- Burgers! Time! It's time for Burgertime! Throw pepper in the faces of anthropomorphic food and stomp on ingredients at the arcade, on the Intellivision, and via PC Booter disk.

I used to play this game on my NES. One of my favorite games of all time. I'd always end up playing it for hours without realizing it. I miss those days.
My Dad is a computer buff, grew up playing video games whenever he could. One day he came home from work in the early 2000s and installed a program on my computer that gave me a huge catalog of classic arcade games. Burger Time was my favorite! He told me he used to play it all the time too❤
Linda Belcher: "aww look Bobby fun and colorful food"
Bob Belcher "um stop playing with the deadly food"
I used to have this game on Intellivision when I was a kid. My mom played the hell out of it.
Damn you LGR! Now I have a craving for Burgers. D:
I remember playing burgertime World Tour I actually thought that was a one-off game until I saw this
well we learn something new everyday
Oh Man! So good. I remember in the early 80's going to my aunt and uncle's house, and sitting in the living room playing this on their Intellivision. Your reviews are such a time capsule for me. Loving this stuff!
One of the best games I played on the Intellivion... 2!
Balls yeah! Freaking love that place.
Due to the demand, I am happy to introduce "Arcade August" on LGR! I will be covering an arcade cabinet and notable home conversions of said game each week of the month of August. No credits required!
You got it!
I certainly plan on it someday!
Burger Time is a legend and one of my favourite arcade. I still habe the Intellivision version and it is really good - even with the strange controls.
Ah, the CGA composite color hack. Made famous again in 2015 by the demo 8088MPH.
Thank you :) I was actually trying to channel a bit of my older style here!
Agreed entirely, I can't get enough of them.
Burgertime is definitely one of the "original gangsters" of the arcade golden era. Thanks for showing some love to this timeless Data East classic my friend, good stuff indeed! 👍 👍
The arcade I've been showing lately is the Galloping Ghost in Brookfield, Illinois!
I'm surprised he didnt mention burgertime for NES. It's a much closer conversion than say the intellivision version
I wanted to stick to the initial home ports from right around when the arcade game was still new. There are several others, like the NES, that come closer but they also came years later!
True. the arcade version is definitely one of my favourite arcade games ever, I think I like it more than pacman or donkey kong. It's so much fun.. that is until those pickles start showing up. Then it's pure insanity! haha
I remember playing this on my cousin's Intellevision in the late 80s...along with Night Stalker and Frog Bog. =)
I loved BurgerTime on the Intellivision. It was one of my all time favorite game on that system, and in general too.
This is a great channel! I am slowly watching all the arcade / PC videos while I work. Nice to see a retro gamer with an educated perspective on vintage PCs. Love my C64. Luckily I work from home and considered sane here.
. . . but did you get "BOBSUX" off the leaderboard?
Burgerboss.....yes yes yes a relevent comment still understood 7 years later
Great review! I love this game, I started playing it recently for the first time in decades via emulation on my hacked Vita and I can't stop, the gameplay has held up phenomenally. Super addictive, fun and perfect for portable gaming. I had no idea has an IBM port, that looked very nice. Thanks
I have an AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable capture device I use, but I also use Fraps and Camtasia when the need arises or I don't feel like hooking that thing up.
Hassle: To harass, pester; an irritating inconvenience.
I never knew making the patties fall while the evil food is walking on them would kill them.
I think this video just started my mid-life crisis.
Every time you showcase an original arcade game and then all the various ports, their positives and negatives, I find it to be very interesting. Just seeing how various systems managed to deal with the reduced graphics, sound, and overall look and feel of the games from arcade to console is really cool, so yes, a month of those would be quite welcome.
One of the first games I played as a child in the 80's on the Intellivision.just the music brings back memories .
Wow, I actually had the PC version of Burgertime. I played it quite a bit because; like you said, it just played very well. Good stuff. :)
great old game review love ur channel
Lol great job as always. What's funny is three days ago I picked up burger time for gameboy. My wife hasn't even heard of it. Now she's addicted.
OMG!!!! I remember this! Damn I'm so excited now!
Burger time was my favorite intelavison game when I was a kid. Baseball was also fun.
I still have this game.
I do not know but its day WILL come.
:D - another great review Clint!
Great intro!
I played the TI 99/4A version. It was one of my favorite games.
Great video. I love Burgertime.
Glad to see you mention the color composite option for Burgertime. I was like why are you playing the 4 color pink and blue version. One of my all-time favorite arcade / home computer / console games. Really love the Game Boy version as well.
Looks and sound quite good, though it plays a tiny bit faster than the arcade version. It also still has the issue of the platforming being a bit unforgiving, where you have to be pixel-perfect when on the ladders and changing platforms, unlike the INTV and PC versions.
But was the burger any good?
Very much so.
+Lazy Game Reviews Five Guys???
+Pileggi Technical Services Sure looks like it :)
If you like Burgertime, check out its weird brother, "Flintstones: Burgertime in Bedrock" on GameBoy Color. Id say its ones of the best looking games on the GBC. Its also hard as nails.
Yes, Im on an Arcade August binge!
