We recommend Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal) for its quaint, cobblestoned charm, Little Italy (La Petit Italie) for the authentic Italian food, and the Gay Village (Le Village Gai) for the vibrant nightlife. In the dead of winter, you can even head to the RESO for a spot of underground shopping! If you love the outdoors, there are a lot of things to do in Montreal, especially in the summer. Every neighborhood has outdoor cafes to lounge about in, sipping your coffee or glass of wine. There are over 600 kilometers of bike paths and a plethora of historically interesting green spaces-from the Montreal Botanical Garden and Parc du Mont-Royal to Dorchester Square and Place du Canada. Oh, and don’t forget to head to Jean-Talon Market: it’s the largest open-air market in North America!
For sports fans feeling overwhelmed by all the art and culture, don’t worry. Montreal still has you covered. Catch an ice hockey game at the Arena St-Louis or a film at the Cineplex Odeon Forum on Rue Ste, built in an old ice hockey stadium! This is just a sample of the things to do in Montreal for visitors in Canada and worldwide. There are countless more day trips, foodie adventures, and cultural marvels in the area. So if you want to build your Montreal bucket list, watch on for more inspiration.

About Notre-Dame, the «O'Donnell's church» is not the one we know today, at least the interior.
«In 1865, the façade of the church was completed with the installation of three large statues of St Joseph (patron saint of Canada), the Virgin Mary (patron saint of Montréal) and St John the Baptist (patron saint of Quebec). The interior decor could not be completed during O'Donnell's lifetime. This attracted a lot of criticism at the time, especially due to the lighting; a window located where the current sanctuary is blinded the congregation during Mass by backlighting the ceremony. As early as 1856, La Fabrique Notre-Dame asked for a review of the plans. Under the direction of Montréal architect Victor Bourgeau (1809-1888) the interior decorations were done from 1872 to 1875 and from 1879 to 1880. The last work produced under Bourgeau before his death in 1888 was the Chaire de Vérité [The Pulpit of Truth],one of the most striking decorative elements in the church. Louis-Philippe Hébert (1850-1917) created the wood carvings that adorn it based on the plans of sculptor Henri Bouriché (1826-1906) that Bourgeau had adapted.

@@OnViewCation For what I know, the first interior decoration was too simple, according to what Catholics were accustom with at the time. And it seems that the large window behind the altar created too much light in some parts of the church, while other parts were feeling like in the dark. A chapel has been constructed behind the altar, eliminating the large stained glass window, and the decoration became what it is today. I am Montrealer. Thanks for the video.
