How to Reset the Service Light on a 2013 Mini Cooper SD

- Hi, this video shows how to reset the service light on a 2013 Mini Cooper SD. You will find that the same or similar process is used on many other Mini models. I show how to reset the oil light, the vehicle check light and also how to set the MOT (Road Worthiness Test). This is ideal if you have done your own servicing and you don't want the car reminding you to sevice the car everytime you start your engine.

Thank you! This worked on my 2012 Countryman S. I had my oil changed at a Volkswagen dealership because the nearest mini dealership is 2.5 hours away and there are no shops in my area that work on Minis. My service light had been on since then. Now I know how to reset it. Thank you!!!!

Worked a treat. On my Cooper SP, I initially forget to first press the start/stop button and accidentally revealed vehicle details (VIN, production date etc).
Googled resetting the service interval.... Your video is perfect ... thank you!
Thanks! This is the simplest and most reliable way to do this. Worked on a 2009 Mini Cooper Canadian Model.
After pressing the start button I only have about 15 seconds before the instrument panel lighting is shut off. I solved it by first changing the month and then repeat the process, changing the year. Thank you very much for this video!

Thank you for the info. (Brake pad reset). You would think after changing the the pads and sensor, then trying to clear the code with a snap on scanner it would cover it, but no it doesn't. This reset procedure is necessary.

Ive got the Vehicle check up on my dash just did this on the video it went bck to Orange but when I restarted the car it came straight bck on.as the car got to have a service and the car as to recognize this?

I have a 2013 mini cooper, the indicator for a bad lamp is coming up. The mechanic said that it is not showing which one -- it is showing a fluctuation or increase in something, but not the lamp being out. He was going to show me how to stop that light from coming on but when I paid for my service there were others waiting and he couldn't. Is there an easy way to not have that come up every time I turn the car on and sometimes at other times while it is on? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Is there a way of back-dating the MOT and service dates as they've accidentally been set too far in the future?

hi! theres a phone sybol on my 2003 mini on the radio , so is that a bluetooth or something else ? my cd players eject button wont spit out a cd so its stuck and I had to use a credit card to figit with it and now it wont even take a cd now. goes in half way and bounces back out !

Go back to beginning & make sure instrument cluster warning lights are on before pressing button on rev counter for 5 seconds.

Work on my 2010 r56. It should be noted that you need to let the service lights cycle through for a few seconds before holding the button down.

That’s brilliant. So that means any registered garages are able to reset the service lights? ATS said they are unable to reset the lights as they do not have the software. Which this clearly shows it can be done. I rang a MINI centre they said a non-BMW wouldn’t be able to reset the lights. Is that true?

I tried this to reset the vehical check light, but everytime the reset shows up, i hear a click and it goes away almost immediately and I have to start all over again. How do I remedy this?

Way too late but same thing was happening to me and it was that I had very low oil so it was overheating a bit.
My 2009 mini doesnt have an oil level warning nor an overheating warning..

@@shawnmartins169 In Great Britain, once a car is over three years old, it has to have a rigorous road worthy test, brakes, lights, emissions etc. MOT stands for Ministry of Transport who govern the testing. It is illegal to drive without a valid test.