Ever played Burgerspace on Linux? It's a damn fine version and one of the first programs I put on a fresh install.
Now I'm friggin hungry.. -.- thanks a lot, LGR!!!
You're an awesome dude, phreakindee.
I have an old Avengers comic with an ad for the Intelevision version of Burger Time in it. Although it showed gameplay screenshots for the original arcade version inexplicably enough.
As mentioned on my channel "about" page, I do not even look at my RUclips inbox as it's just terrible to use. I have a business email address listed there that you can contact me at though :)
5 guys burger!
Crazy, I just played Ti 99/4a and Atari 1200 Burger Time last week. And Joust too.
Brilliant arcade classic.
Ah, this brought back memories of the TI99 port. Good times.
That is the best intro!
I remember it on the PC with a Composite Monitor the Burgers looked so realistic to me at the time that it made me hungry for real Hamburgers.
Man Clint, why did you have to pick such a funny way to remind me im gonna die one day T^T
Burgers, I know a programmer at MacPlay (division of Interplay) nicknamed 'Burger'. He/she programmed Wolfenstein 3D for Mac and Out of this World on 3DO n' consoles!
Yeah I would be interested it would definitely be something I would watch.
I miss the soundtrack brings back memories :D
How come your voice is so soothing.
this looks like a great arcade game!
LOVE BURGERTIME!
There needs to be a Burgertime remake. Loved this game.
GALLOPING GHOST ARCADE! I go there every month and rock the Nibbler machine!
Hmm, that is something to consider!
Anyone else interested?
This game drove me nuts back in the day...
Arcade August is here!
Don't forget Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade in Portland, Oregon which is also a barcade serving drinks and food.
That burger at the beginning looked so artery-clogging delicious.
Holy hell, that burger looks disproportionately tasty for this viewing medium.
Guru Larry once brought up a ZX Spectrum version based around a now defunct fast food establishment.
Mr. Wimpy by Ocean.
I love this game!
I love BurgerTime! my favorite version is on the Atari 7800. It's not official but a homebrew called BeefDrop, it's arcade perfect (aside from the sound quality, but there's you can do about that).
Interesting, I'd like to hear more about tricking crt screenes and colour and whatnot. Maybe an episode expaning on the topic?
Best intro ever
I know this is an old video, but I'm curious if anyone knows how many people used IBM PCs with composite monitors. I know there were some low end models planned at least with cassette interface only and less RAM, but back in the day, the only IBM PCs I was exposed to were in school and business as they were ludicrously expensive and crap as a home gaming computer compared to C64s and Atari 8-bit home computers.
Well probably just about anyone who did have an ibm pc would use composite (far cheaper)
A bit off topic but props for the NFS 3 music at the beginning.
Was this at galloping ghosts? That's really cool if that's the case! I live near there and it's great to see youtubers checking it out!
that stupid pickle used to piss me off. he was the smartest AI out of all of them. had this game for intelivision when i was a kid, dont think i ever played it at a arcade
Mr Hot Dog, Mr. Pickle and Mr. Egg?
Now I want to see a "Reservoir (Hot) Dogs" movie...
that would be awesome!
Nice LGR!
Ahh, flashbacks to my youth!
I would love if you did an arcade reviews/conversions month.
Man I love Arcades I practically grew up on them so seeing this review brings me back to years of wasting quarters on those beeping and booping cabinets. of course my thing was playing games like House of The Dead and Time Crisis but I've played pretty much all kinds.
LGR have you ever thought of reviewing the Neo Geo cabinets?
I was just watching some of your older videos and came across your Arena review. You said that you were going to make a Daggerfall review (if I remember correctly) and was wondering if that's on your list (Since I really want to play it and want to know what it's like. Plus you go into a lot more detail than other people so I'd rather see your opinion)? BTW, I love your videos, old and new so you have another subscriber! :)
I had the Television one.. There was an NES version.. as well as a Atari version i think.. And also there is a NEWER version of burger time.. it is 3D n stuff quite strange.. I played the demo of it on the Xbox 360 I believe a couple years ago (could have been on the ps3 also i cant remember).. it was awkward but still neat to see how it might look in 3D lmao... BTW this is one of my all time favorite arcade/console games..
Yeah I'd watch that!
Wohoo!!! Could you please make an episode for Dig Dug 1 or Dig Dug 2? I love those games and still play them from time to time on an emulator.
Well, now I want a burger.
Awesome idea! Also, last night, I was enjoying some jazz from SimCity 3000 and it made me think, hmm, there's another idea for a 'retrospective' or 'history' video for LGR. Video game soundtracks! Imo, game soundtracks have been outdoing Hollywood lately.
That would be awesome.
That burger in the beginning made me hungry.
Woooweee! That Deco Cassette gal was a fox! Or, uh, bunny?
The game play reminds me of a similar game I had on my NES but with Popeye and hearts
that would be lovely.
Bravo!
Hey Clint! Try this out: BurgerTime Deluxe on Bigfish Games
Its a newer version of burgertime! :D
Very good vid by the way:)
Best name for a game ever. Yummy Burgers
I remember playing some online game similar to this
I have this game on my old school NES.
