I've used this jacket for about 2 years now and the lack of waterproofing irritates me enormously only because it's so wet in the UK it stops me using this as often as I'd like. Great jacket, beautifully made. Very comprehensive review mate, thanks

      Have you tried waxing it?

Great review and jacket. I had been looking for a Vidda Pro and finally found one new here in the US...probably the LAST one based on how many hours I searched. I also searched used and new for this jacket but could've find that either. Two of the best Fjallraven jackets in my opinion and they don't make either one anymore. 🙄 And people must hold onto them since they seem non-existant on the secondary market also.

    Hi Ryan.
Great review. Can't find this jacket on the fjallraven site in the Netherlands. Is it only available in Australia?
    Thanks.

Appreciate the love. Mate I would try somewhere in the UK. These are usually easy to find from Cotsworld or trekkit or a UK based outdoor store. I did this with my winter version of this jacket.

    Hi Ryan,
    Great review!
I will buy this jacket in winter edition in few weeks time.
All Fjallraven jackets what i have it's in XL size.
I'm big european guy - 196 cm tall and around 110 kg.
And I'm a little woried about sleeves jacket.
    Looks a little too short.
I already check Barents and Yupik parka, but they are to heavy duty on trekking.
    This Singi parka looks perfect.
Can you let me know what do you think about sleeves between size L and XL?
    Regards
    Mr. Uomo

Appreciate the kind words champ. I have both this and the winter version in Large. I’m 196cm and 100kg. The sleeves are a touch short but with all Fjallraven jackets and shirts, I’ve found that around the chest and shoulders, there’s very little difference in between the large and xl. They seem to have slightly longer sleeves but they also seem to get significantly bigger around the midsection making them balloon out especially when you go for the more outer layers. For me with my winter version of the singi, I comfortably have merino base layer, light fleece and then puffy under the singi and it feels very comfortable. Your mileage may vary so I definitely suggest finding somewhere to try them on. I’ve found huge disparity between jackets shirts and tops. Some I wear XL, others L. I’ve found only their pants are consistent with the sizing.

Thank you but when i (we) can expect review Singi winter edition jacket?
You right about try jackets on before buy.
I have many Fjallraven jackets and all of them is size XL , size L it's too small.
My last online shopping was Fjallraven Keb Padded Hoodie size XL and it's a little tight around throat and chin.
      But on t-shirt fits perfect.
Is there any difference between sizing Singi jacket and Singi winter edition?
      Which fits better ?
I have many Fjallraven trousers and also have Fjallraven Barents Pro trousers and Fjallraven Barents Pro trousers winter edition and belive me, Barents Pro winter edition fits me best of all trousers.
      Regards,
      Mr. Uomo

@@primowaldemar7441 Totally understand. Well I have had the keb padded hoody in XL and that was too big for me (again, not around the chest and shoulders but its huge around the midsection so if that fits you well, get the singi in the XL would be my suggestion. We are just coming into our colder season soon, so I will more than likely do a review on one of my winter camping adventures in the snow.
I too have the barents pro trousers in winter edition and they are amazing!

Great review ; well balanced pros and cons. Like it - thanks for sharing. I like fjalllraven very much; just done a review of vidda pro trousers. I feel the same about the limitations of the waterproofness - but I would still buy it for bushcrafting because of the quality and prob apply wax on really wet days. Garphtyttan also seem to be a decent brand - one to watch also. ATB Mark.

Appreciate the kind words. Agreed with the waxing but it will only work for so long or too a degree but so much more versatile when out in the Bush compared to a gortex jacket.

What size jacket and what height, weight and build are you?

    • @ryanheldoorn
      @ryanheldoorn  Год назад

It’s a Large. I’m 6’5 and about 95kg and athletic build. If I had to do it again I’d probably get an xl so I can layer a more profound puffy underneath and the sleeves are longer. But at the time, I felt the XL was just too big.

Nice review 👍 is it possible you could give the abisko lite zip-off pats a review? I think Vidda pro is a little bit too warm, keb’s are ok, but people have had problems with mosquitos biting through the stretch areas!
    Cheers from Norway 👍😎

How is not being waterproof a con ? Knowing more waterproof does always mean less breathable regardless of what companies claim. So if you know what you are buying and what for there is no upside or downside in more waterproofing. Its just what you want the jacket to do.

    • @ryanheldoorn
      @ryanheldoorn  2 года назад

That is very true but like you said, the words waterproof and water resistant get thrown around a lot and often irresponsibly. In my opinion, for my use, the jacket is better served in colder conditions so breathability is probably not going to be your number one concern. For me it’s more a outer layer to wear over fleece or puffys to protect them when going through shrub or around campfire etc. You could almost make it’s super water resistant by adding more Greenland wax to the shoulders and hood (meaning you’d still retain more breathability where you want it) and it would be ok in anything but torrential rain.

@@ryanheldoorn Its true that a lot of people are confused by this and when they get the jacket they see it as a negative. Props for answering that fast on a old vid. Will sub. Keep it up.
