I’ve been a long time Byrds fan but I’m not a modern country music fan so I’d written Marty Stewart off for a long time thinking that was his groove. Then I happened upon a YT vid of him with Clarence White’s B-bender playing Byrds’ SOTR music, of which I was a huge fan. Gradually I listened to more of him with The Fabulous Superlatives (what a great name 😀) and when they came to Napa recently we went. I had so. Much. Fun. Varied music, incredible musicianship, stories, and Clarence’s guitar. I’d seen it 51 years earlier in Clarence’s hands when that version of the Byrds came to Lincoln, Nebraska. I was humbled to learn not to put MS and TFS into any particular box.
