  • So, today we are out and about walking once more in the Cotswold village of Stanton which is located in Gloucestershire and around 2.5 miles southwest of Broadway (Broadway is Stanton's postal town). It has a population of approximately 200.

    Thanks for walking with me.

A most wonderful walk through the perfect village of Stanton! It must be my lucky week, after that amazing walk through the Ancient Woodland, now you walk through 'my' village. I love this place so very much, I got teary eyed looking at the beauty of it. I know that sounds weird maybe, but it`s so special to me. Thank you for this walk, I know I will be watching this over and over and over.. 😃

Hi Eva. I know you are one hour ahead of me, so hope I am not disturbing you as time is getting on now! This is the first chance I have had to respond to today’s comments. Anyway thank you ever so much for your lovely comment. Whenever I think of Stanton I automatically think of you! We still need a rainy night walk here, so fingers crossed it can be achieved before this year is out.
By the way, I may well be posting a video on Thursday which I would advise you give it a miss, as I would not want to cause you any unnecessary distress. Also, when I posted the ‘Lacock video’ last week I completely forgot to add the timestamps for you and it was not until 1 - 2 hours after the video being published that I remembered, so at that point I immediately updated the description! Sorry about that.
Hope you have a good day tomorrow (although it is now probably tomorrow for you already!)

@@OutandaboutWalking Thank you for the kind words! Yes, a rainy night and maybe at some point a snowy day, although that must be very rare in that area. I am intrigued now about the video I should give a miss, but I think I know why 😉 If it is what I think, then yes, I will give it a miss, thank you for the warning.
I noticed there were no time stamps on the Lacock video, but there is no need to apologize. I still skipped the cemetery and the village is stunning!
Again, thank you for this amazing video of Stanton, i love it dearly.

Truly, some of the most beautiful homes we have seen to date, with an over abundance of beautiful light fixtures and architectural styles that span the centuries. And the reference to the WW1 War Memorial-a war that touched practically every British family.
Did the wall fountains you showed have any practical purpose or when in use were they purely decorative?

I hope you can bear with me saying that yet another video now joins my “favorites” list, because this does (again). You have shown my absolute favorite time of the day: the last vestiges of night are disappearing and the new day is dawning, heralded by a delightful chorus of birds. It is indeed magical- something I always watch with wonder, as it never grows old. Thank you for getting up early enough to let us experience this in the village of Stanton. As always, I enjoyed your attention to detail- plant life; the textures of wood, stone; the commemorative plaque, etc.- as well as the larger pictures of the landscape. It was pleasantly suspenseful to hear the lovely sound of flowing water around 24 minutes in but then not see from whence that sound originated for 2 more minutes! That is such a neat sound! Your walk was appreciated!
    P. S. Just have wondered if in the UK you were able to catch film footage of the eclipse that certain areas of the US recently experienced? We live in an area that viewed totality and it was truly amazing! Our family stood in the front yard and basically watched the entire process of twilight to midnight and back to the dawn of day in the span of four minutes! We will never forget it! (You would have made a great video of it if you had been over here). :)

    • @OutandaboutWalking
      @OutandaboutWalking  28 дней назад

Hi Janet. The simple fact is that one can never have to many favourites. I still have more unpublished walks that may qualify to be homed inside your favourites list :). Sometimes the walks may be at least a few months old or more before they get aired. I actually have a video that I recorded in early December but I don’t plan to publish until towards the end of this June.
There is indeed something magical & special during that time of transition from night to day which is greatly reinforced by the sound of the wildlife.
Just out of interest…do you use headphones at all for these walks, only I ask this as I record the audio separately with two binaural microphones, which is very immersive when listened to through headphones or earbuds (sorry if I have asked this previously).
I believe we only had a partial eclipse here which was not visible due to weather conditions. I have experienced a totality eclipse once before which if I remember correctly was around midday, it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. The awesomeness of our solar system always blows my mind whenever I think about it.
Many thanks for your time once more on another walk, Janet.
      Have a good Tuesday.

      @@OutandaboutWalking
I tend to agree with your philosophy of never having too many favorites! Because there are various appealing aspects to each walk, different things resonate with people about each one. You had asked before about the headphones, but I am very glad that you reminded me by asking again, as I had not thought about that in a while. I have listened to a few walks that way and what a difference it made! Save for not getting mud on my shoes, I could have sworn that I was literally walking there, as well! I am glad that your equipment allows you to record that way. That’s neat that you also once experienced a total eclipse; it truly is mind boggling, and makes one just stand there gazing in quiet awe at what is happening! Our weather in general was not cooperative that day (cloudy) but around the time of the total eclipse, the sun did peek out- just in time for us to watch the moon overshadow it. It is certainly (for most of us) a once in a lifetime experience! :)
      Have a great week!

I must add a warranted compliment here, your closeups is sooo grand & different, tis 1 thing to display scapes but to delve into fine details adds such wonderment, hominess and personifies the residents! Ach, ooops, afraid me muddy boots imprinted treadmarks whenst crushing 🚶, regrets and apologies.
