    So I just got a 4k 240hz monitor so was going to return my sync box since I use the DisplayPort now and just get a g1 strip for pc software or the pro setup with camera. Or could you not plug in DisplayPort and hdmi cord and then just duplicate display from DisplayPort connection to still get lights from sync box while your 4k setup? Even though I know I can’t get 240hz but can def get more than 60hz. Shouldn’t this setup work around work?? Thanks.

    Hands down the best comparision vid on the whole of RUclips. Well explained. Now I regret I have the Lytmi Fantasy 3, I always thought in HDR mode it looked kinda grey and thought it was my eyes, but now I see its a know problem. Not very nice of them to advertize with HDR when it does not work very well :-(. Thinking of the Govee right now but as you explain you need to adjust a bit too right to get good HDR with Govee?

What I want to do is have the 2 govee aura lamps that I have either side of the tv to react to whats being displayed aswell. I picked up the Lytmi 3 a few days ago. One of the first things we watched on the (also new) 77" C3 was My Hero Academia and W O W is that awesome. In fact any SDR source looks so rich and awesome. But that issue you pointed out with HDR content is a huge killer. It's probably more apparent on an OLED display, but the black levels of the LED strips is just a constant grey! It looks terrible. That with the strange desturation of the rest of the color space really take away from the experience and becomes a distraction. When watching HDR content (something that is becoming more of a standard with streaming service productions), I find myself walking up and turning the lights off for the duration of the session. It's a shame, but I'm hoping a software fix could swoop in and save the day.
    Great review, thanks for putting the comparison together.

    Really great workaround bro. It’s just shameful that with all of these advanced tvs out there that Govee hasn’t joined the rest of the world with 4k @ 120 hz, I have been wanting to get one of these lighting kits so bad but I don’t want to sacrifice and go 4k @ 60hz and I also don’t want to only run 1 device at 120hz. I want to run both my Apple TV AND my Xbox series X both at 120hz. Honestly I think for the time being, I’m going to buy a more inexpensive kit that relies on a camera (which I hate the way it looks with the camera front and center) but at least that way I can just switch to the hover 2.1 HDMI box when they eventually come around and put one out. I appreciate all of your reviews and your opinions.

    I recently got the govee ai sync box and the colors are great! I grabbed the 8k hdmi splitter as well and that solution is definitely working at the moment, but im still testing it a bit longer term.
    My two biggest issues with the sync box right now is the lackluster top and bottom lighting for letterboxed content and the second is that the HDMI switching is largely handled through the sync box or the govee app. I have yet to figure out if auto hdmi switching works with this box yet, but so far it doesnt look like it.

      Thanks for dropping by. I’ve been told that an update is in the works to help mitigate the widescreen issue described. It doesn’t look like auto switching is currently supported unfortunately. Have you ditched the govee neon strip "hack" to boost the backlighting brightness? not sure if you did that when upgrading to T2 (I think you were using T1 in that hack video) or just had to take it down so you could add more strips to your TV to test products such at the Lytmi box

      I am trying to upgrade to the Sync Box from my T2 and use the splitter hack, how do the Sync Box lights compare to the T2 in terms of brightness? Wondering if you would still recommend adding the neon strip in that setup. Either way, thanks for all the in depth info you provide in your videos and quick replies to comments. Your channel has been invaluable to me in terms of working with Govee products. I just couldnt ever truly dial in proper calibration settings with the T2 on a 77" LG C2 and the lag was also bothering me. I can deal with the lack of VRR, seems like there aren't even a ton of PS5 games that support it atm regardless. Appreciate any input/recommendations you could provide! Full disclosure, I have already purchased the Sync Box and was pressed for time so I simply connected it to my T2 lights. I plan to put up the lights that came with the Sync Box and do a full reset just in case connecting to the T2 lights caused any problems. But I was severely unimpressed with the brightness. I did just notice I had another Wi-Fi firmware update to apply, so I just did that and will test it out soon. Still would love your input on the Neon strip. I have also purchased the desk strip for my media stand as recommend in one of your other videos and am excited for that added capability. One more question (sorry for so many!) but does the Sync Box natively support Atmos or would the splitter be necessary for this too?
      @@MrTekSuggest

    • @MrTekSuggest
      @MrTekSuggest  7 месяцев назад

      @@nickl514 Yes, you can get native support for the sync box with Atmos. The T2 and the sync box light strips are both 60 beads per meter, and very very similar in design. Govee does not recommend it as it may not work for everyone, but I have successfully interchanged the light strips between the two without problems. You can certainly add the neon TV rope to the mix, however, you will lose some precision as it does not have as many dedicated IC targeting areas

