@@demondog804 Yeah I saw the video. That woman was clearly an idiot encroaching on their personal space and getting too close. Having said that I have on several occasions scuba dived with several different species of sharks including grey nurse and they are by far the most docile. Also, the video seems to show juvenile sharks swimming with the dog and children and might be a little more playful and curious than adult ones.
That last shot of Lili swimming with the rainbow made me gasp. Nature at her best.

I have seen so many comments lately how pet parents are crazy to say their pets are their babies, that we all have a severe mental illness, I always respond Id rather have this supposed mental illness then have such a closed judgemental mind and never having experienced the love of a pet. False. Do some research. Nurse sharks actively hunt crustaceans and mollusks and sleeping fish at night.

People need to realize that there are more than 500 known shark species and not just the handful swimming meatgrinders everybody knows. However calm nurse sharks appear, they do bite humans as a defensive reaction. Apparently so frequently, they're ranked 4th in the "bite statistics", according to a citation referenced on wikipedia. Of course, such statistics can be skewed because of many more interactions between divers and nurse sharks than other, more aggressive sharks.

Also because nurse sharks tend to be what are in large aquariums/zoos as they are generally placid and safe to swim with, so that would skew the rates to be higher. Also because of idiots out there who will purposely anger a nurse shark to “get a cool video” or whatever, but then get bitten because they’re being idiots.
However nurse sharks bite is also not nearly as damaging as something like a great white bite would be, as nurse sharks “nip” to scare you off or because you’ve annoyed them, but they aren’t really interested in trying to eat you.
All the photos of nurse shark bites show fairly shallow wounds and don’t usually require stitches to close the wounds (just medical glue or butterfly sutures).

Kinda like how Golden Retrievers, well known as a sweet, gentle breed, are fairly high on the dog bite list, just because there are so many of them out there.

"All my love is in this dog" I feel that sentiment, that's exactly how I feel about my cat. Our pets are family. Such a beautiful thing to witness a bond between species, humans and dogs, and dogs and sharks, and all the other cross-species friendships. Proving to us that love transcends differences.

That’s incredible. I’ve seen dogs and dolphins before but never dogs and sharks. Now I HAVE seen everything.
Dolphins are more of a threat than nurse sharks. I work around marine life, including both dolphins and various sharks, dolphins as cool and intelligent they are, can be a real menace if you let your guard down. Mostly it's just them playing pranks, which they love doing, but they can accidentally hurt people/animals with their antics and if you startle them or disrupt/confuse them they can lash out.
Basically it's a bad idea to let your dog hang out with dolphins.

Nurse sharks are not harmless, but they are more placid than some other shark species. However, if you mess with them too much, they WILL bite you-most nurse shark attacks are provoked, meaning the person initiated contact with the shark and the shark bit either defensively or curiously. Though very rare, there have also been unprovoked nurse shark attacks. (Very few for how often they come into contact with humans, but still.) As always, exercise caution around wildlife. These sharks are clearly acclimated to human (and dog) contact but they are still wild animals, and one should always respect them as such.

unless you are a crab, clam or small fish a nurse shark isnt interested in eating you. they can bite but super rare if they arent being harassed. they are intelligent, curious and social which is likely why they enjoy hanging out with the dog.

These are nurse sharks. Their behavior is not and should not be used as a representation fo sharks as a whole. They are naturally placid due to the fact that their mouth doesn't allow to hunt large prey and their diet consists of small crustaceans and fish.
You obviously wouldn't want to do something like this white sharks, tiger sharks and so on because while they don't neccessarily go out to hunt humans, they can bite on occasion when bothered or simply to try out.
You are right, sharks aren't "murderers" but they are extremely powerful and unpredictable wild animals and should be given due respect. You wouldn't go out into the savannah to pet a lion and you certainly shouldn't play around predator sharks (not nurse or whale sharks).
@@naosou921 I watch a nurse shark named Relentless all the time and she is a real sweetheart. She follows her diver everywhere he goes lol. His name is Jim. He also has a Tiger Shark named Emma who has captured my heart 🙂hopefully I will be going out on a dive boat this summer. Hoping to go to Florida to see Emma if the doctor gives me the OK.
