Michelle seemed so disappointed that the interviewer even brought up MM. Her first response said it all so the interviewer had to try to get more for the MM supporters but Michelle made it clear where she stood.
She clearly didn’t want to get drawn into what she rightly reminded everyone, is a family situation - but the interviewer wouldn’t stop pushing.. Mrs Obama did the best and very responsible thing, and refused to be dragged into it...choosing also to tamp down, and not inflame an already out of control situation.. She handled it perfectly - even if she’s still ended up incurring the wrath of those who think that she’s at their beck and call and that she exists entirely for her voice to be exploited for other people’s purposes - even as she ends up still being attacked and scapegoated no matter what.

I am sure there are many people who are more privileged than others who can show compassion for others even when they are relatively rich. Could they do more to help those less fortunate than themselves? Inevitably yes. I recognise my own privilege and whilst I don’t think of myself as rich I know that having no worry about having somewhere to live, food to eat, people to love and no threat of imminent violence I have wealth beyond measure and I am also able to help others. The questions are how. I am prepared to do without quite a lot of things and devote some of my time to help others but not everything and not all of my time. I don’t know if I would describe myself as a socialist but I do believe that the measure of how civilised we are is based on how well we treat the least fortunate amongst us and that if we don’t assume collective responsibility for that it is much harder to achieve. As an individual I find it difficult to decide whether it is better to try to help one person or a few people achieve the possibility of a much better life or as many people as possible to reach a slightly better existence. I would be interested to know your thoughts. I don’t know what your circumstances are and I am sorry if you are struggling but maybe you are someone that thinks everyone should just fight for their own existence and wealth and not bother about these issues unless they are prepared to give up all of their own wants and needs. That was one of the best answers I’ve heard regarding the interview. She was honest but in a gentle way sort of still said how being in public service is to serve the people’s needs. She said it was lonely but trying to focus on the people you serve is how she got through the rough parts. I really liked that. Also, her saying how family is the most important thing was a slight to the RF, IMO. Like, be honest in conversations and work it out. So PC without coming across that way. Best politician I think I’ve heard speak is Michelle, she excels in how she presents herself.

Some new outlets were very negative against her as they were against Melania. Michelle seemed so disappointed that the interviewer even brought up MM. Her first response said it all so the interviewer had to try to get more for the MM supporters but Michelle made it clear where she stood.
She clearly didn’t want to get drawn into what she rightly reminded everyone, is a family situation - but the interviewer wouldn’t stop pushing..
Mrs Obama did the best and very responsible thing, and refused to be dragged into it...choosing also to tamp down, and not inflame an already out of control situation.. She handled it perfectly - even if she’s still ended up incurring the wrath of those who think that she’s at their beck and call and that she exists entirely for her voice to be exploited for other people’s purposes - even as she ends up still being attacked and scapegoated no matter what.
The interviewer was trying to get her to say what she wanted to hear but she didn't fall into her trap.

That's because Michelle Obama is always on point in being careful what she says. You could see that she was being cautious about saying anything specific or directly because that's a difficult situation that M&H are in, and it's best to try and maintain neutrality when you are a high profile person. The British monarchy is still a powerful institution in the world, so no matter how people feel about the things Meghan revealed about her experience on the inside of the royal institution, right now it pays to be neutral. Michelle spoke about it mostly in terms of her own experience of public service, which is not the same as the dysfunction, racism and classicism that Meghan experienced inside the gilded cage.

I am sure there are many people who are more privileged than others who can show compassion for others even when they are relatively rich. Could they do more to help those less fortunate than themselves? Inevitably yes. I recognise my own privilege and whilst I don’t think of myself as rich I know that having no worry about having somewhere to live, food to eat, people to love and no threat of imminent violence I have wealth beyond measure and I am also able to help others. I don’t know if I would describe myself as a socialist but I do believe that the measure of how civilised we are is based on how well we treat the least fortunate amongst us and that if we don’t assume collective responsibility for that it is much harder to achieve.
As an individual I find it difficult to decide whether it is better to try to help one person or a few people achieve the possibility of a much better life or as many people as possible to reach a slightly better existence. I would be interested to know your thoughts. I don’t know what your circumstances are and I am sorry if you are struggling but maybe you are someone that thinks everyone should just fight for their own existence and wealth and not bother about these issues unless they are prepared to give up all of their own wants and needs. I would really like to know.

Omg I came here trying to find the Meghan and Harry interview and I am sooo glad I found this instead. It is so rare to find someone hold themselves with such grace and such awe consuming love. You can so clearly see this in her response to the M&H question from the way she doesn't jump on the band wagon of rage and calling people out but still gives the topic of race the justice it deserves. She did. Also the Obamas are on good terms with the Royal Family and William and Kate, and it's hard to take sides.
That was one of the best answers I’ve heard regarding the interview. She was honest but in a gentle way sort of still said how being in public service is to serve the people’s needs. She said it was lonely but trying to focus on the people you serve is how she got through the rough parts. I really liked that. Also, her saying how family is the most important thing was a slight to the RF, IMO. Like, be honest in conversations and work it out. So PC without coming across that way. Best politician I think I’ve heard speak is Michelle, she excels in how she presents herself.
Michelle could’ve come out more in support of the young AMERICAN first time mom, in a foreign country with not the warmest of in-laws.
Also, she basically was saying to H & M, like, yeah, public service is super hard and you’re under a blaring spotlight but focus on the people and push through it. I feeel like she really doesn’t respect them for giving up their roles. Just the vibe I got.

im from Thailand and i Love Michelle Obama. shes such an inspiration and i love listening to her. she gives me awareness about the truths of life. though its a very serious topic, its still relaxing and productive to listen to her.

TBH, this is the first time I heard her speak. I love how she shared her opinion about Meghan Markle's interview. I expected differently; I was surprised. She is an intelligent and genuine woman. Some new outlets were very negative against her as they were against Melania. Some words were took out of context some show derogatory pictures of Michelle as a monkey and Melania with playboy but what it all boils down to as both these women were mothers and both these women had husbands in power. The difference is one of these women uplifted the world and the other one downplayed the bullying of her husband and show the world that not every first lady is meant to be first lady.
