    鐘の音と雨音、そして鳥の鳴き声、素敵な朝の始まりですね👏✨
    WORLD GARDEN

My dear friend, your videos always bring into brilliant clarity the important things in our world: The sound of birds, the picture of raindrops making circles in puddles, the view of a village before it awakens, a chance to appreciate the beauty I see. I watch your work and feel grounded again. Thank you

A longer walk coupled with my very busy day meant that I had to watch your fine walk in segments today- but that is okay, as you got more views.
(It also prolonged the watching pleasure, to have it in installments). I loved the rainy day, the church bells, the quiet narrow pathways, and the charming old-world village- to name just a few things. The church was gorgeous- even as seen from the outside! This gentle shower was a contrast to the harder rain in the last walk- and both kinds are very enjoyable. One of my earliest life memories is wearing rain gear and playing outside in puddles in the rain, at about age 3 or 4- watching twigs and bits of leaves float around. Apparently the adult form of this behavior is taking rain walks, which I enjoy. (As adults we would look a bit silly playing with twigs in puddles :).
What was that large structure around the 26 minute mark- with the open air area for the first floor, but then a second storey room of some sort? Was it a community center? Also, you passed at least 3 areas that were labeled “mews”. This term is unfamiliar to most Americans; could you please tell us what a “mew” is (other than the sound that a kitten makes)? I watched a documentary on Windsor Castle a few years ago that showed the Royal Mews, where the late Queen Elizabeth’s horses were kept- but the areas you passed were obviously not stables, so I wondered about the meaning of that word.
Thank you for sharing another lovely walk; you must be busy, posting two walks this week and it’s not even Wednesday yet! They are appreciated! :)

Hi Janet. Great to hear from you today. It is always good to be busy but nice to take a few minutes out to relax for a while. I really appreciate your time spent on this walk. Glad you enjoyed it. So, the term “Mews” is generally usually used to describe an area on which houses / buildings sit that may have formerly had stables there. The next time we do a countryside walk in the rain I am going to put some sticks or something into a puddle just for you :). Should hopefully have another walk for you before this week is out, which may well be another rainy night walk. Oh, I think the large structure you saw was probably the market hall which dates back to 1617.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
      All the best.

Thanks; when I see the floating sticks, I will say, “Aha, that’s for me!”, and will feel honored! :) (BTW, I do really enjoy the sunshine walks, too- lest I give the wrong impression). :/
Thanks for clarifying about mews. The horse association of the word is there, but the buildings have been repurposed! Good idea. The lower level of that market square would make a fine place for a community band or a musical ensemble to serenade shoppers as they pass during summer months. As the town dates back to 1617, I could picture an early music ensemble with recorders, lute, etc. fitting right in. :)
Have a great rest of your week!

Some nice shops, everything was closed I guess maybe it's Sunday or something, at least the Feathers Hotel seemed to have a coffee shop inside...I can't believe there were only two people out, one man waiting for someone to park and some guy inside the food shop that looked like the seven-eleven stores we have here by where I live in the US....nice and quiet round there but I have to ask, do people actually live there? Or do people just go there in the summertime & lock up their homes the rest of the year? When the Church bells rang 6am I could see on a cold & rainy day not too many wanting to venture out, but when the bells rang 7am there wasn't any activity outside either, not even a dog walker to be seen. Nice small old homes and beautiful clock tower and impressive Church door and windows....just very very eerily quiet.....

    • @OutandaboutWalking
      @OutandaboutWalking  6 месяцев назад +1

Hey, great to hear from you. Hope you are doing well. Yep, people do live there. It was quiet on the streets at that particular time but it does not stay like that for long, before you know it the place is a right hive of activity.
      Many thanks.

Hey OAAW~ What a fun walk!
Fascinating to imagine anything inhabited today dates back to 690.
The path starting ~6:45 to ~8:40 feels like something out of an Endeavour episode.
From ~53:10 on seems a different place. Almost creepy in how different it is. Beautiful, which could feel almost sinister… if it weren’t so beautiful….

    • @OutandaboutWalking
      @OutandaboutWalking  5 месяцев назад +1

Hi Cheryl. How are you doing?
Thanks for your comment & time on this walk.
Yes, fascinating for sure, so much history in this town!
Have you also watched Midsomer Murders too? Whenever I think of Endeavour I think of Oxford (which is on my list of places to film at, preferably on a foggy winter’s morning)
The feel of the walk changed once we entered the lane and there were some spots of rain which could be heard falling onto the foliage.
Cheryl, I was thinking about part of my previous comment to you…the trouble is I’m not too good when it comes to explaining or describing things (I don’t know if it is to do with my autism). I feel like what I should of said was…photography would of been just one of many-many ways your dear dad would of enriched a lot of peoples lives including you & your family.
Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead.

      Hey OAAW~
I’ve not seen Midsomer Murders. My mom loves them though. Oh, an Oxford walk - or should I say walks! - would be so cool! It was more about the feel of that walled walkway that made me think of Endeavour. And the moments of suspense and tension.
I did not get notification of the comment you mentioned! So I just replied to that now five-day-old comment on your earlier video. I shall be mindful of the glitch in the system going forward….
You did just fine - your original comment was lovely. Though I do think your last comment here, as you’ll see in my reply to you on the other video, was rather prophetic. Wouldn’t you agree?
      Here’s to a fabulous weekend! 👏🏻

@@cherylb6755 That was an early start for you today, Cheryl. Well worth it though because how spectacular was the Trooping of the Colour?! Even the rain couldn’t dampen the proceedings! Bravo 👏.
Thank you for your reassuring words. And yes, very “prophetic” indeed :)
Hope to catch-up with you again in the not so distant future.

      Yup, prophetic, indeed.... :)
We are meant to have a heat-wave here this coming week - 4 days of around 90-degrees F with high humidity. I expect I'll be spending time on my couch, enjoying latte after latte, walking around the UK with you!
