The 327 is a great motor. Even in a car it didn't come in. Basically the same displacement as a modern Silverado engine, the 5.3 liter. But, I am really liking my BluePrint 383, $6k and 461 hp. So many options nowadays.
Back in 1990 I had a 383 sbc built for my 72 Nova, just the block assembly I supplied all the parts, and I paid the the Machine Shop $900 total for a balanced blueprinted block assembly, and with parts it was $2100 those were the good old days...
Here's an idea..... put the motor into the blue Nomad, drive it out West, swap out the motor and drive it back East and deliver it to these outstanding hot rodders to build for you..... that way we get road trip videos, and you can also make video's of the engine installs and removals! win / win for everyone
Great video guys! John and Cecil are spot on! I love the fact that they balanced your 454! I am a firm believer in that! I also like their old school ideas and they have a wealth of knowledge that they've learned over the years that they share with you. My son worked for Clay Smith Cams and they used the 350 SBC from his '71 Nova to be their dyno mule for 4 separate cams thst they tested with Trick Flow 195 castings and AFR 180 CNC heads. Steve Brule from Westech ran the dyno for the 350 before he retired and shared a lot of great nuggets in the video dyno session seen on the Clay Smith Cams RUclips page. As much fun as those dyno sessions were with Steve, I am looking forward to seeing John and Cecil get their dyno up and running for your future builds too. Keep up the great work Dan and keep up the great work John and Cecil!
Thanks for the video Dan/Dani! I always enjoy John and Cecil tech talk vids. Those old Merlin BBC heads will work well, I remember there was a set around these parts. I think they are a improved version of a cast iron BBC oval port head like a 781 casting..That BBC engine will rock the "gold dust" 57!
Nice to see the return to big blocks. Ship via freight forwarder or LTL truck rather than expiditers or courier companies. Wish I lived closer I would drive back and forth for fuel and a per diem for lodging and food just to see these cars and engines live again.
16:01 I hear ya, D…yes, fueling’s a critical condition, but engines are unique to themselves & being able to find where they’re happier doing engine things down highways only makes us understand and love (or despise) them more. finding where they’re happy in their current state only prolongs life. many don’t understand this & many drive Kias. if ya know, ya know & if ya don’t, then you’re not watching DDSS uploads while your wife (or BF) swipes about on Tinder. I look forward to seeing this V8 get to work.
Have John and Cecil build a 300 for the Ford. Put a 5 soeed behind it. Throw a turbo kn it, 400-500hp easy. Tune the shocks, bushings and tires. Would make the perfect mile eating, gas sippin, motor and parts movin rig. And, it's already lettered ! P.S. A John & Cecil show would be cool.
DAN, Your 327 V8 Chevy small block 4" bore is the ultimate TORQUER in 302 Cubic Inch choice with 3" stroke 283 engine... The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28's 302 engine had several improvements over the 1968 model, including: Block: Thicker main bearing webs, four-bolt mains, and a large journal crankshaft Intake manifold: Redesigned Water pump assembly: Longer and deeper Horsepower: 350 horsepower Other features of the 1969 Z/28 A heavy-duty radiator and a temperature-controlled fan A larger hood with forced air induction options Front disc brakes behind a 15-inch Corvette wheel package A Hurst shifter A cowl-induction hood that became a mid-season option The 1969 Z/28 was a competitor to the Ford Boss 302, which was factory-rated at the same 290 horsepower. However, there was speculation that both engines made more than 400 horsepower.
Just my opinion, On the blue nomad, I would rather see the original motor be rebuilt and put back in, you have so many others already built for fun, A 283 or 327 can be just as fun,,sound just as good. Besides, you stuck in a 305, the bottom of a barrel motor in the 55, 4dr. I enjoyed building a replica dz302, which was a small journal motor i built, might be an idea for you with your block. It was 700 for the Ross pistons and 700 for scat rods, at the time I built mine, Enjoy watching you nuts on building engines, lol
Tell John; Hello from Ray C. We used to work at the same workplace.John knows his engines in depth,an encyclopedia of knowledge.Been watching D&D Speed Shop for about a year now.
It would make for a great road trip video to put that motor in the blue nomad and tow the black nomad Back west with it. You could be the first to tow a 55 Nomad with a 55 Nomad.....
Everyone likes watching 3,000 hp builds but for the average person a 400-450 hp small block is what we can afford. The most fun I had was a 427 with 400hp and 450ftlbs in a 68 camaro with a 4 speed and 410 gears. drive anywhere.
No. NO, No It's the right motor & defiantly WORTH redoing -- Please DAN redo it & put it back in It is big $$$ in the bank!! It's not a hot rod it's a cream puff Do the right thing for that gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chevrolet had came out in the mid 1960s with a *327 SMALL BLOCK V8 also with a 4" bore... Want to build a large journal 69 327 around a trihigh Edelbrock with two 660 cfm center squirter. Holly carbs, let me know. There's one in my possession. About 400 miles south of Calgary in Mt.
I don't think a mechanic but he does work in a shop I figure he specializes in chassis work and maybe frame stuff his new job apears to be management and training

Judging from the Dart and the Cuda, those guys are Mopar guys, which makes me like them even more.
They're also known for some killer corvettes
So is that a Dart or a Roadrunner

