I totally get that mindset. I was a homemaker and stay at home mom when I was in my 20s. My ex divorced me and I was a struggling single mother for 4 years. My childhood sweetheart came back into my life and we got married. It took many, MANY years for me to be okay with not making an income and relying on my husband. I worked up until a little over 6 years ago when our youngest child was born with special health needs. I transitioned into a full time homemaker and caretaker. I am now 40, married 10 years to the love of my life, and still to this day struggle with that scared urgency to make my own money because of what was done to me when I was younger even though I know and trust my husband to do the right thing by us.

As far as quitting working and learning to live on one income, I had the same experience as you did. I'm still learning! If I had one tip it would be to not forget about yourself. It's very easy to always make sure everyone else has everything, that your home looks great etc. But even just getting one small thing for yourself can pick up your mood. Like getting a coffee when you run errands or getting a conditioner you like best. It's a prevention against being resentful, along with everything else you mentioned (learning contentment)

Yes I definitely I agree. I do that each week as a little pick me up! Great advice! Id love to share on next video 🥰💝😊 thanks sis !!😋

I don't know if you're a Christian but I have six children and I don't feel the need of a pick me up....what exactly does that do for you?? Don't you get things for yourself regularly or are you only allowed to buy a cup of coffee every once in a while?? I don't get how that makes less resentment.....why do you have resentment in the first place??

@Jamison Smith And April Smith Channel maybe bc she's not a robot? When you NEVER get a break, can't afford babysitter can't afford sanitary products for yourself you can get a bit grumpy. I've been less grumpy lately by the grace of God but when you're struggling mentally or feel alone or feel like nobody is caring Bout you especially your husband it's easy to feel a bit of resentment. Not everyone's perfect Karen.

I think what your saying is very smart and sometimes we have let go of things that we want and focus on what we need that’s what’s important in life love you

I admit my life has always been frugal but comfy, so it was easy to become a housewife in my early 20s. With my dad we were working class, but I never lacked anything I needed or even wanted. My husband has created a lower middle class environment for me through his self-employment. I know I'm fortunate to have had good men in my life as well. That makes a huge difference to being able to have peace of mind and a feminine presence. I've learned that anxiety is pointless and everything will always work out one way or another - that's been my experience anyway.

Hi!!! So I’m very grateful we are currently in a place where we can still buy what we want without me having a 9-5 because we have our own business but I am a minimalist by choice. I started noticing I wanted to be content with less when he had a 9-5 and we couldn’t just buy whatever we wanted as we do now
And it was the best choice ever. It truly helps to be content with less. Helps with anxiety, depression, frees time , less
Cleaning, just buy what you need good quilt and it’s ’ll laSt forever. Love your honesty and you will make this a steady income your videos are so cute!

Girl, what an amazing open and honest video 🧡
I feel like it’s So important to budget and to think about things before you buy them, regardless if you can afford it at that moment or not. But it is a journey, it doesn’t come that easy, because we are constantly influenced to ‘need’ and want certain things. That’s why I’m trying to limit my social media apps.. the less you see the less you want 🙈
I would pick time with my family over more money any day. If I get caught up in thinking about what I don’t have I try to be aware that time is So much more valuable.
And you are So right about the bad vs good habits. I’m trying to be less on my phone and more present. That’s the main goal right now 🙂

    • @TheWellNourishedHomemaker
      @TheWellNourishedHomemaker  2 года назад

Yes, I definitely agree! That’s my goal to!! I only have one social media and that’s hard lol thanks Kelly!! I think we all struggle with this & we just have to put the figurative stop sign up in our minds when we catch ourselves desiring unnecessary things✋ 🛑 your doing great!! Keep it up sis 💝

Great job getting your workout done! Great advice! I have a sampler that I embroidered that says, “One way to live happily ever after is to not be after too much.” When I shop, I have rules for myself- when I see something I want, I have to know where I will put it and if something else is there, I need to be willing to get rid of that (or have another place for it and doesn’t create clutter). I don’t just buy because I like it. I like a lot of things, but that doesn’t meant I need to have them. I have seen some RUclipsrs whose videos are almost all thrifting and decluttering over and over. It is still possible for thrifting to be poor money management as well. Contentment is a show of respect to our husbands. I’m glad Josiah got to get out in the sunshine. He is such a cutie!

Yes 🙌 🙌 🙌 I learned that as well! Just because I like it doesn’t mean that I should get it even if I can get it. It takes self discipline and self control along with self respect to in some ways. Your right!! Thank you for sharing sis!! 💝🥰😌 I have that rule to , something must go! I find objects in the home bring me a lot of emotion so I need to be careful with what and how much I get. If it doesn’t bring me a sense of joy when I look at it, I don’t need it!! 😋

I love your videos. I'm an adult in my early twenties and never really was told to do any house work as a skill to learn and love. Living in a third world country, we have maids so a lot of the house chores i skipped out on as my parents made me prioritise my studies instead. and i realised its not what gave me peace like homemaking did.
I love your videos and love watching them as I do my own thing!
a few small suggestions would be that to make the music transitions a bit more smoother, to keep the audio of you speaking at the same level throughout the video and when you're speaking to lower the music a bit more so you're voice is more separable from it.

  • @AuthenticallyRaylynn

Loved the video!!! So much great advice. I also get wanting things, and not being able to get them. But, having what you need. It's hard to see other people's homes and things and not start wishing you had more. I have struggled with this for so long. I'm learning to count my blessings, and be thankful for what the Lord has blessed me with. Thanks for sharing! 💜💜

Yes absolutely Raylnn 💝 there will always be someone who has more and someone who has less than us. There’s nothing wrong with wanting nice things and working hard to get them is encouraged but not at the cost of your happiness. It takes time and you will slowly get there! That again is learning the quality of patience! 😌

Haha 😆 yes lol thank you so much sis!! So happy for your new transition. And hope your treatments go well! I know Maca powder can help balance hormones as it supports your endocrine system. One of the key benefits of maca is its ability to boost fertility or treat infertility problems. Natives of the Andes mountains (where maca is grown) have long used maca as a fertility aid. Look I to superfoods if you haven’t already and holistic naturopathic ways. Don’t mean to tell you what to do lol just want to help 🥰
