Thanks for the video. I've always dreamed of riding around Montana. Maybe one day, but I'm in another country, so that complicates things a bit :) I think you could have made it past the snow, but I can see you had stock tires on so it may have got a little squirrely. You have each other to help out so that gives you a big advantage taking chances out in the wild.

I *love* Chinese food, that all looked so good! Haha I'm pretty sure you've shown that place in a video before and I thought the same, but I really like the little separated 'booth rooms' they have - I'm sure it would be even louder in there without them lol. PS I've still never seen a moose, I'm jealous.

Loving this series! Sorry I missed the premier, I was out riding. It's 70F in Montana and that's not too common in October so had to take advantage of it. I love Butte and all it's history and Cornish pasties are the best. The sibling dynamic you have with Gary is very cool, it reminds me of the relationship I have with my siblings, just wish we could do it more often. Maybe next year I'll try to organize a sibling's campout. 😊

Note to self ... slow travel has it's advantage in ... you get to see stuff, duh!!!! Last time I was down that way I was on a twisty road hunt. It was successful. However, I certainly missed out on a lot of neat places. I guess that means there's a second time through. 🤟

About 10 years ago, after refueling, I saw a little pool of antifreeze under my 2005 Burgman 650, they don't have a lot of coolant in them. Went to a dealer in Butte to have them replace the water pump (I traced the leak back to it). Yeah, they have awesome buildings there, and they remind me of Dubuque, Iowa. You rolling into a campground as the sunsets seems early to me, as most of my stories start with, "I got to the campground after dark..." A lot of the times I've been riding through a hot day, so when the sun drops low in the sky, the temperature drops, and I get re-energized. At that point it feels like a new ride and I don't want to stop. It's been that way for the last 45 years of riding.

I've ridden it numerous times on my bicycle and motorcycle and there's a plethora of camping along the Route. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to hit the ghost town of Bannock, the first territorial capital of Montana. Safe travels from a new subscriber!

That section between Helena and Basin can be pretty interesting, especially depending on the route you choose. Even dry it can be rough for a bigger dual sport or ADV. I live in SW MT and finally covered the MT part of the Continental Divide Trail this summer over a couple long weekends and it was absolutely gorgeous, especially coupled with some beautiful bits from the classic Best of Montana tracks on ADVrider. Looking forward to Rocky Mountain Roll 2023!

Ooh an end screen crew question I can give a very Australian answer to:
Once witnessed a pair of cockatoos completely losing it at a goanna. It took us a while to realise the "cockies" (yep, we really call them that) were nesting and they were protecting their eggs and trying to stop the monitor lizard climbing their tree. Cockatoos have one of the screechiest awful bird calls so this was CRAZY loud. The lizard gave up pretty quickly - but a quiet campsite it was not!

Best animal encounter was just a couple of weeks ago, in Kaibab National Forest just outside the Grand Canyon. A herd of elk wandered right past my camp. But the last one, a bull with a broken antler, stopped, walked right over, and drank from a puddle right in front of my van! I pulled back my cat (he wanted to be friends 🤣) and put my bike between us, so if he charged he’d have to get through a KLR which is no mean feat. 😊 But he wasn’t at all aggressive, just drank, watched us watching him, then rejoined his herd. Amazing.

Great ideo as always Amanda. I like your brother's narrating voice. Thanks for adding that in! Regarding cool aimal encounters along the road, moose, dear, badgers and hares are pretty commin here in Sweden. I think it would be pretty spectacular to see a giraffe, elephant, or lion cross the tarmac, but we don't have them here. Cool animals I spotted, and actually managed to pick up to show the camera, are snakes and lizzardes. One in particularly memorable was the slow worm I cuddled with for a moment in my last episode of "Gravel & Bivvies".

Best animal entertainment? That would have to be the time when our neighbor at the camp site had a dog, a small terrier of mixed breeds, that would chase all the birds, then run like a scared little thing when the bird would chase back. A lot of attitude packed into a very small dog.

I'm from a Manchester (UK) coal mining town, There was loads of deaths locally with cave-ins etc but it's been 30 years since the last mine closed so the remnants are slowly fading.
Slightly off topic but you might like to know... There's a status in Manchester of Abraham Lincoln, there was a booming cotton trade between the US and the UK during the Civil war, Lincoln was said to have remarked of the child factory workers in Manchester; The only difference between slaves and child labour is one has papers and the other doesn't. He did alot for the awareness of child labour in the UK specifically in my part of the world. Hope you found this interesting :)