Dude I could watch John and Cecil engine videos all day. Please 🙏 get that in motion!!!!
Here Here 🍻
The best part of a DD build is these guys. Hack it together but make sure the motor is cherry 🍒
DD Speed Shop stops at the candy store. This is always a great learning experience for me. Cheers!! 😎

You can tell Dan is out visiting, he's all dressed up in a new jacket. 👀
Classic bait and switch, the first few motors where smokin deals and now you're hooked they just keep crankin those prices UP & UP & UP!!!
Who knew hair modeling paid so well 😂. Great video Dan 👍
Awesome Master builder on Hot Rods motors. Keep up the great work you guys.
That 454 would be cool in that truck.
I really like when they are on your channel, if they ever start their own I’d watch it

Love the Sun Diagnostic Center!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great work!!!!!
I'm really liking that 'Cuda up on the lift!
Love those two, it's old school at it's best
They are a great pair of hot roders, and could do very good with a channel of their own. Cannot wait to see you getting those cars running.
Finally putting some speed into the DD "Speed Shop" builds !
Small journal 327, can we say DZ 302! Perfect for the truck
Great video, that motor is cool and those guys are good at what they do
WOW! You got the "I wholeheartedly approve." from Cecil. Way-to-go..
👍👍Jon and Cecil 2 great guys …. Thank you for this video Ddss
Very nice entertaining and knowledgeable cool engine guys . More of them any time
I can't wait to see that blue Nomad back on the road again. That undoubtedly is one of the prettier cars that you have.

These guys are always good on camera! Wouldn't mind seeing more of them when the dyno is ready!
I love talking about motor builds between gearheads 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼! Takes me back to the seventies 😍
Love the Malcolm Smith poster. What a great guy.

There's new horsepower in the future at DD Speed Shop 😊
Man! John and Cecil know their stuff. I liked that comment - The New Engine Masters - (oops they're in Canada.) Lol 🇨🇦
Them boys understand the surface Equals tire Dia 3.73 is the sweet spot,
This was a great video really enjoyed it
Awesome Dan Awesome 😎
These guys are very good at what they do. They have respect for you and your dream. If you dream a build these guys will help you score.

I couldn’t stand having my stuff in two separate locations Dan.
I would truck everything to my new place.
That’s just me.
I like videos like this. Talk performance engines and trans.
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all I wished I knew what y'all forgot about Hot rod I be a smart man rock on
Hey Dan. Why don’t you try a 700r4 trans ?? Doesn’t need a computer control
Dan, you need to talk about that Cuda next time.😷

Just like a great Hot Fudge Sundae. Lots of flavor!
Let’s gooooo. It’s time for another great video 👍👍
Just drive the 55 back with a trailer, can swap in the parking lot, trailer the motors back home
Oooooo i got a motor out of a 91 gmc 454 from the Tonawanda plant that I'd love to put into something and make it a tire burner
❤❤ I love your videos, awesome content😊
Fancy Dan with his car lifts and u-haul trailers. Even washed his hair and put on a new coat. Bet he has pocket size Kroil bottle for $60 too!
A couple of stand up guys
Dan, see if you can do a live with these guys. They have a lot of knowledge to give the viewers.
How about a nice rowdy 572" big block with aluminum heads for the Chevelle. Or even a port injected (Crower calliope style)Arias Hemi.
The Chevelle definitely needs a beastly motor and some big meats on the back!
@@Jim-qz8wc We are speaking the same language friend.
Sounds great can't wait to see it in the Nomad
Wow, I've got the same Sun Tune machine in my garage. Great video, love them guys!
He could drop your good motors in his Vette. Drive them to Calgary. Then you could swap in a "bad" motors to go back for rebuild!
Thanks for the video.
It would make for a great road trip video to put that motor in the blue nomad and tow the black nomad Back west with it. You could be the first to tow a 55 Nomad with a 55 Nomad.....
Wow that's cool as hell yeah man that sounds great and then you can get it done ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I hear John and think ouff this budget job sounds expensive!!
It looks like Dan will be spending a lot of money on engine builds and repairs in the near future.
Why not put a 283 crank in the 327 making a 302 ?
Did that with a 454 with a 396 crank and made a 427. Ran 12.50's in a 81 Monte with oval port heads and a mild cam. Lots of fun!
Thanks for the vid

Guys, get the dyno up and operational.
Hello Dan n Dani
What car is that big block going in? Chevelle??
454 into the 1956 pickup?
Just what Dan needs too see you like the $4k motor packages, but look what the $6k package did on the dyno sheet...
Dan, you just said it! You want it TAME!!! Redo the orig. engine!!!!--- + It's a power-pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you go over all that again? I was cooking dinner.😊
Wow. Crazy stuff. We do build crazy fast motors in California. Yeah. Ask a guy like John Force . We go fast 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Why is there so much smoke?

nice mopars. 70 cuda and a 67 dart. lucky they even care about your chevys.
Dan If you will not do the right thing with that engine! How much to send it to me in NY?
Drag car on lift show us is it 340 ??? Stick shift?😊
My dad was a Ford man and he religiously believed in putting that copper coat on the head gaskets
Did you see that new jacket down was wearing?
That's a sweet 454 now and yeah keep the blue 💙 Nomad street worthy 283 or 350 snappy but economic cruser is the ticket 😂🎉
Need a Big-Block for the '70 Chevelle.
