      @@EddieFonzarelli I actually tired this and although it worked for a little bit, it caused screen artifacts on LG C9 and RTX 4090 and had me worried my GPU was failing.. I removed the sync box and everything went back to normal. ALSO, you cannot select anything higher than 8bit color and YCbCr444 on limited.. cannot do RGB on full.

    I really don't understand how a product like this, targeted at PCs would, would not have any Displayport options. @MrTekSuggest would you be willing to do a follow up, testing out Displayport to HDMI converters/cables with the synchbox?
    I love my Govee products, but they certainly have their share of...questionable... decision making.

    • @JosephHarry
      @JosephHarry Год назад

      You could just mirror your outputs so the sync box gets HDMI and your monitor gets your Displayport

    • @longaway
      @longaway Год назад

      @@JosephHarry That assumes someone has an HDMI connection that _can_ go to the sync box. In my case, the graphics card has a single HDMI port, that is connected to a drawing monitor that only accepts HDMI. I would either be changing settings every time I wanted the lights, or only getting info from the second display. Or, I'm getting a conversion cable for something.
      This is a cool product, but seems like Govee is either cutting corners ( no displayport, no HDMI 2.1), or putting out a beta/proof-of-concept product. Considering the amount of outdoor lighting they offer that do not have waterproof plugs, I'd say cutting corners.

    These external boxes are useless until they can be used via output like eArc. No one wants to run devices through them. They are out of date with each increment to the HDMI standard. They don’t work alongside native tv apps. What we need is for the required visual data to be included in the eArc output alongside audio. Heck, even allow us to output the current display via one of the HDMI ports. That way they will be active for any content currently displaying to the screen I.e. internal app etc. That’s the solution that will actually work.

      Hi there, my monitor is actually by LG (LG 49WL95C-W Ultrawide). It is indeed a 49” monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. Are you using the included HDMI 2.0 cables (2.1 is not supported)? A lot of Ultra Wides have the ability to adjust aspect ratio within a monitor settings itself. Is it possible that that that setting needs to be adjusted for your monitor to prevent the stretched image? Also, what is your video source mac/PC) & what type of content are you attempting to use with the box?

Is there a way to use this box for music audio light display than just what’s on the screen? It is getting it from hdmi because you have that sound option where it still does the screen but pulses to the audio. But is it possible to take everything I have sync the audio through the box that’s connected to my pc rather than each items internal mic or my phone. I know they have a music sync, but it’s still just using a mic instead of input audio.

    If a secondary hdmy or dp cable is connected directly from the gpu to the monitor, govee will use the first cable only for the colours while the monitor will still run 4k 120fps. So yes, even if it does not have 2.1 hdmi it is still easily solved by just adding a second cable to the monitor. I do agree it is moronic they did not build in the latest hdmi standard nor have they added dp cable support since they are targeting gamers. My main gripes are that is almost 100e more expensive than lytmi box, which offers the same gunctionality plus has 2.1 hdmi and costs 33% less and that the alleged AI is not AI at all, it requires to manually program lighting effrcts for specific games and it is manually built instead of actually using AI to adapt to every content on screen automatically.

      If I do the configuration you mentioned, is there any negative performance impact while gaming as there are two signals? or is it a very minor difference or none at all?

    • @StillnessInMotion88
      @StillnessInMotion88 Год назад

      @YouBelongToOcean not that I know of, one signsl is telling the box what to display, nothing more, the other is the one used to siplay the image to the screen. I do not have the box, I saw 2 videos on ytube proving this, it was a review of the unit.

    i love govee but this product has very strange specs. most people on monitors are using hdmi 2.1 or display port. i'd love to throw more money at govee and this has been a product i've long been waiting for to use with my pc setup, and i can't even use it because i'm using a 240hz 1440p monitor via displayport. either way great video and great information as usual. bummer govee launched this product already outdated for many PC and next gen console users.

      If your GFX card has 2 ports, you should be able to use 2 cables, one directly to your monitor (for desired resolution/refresh rate/etc) and one to the Govee for the lighting.

    So we moved from hdmi to camera and back to hdmi again. Functionality it's the same just more expensive. This is a lose for consumers imho.
    They should have stuck to improving the camera based system - at least that won't be outdated by evolving hdmi standards.
