xbox gamepass is just obsolete to me but if i got my account banned it would be over between me and xbox
May I ask what type of sound system is next to your monitor?
how much would you want if i had you make a 1 to 1 PC tower model out of oak? Would be much easier than that Series X, just instead of gluing everything uses screws for detachment.