      once again, appreciate the info and quick reply. i know I shouldnt be using the T2 strips, but I've been fairly preoccupied lately and simply have been too lazy to put up the new strip. Also still debating on whether or not to keep the T2 strip up or remove it. Previously, when i checked the audio/display in the audio diagnostics, the only "Yes" in the audio section was for PCM Audio. I admit that i did not not scan the QR code to "learn more about why Fire TV may not be able to properly detect audio settings." I installed a splitter last night, and just went through the diagnostics and everything is coming back with a "Yes." Great! Well, maybe not so because now it seems I have no audio running through my soundbar, despite the popup in the corner listing "Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos through sound bar". I will give all my devices a quick restart, but my soundbar is connected to my TV's eARC port as always, and this is actually the splitter/downscaler than I'm using: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C996Q4YP/. Seems to be the 1x2 version of the 1x4 version you link to in your other video, and comes with 2 devices, which I did not think I would need (only using PS5 and Fire TV Cube, which shouldnt require the downscaling), but it may come in handy. I'll do some troubleshooting and get back to you ASAP, but if you do have a quick known fix for my audio issue (tinkering with EDID options possibly?), please don't hesitate to post it before I give my update! Thanks again for all your help. @@MrTekSuggest

    For my eyes when you have the three up together and I pause it on those scenes it appears to me that the govee t2 cameras matches the screen colors much more correctly. The lytmi is just way off on colors and timing. If its blue on screen it shows a black and if its dark its showing a blue where the govees both match colors in the right areas better and the t2 looks brighter.

    Hi mate. Thanks for a great video!!
    I don't know if it is because of your back wall texture or because on camera (video) things are never exactly the same as in real life, but I feel that your T2 colour matching is a bit off.
    I'll try to run some comparisons using some of the scenes you used and update this comment later.
    Edit: I tested my T2 in the movie scenes and can confirm that your colours are a bit off, especially the skin tones. Your colour calibration seems to be a bit too much on the warm side.
    I must say though, despite mine being a bit better in terms of colour, it's still no match for the Box, especially where in some bits theres some sort of faint green, but the camera sees it in blue, unlike the box that does a mich better job. However, it's not miles away, and the T2 is very damn capable imo.

    • @jtown8701
      @jtown8701 10 месяцев назад

      I appreciate the follow up on your comment! Thinking of getting the T2 since I game and watch movies. I need the 4K 120hz, so I think the T2 is the best in the market for what I’m looking for, in my personal opinion after researching for a couple hours. Also have you tried recalibrating your T2 camera and see if the edges align correctly?

    • @madmac3981
      @madmac3981 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@jtown8701 my calibration is correct. The thing with the T2 is, because it's camera based, it's not just taking what's on the edge of the screen, it's taking more of an average of an area and reproducing the most prevalent colour in that area. (This is my own realizations of how it works, not an official statement from Govee)
      Sometimes, if there's something on that screen that is a different colour but of a smaller size, it might not be reproduced. The colour calibration on the app allows you to get very close to what's on the TV screen, but it's not perfect as some colours might be off (I sometimes get certain shades of orange as red). Another thing to have in mind is the day/night configuration. If you calibrate your system in the nighttime with the lights off (as you probably should), then it's not going to be as accurate during the day, and vice versa.
      For the price, I don't think you can go wrong with the T2. It was my best purchase in a long long time. I absolutely love it!

    • @jtown8701
      @jtown8701 10 месяцев назад

      @@madmac3981 I appreciate the insight, but after a couple more videos of looking into it, it may not be what I was hoping for in a Govee TV backlight product.
      Also keeping in mind that my TV is 48”. (The LED strips are too long creating more inaccuracy.) Which for sure put the nail in the coffin.
      Appreciate your feedback still!

    • @madmac3981
      @madmac3981 10 месяцев назад

      @@jtown8701 yeah, the size might be an issue, although some people have found some very creative ways around it. Make no mistake, the only "perfect" system is Philips Ambilight imbued on the TV(the original that started it), all others have flaws and limitations. I feel the T2 is as good as it gets with small compromises and I can tell you I wouldn't trade it for the sync box as it's limited to HDMI inputs, so native TV apps (Netflix and such) won't work.
      If you want something perfect, better just get yourself a Philips TV, as you'll be left disappointed with everything else (I would have, if they weren't more expensive than the LG I got)

  • @dalhectar
    @dalhectar 10 месяцев назад +3

    One thing I noticed is that there's no mention of non-full screen performance, such as watching a 2.35:1 movie on a 16:9 TV so the movie is letterboxed. Compare to videos I've seen of Philips Hue Sync in action, or in my experience with the T2- Govee HDMI treats the letterboxes as part of the image so the middle portion of the sides of the TV that are letterboxed have almost no backlighting. Corners can utilize the image that reaches the left/right sides of the TV, but when there's 2.35:1 letterboxed content there's almost no backlighting in the middle of the letterboxed sides. Compare the difference between a 2:1 movie like Jurassic World to a 2.35:1 movie like a Star Wars movie or even a 4:3 movie like the Snyder Cut of Justice League.
    For TV content that's filmed 16:9 & video games that use the full screen this is a non-issue, but for theatrically released movies it takes away dramatically from the improved speed & accuracy that the TV Sync Box offers.
