Cleo Sol new album ‘Heaven’ - quick review

Cleo Sol’s third album Heaven just landed. I don’t like to give reviews super soon - I think it’s important to let the work breathe for a while and give myself a few weeks (maybe months) of listens but here are my immediate impressions.
This third album is a seriously impressive development in Cleo’s sound and the reflection of the ongoing magical collaboration between her and Inflo - the Producer and co-writer on every song.
Dean Wynton Josiah Cover, better known by his stage name Inflo, is a London-based record producer and songwriter who’s written for the likes of Adele, Michael Kiwanuka, Jungle, Tom Odell, Little Simz, and Cleo Sol. He’s part of the mysterious and incredible group SAULT where Cleo Sol frequently lends her vocals.
Cleo Sol’s third album Heaven provides us with extremely delicate arrangements and reflective lyrics informing us of Cleo’s artist journey and evolution. 2020’s Rose In The Dark and 2021’s Mother both earned universal love and support from fans (and the industry). The intimate songwriting has become so relatable to fans and the arrangements and compositions are ones not easily found in contemporary musical work.
Cleo Sol announced her new LP last week with a testimonial to her partnership with Inflo:
“Thank u Flo for loving me through these creative processes, pushing me even when I’m resistant, change and growth is necessary,” she added.
The 9 track set is divine nourishment. Produced by Inflo and co-written by Cleo Sol & Inflo with additional writers namechecked below, my stand outs are so far … all of them. Each is so unique. The one making me slightly fan-lovingly giddy is Miss Romantic since it’s also written by the incomparable Lianne La Havas.
